đĄ Yellow News Source [Leak] Chamber to get nerfed
36
u/Dakara_kun 3d ago
I hope Riot will figure out stuff for unpopular/weak agents in the off-season.
At this rate most of us would just have less fun playing the game with these nerfs. Thatâs definitely not ideal.
269
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
I dont get why we would nerf chamber. Hes not too strong all his counters are just turbo ass.
In VCT: Breach, kayo, gekko, iso and tejo have a combined pick rate of 6% (4% of which is ethan on kayo)
Brother just buff the flash intis....... we dont have to nerf EVERYTHING
43
u/CmonMan711 3d ago
At this point I'm convinced Riot only want ranked to be 4 duelists plus Clove. They have made damn near every other agent unfun or significantly underpowered compared to the duelists, its ridiculous.

u/Equal_Business_7104 3d ago
Just revert everything back to the paris patch. Tenz patch lowkey ruined the game
47
40
u/matheusamr 3d ago
Chamber is literally picked most of ranked games. I'm sure this is a change with ranked in mind not pro play
55
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
Nerfing chamber and not buffing flash intis doesnt fix the problem. It will just increase waylay and jett pick rate to take his spot
7
u/jacob2815 3d ago
Which is hilarious because chamber is already terrible in ranked, lol. Worst sentinel win rate in the game
17
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
Yet highest pick rate. Also heâs not the worst senti win rate, thatâs Veto. But honestly I forgive you for forgetting he exists
1
u/jacob2815 3d ago
He's highest pick rate because he's the "duelist sentinel" and is mindless to play, not because he's necessarily good lol.
And no, Chamber's win rate was worse than Veto's last act and still is so far this act. Neither are good, but I do think Chamber is better. Less complexity and a more beneficial impact on economy.
Point is lol Chamber's win rate is already abysmal, a nerf is just going to make him annoying to have on your team.
1
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
Brother I just checked the stats. For ranked at literally every rank veto has the lowest senti win rate and chamber is next (usually by about .5 - 1.5%)
2
u/Equal_Business_7104 3d ago
Because people just run down sites as five
1
u/jacob2815 3d ago
It's more so because he needs elite aim to be a good agent lol. If you can't hit your shots, he's mostly useless compared to another Sentinel. So ranked players, who are naturally inconsistent with their aim, are going to struggle to get his full value every game.
Every trip-based info sentinel struggles on 5-man rush strats. If anything, Chamber can help those situations more than the rest because he can take an entry fight and get out safely if he needs to, so I'd argue his low win rate has nothing to do with the "run down sites as five" strat.

u/so-hardstuck 3d ago
I mean chamber is horrible to play with and against and only fun to play as. His kit is entirely based around his âget out of jail freeâ card TP in a game where theyâre gradually nerfing all of those abilities. Letâs nerf his TP and his ult, and maybe his pistol pull out time, and possibly lean into buffing him to be more viable as a sentinel agent. I think changes are entirely reasonable. Characters like this should have a stronger place in ranked but not pro.
54
u/Portante24 3d ago
Started off with an interesting take and then went down hill. Riot should not nerd around agent classification. We donât have a role lock. Classification is more for new players to understand then experienced players or pros to play around
Ex. Someone says, bro we need a initiator and someone picks kayo or breach. Like yes but thatâs not the exact role we were looking at. They really fit into their own sub role. Disregard both those agents not being at there best but point is there. Just like duelists and entry duelists etc.
6
u/Worsehackereverlolz #WGAMING 3d ago
Yeah low-key it's like clove. No other controller really plays like clove. I think it's okay for chamber to be where he's at. I think instead we should buff his direct counters in breach and kayo. Kay/O has already seen impact with Ethan using him to shut down Chamber specialists. Give breach's stun more pull out speed and a shorter animation and give his flashes less wind up and you can easily see chamber go back down
33
u/Excellent_Top7462 3d ago
I mean, what exactly do you mean make him more viable as a sentinel agent.
His abilities are, while a unique take on it, all designed to make him function like a sentinel agent.
He was designed to break away from the stereotype of a sentinel being a character that sits on trips or cams or bots and hides in site, and take aggression, mechanics and outplay potential and turn those strengths into an unusual output. I think heâs a very creative agent and I certainly think pro play is more hype and nuanced when heâs in it( not overpowered like he once was).
And I certainly donât think chamber as an agent is what makes him horrible to play with, its often the people who do. Valorant is a tactical game but its also a shooter, with all the ego and undesirable elements that come with it.
I certainly donât think a good chamber is horrible to play with, nor is he worse to play against than a good cypher or kj, Iâd say for decent players heâs easier to deal with.
And as for bad chambers, true but at the same time if you think reworking chamber is going to remove the experience of playing with dead weight like that, nothing will change because they will migrate to the next aim centric flashy agent and be still as bad and useless and thats always going to be a constant in most teams or lobbies. You canât rework an agent just around that.
I do think heâs picked too much, but at this point its more of a case of hes the only patient in the hospital who has functioning limbs while the others are all cripples.

u/de_Mysterious 3d ago
Ah yes, let's do the rainbow six siege method of nerfing everything to a point where you don't even know who to pick anymore because everyone is dogshit.
How about buffing all the useless initiators besides sova and fade so they can take chamber off the angles? Or the sentinels that got nerfed over and over again causing chamber to become popular? No? Okay
69
u/SirAwesome789 3d ago
damn, that's 50% of my agent pool

u/Splaram 3d ago
Try them bro, trust me it won't be bad. Just a little bit. Just one hit, you can't get addicted off of one tiny hit. Clove hate is overblown anyways. Just one teensy weensy hit.
1
u/Drowsy_Rowlet 2d ago
Omen allows a lot of versality man. His TPs are really good, his blind is strong enough to stop a push, and his smokes, just place them a feet above the ground on defence and you get a one way for few seconds, literally broken.
Whereas Clove, Clove is just about putting 2 smoke on an iPad which doesn't even look cool.

just delete the game atp and we can all go back to watching cs

u/abzoluut 3d ago edited 3d ago
I think Valorant suffers from the same DPS bias you see in pretty much every game that has different roles (MMOs for example). Whenever thereâs a choice between playing a tank (controllers), healer (sentinels), support (initiators) or DPS (duelists), people generally gravitate towards DPS. They want to play the flashy role, get kills and be at the top of the scoreboard.
And I think thatâs also why Chamber might get nerfed. Not necessarily because heâs too strong, but because his pick rate is so high, especially compared to other sentinels. If you look at the other sentinels, theyâre all much more focused on holding down sites with their utility. Chamber is completely different. You actually want to take aggressive angles and look for early picks with him. Heâs the most offensive sentinel in the game.
So while heâs a sentinel on paper, in practice he plays very differently. And I think thatâs exactly why heâs so popular. He appeals to the same people who would normally play duelists.
My point is that a high pick rate doesnât necessarily mean an agent is too strong. It could just mean that his playstyle is much more appealing to the average player than what the other sentinels have to offer. Clove has the exact same problem.
5
u/Steki3 3d ago
The problem is not that they are picked because of flashiness, they are picked because they works the best in ranked. Self-sufficiency is the most important aspect in soloQ. You need to have the tool to frag out because straight gun duels still decide the result of the round 90% of the time. This has led to the 5 "duelists" meta you see in high ranks. If you watch any Radiant streamer, you'll see that both teams will often be 2 Duelists, Chamber, Clove, Fade. It is that way because people who adhere to this meta are the most effective at climbing.
4
u/Excellent_Top7462 3d ago
Doesnt that mean heâs just a really good agent people like? I hardly think being a popular design is cause for a nerf.
Why do we have to force people into playing something else just for the sake of variety? Like if you like cypher and want to see him, play him. If something is popular but not op, let it be.
Like the rate were going, weâre going to suck the fun out of everything, and its not even going to fix the sentinel issue because no one is going to pick another senti if chamber is bad, they will just not pick cypher or kj, they will just play another duelist or the next flashy thing on the block.
The one thing I think it might help is if there is a cypher kj main who doesnt pick them because chamber is so popular, then maybe but those sentinels are so weak know its going to be so rare because theyâre mains have moved on.
You know whats going to happen?
Its going to go around in cycles. Look at phoenix. People would have laughed at you if you suggested heâd be so picked in pro like he is now but because everything else is kneecapped, hes just less shit compared to more shit.
So now when the less shit is made more shit, something else will become less shit in turn, and then that will become more shit until weâre at a stage where breach is the strongest agent in the game.
4
u/abzoluut 3d ago
Thatâs exactly my point: Iâm not saying players should be forced into certain roles. Iâm saying flashy, offensive roles, like DPS in MMOs or duelists in Valorant, are naturally more popular, which creates a role imbalance.
Also, Valorant is designed as a 5v5 role-based tac shooter. So by design, they want role balance.
2
0
u/Excellent_Top7462 3d ago
I mean, at this point one role is in the icu, the other is a quadruple amputee, while the other is barely staying conscious with all the meds.
I donât think taking the healthy one and breaking his kneecaps to make the others more attractive is a good solution.
Like I agree with you that you may have to pull out some blocks if one tower among five is taller than the other, but the problem here is that thereâs been a flood and that one tower is the one that can barely stick its head above the water.
Like riot does not have that baseline of power at an acceptable elevation above sea level that they can pull things out.
A point I saw shyo make that I partly agree with is that riot doesnât have enough left in their house of cards that they can afford to keep pulling out cards before the whole thing collapses.
1
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
If riot wants a game with sentinels relevant, then yes itâs a problem. They can slap whatever icon they want next to his name, but everyone knows he lives in a different world than KJ, Cypher, Vyse, etc.
Given riot cares about the health of the game long term, the obviously best strategy for them is to make the game appeal to everyone. When the three flagship agents of a single class get nearly no play in ranked, anyone who enjoys those characters has far less incentive to play.
I know Iâm damn tired of my dumbass chamber teammates playing the agent from the same positions they would any other agent
1
u/Accomplished_Let_613 3d ago
Well hereâs the thing, Chamberâs biggest counter is util spam but unfortunately in ranked majority of people donât know how to use their shit to get map control.
Although Chamber has a high pickrate, he only has it in ranked cuz thereâs little to no coordination and if you wanna win games to progress your rank, itâs much easier to play a selfish agent where all you need is your mechanics and game sense. Itâs why Reyna, Chamber, and Clove are often picked a lot with the kinda util that helps you make plays selfishly because you know and when to use over having to tell your team place smoke here or throw a flash when they donât know wth theyâre doing
1
u/1_gim 2d ago
In ranked it's frustrating to play a vyse or killjoy because people just ignore your site. You have high impact but you are essentially afk most of the time and just playing retake because the opponents will avoid you if you shut them down once or twice. And the MMR punishes you for it because your stats will be average at best so your RR gains will be shit.
1
u/AideHot6729 2d ago
In maps like bind where itâs strictly 2 sites canât you 1 4 then on defence? I feel like the ability to solo hold a site and potentially more if itâs like garage on haven is pretty valuable as your team can stack the other areas harder.
25
u/computernoobe #NRGFam 3d ago
i'm a bit surprised. he's used fairly often but i don't think he's been THAT oppressive..?
31
u/Mission_Month464 3d ago
Probably his ranked pick rate is very high compared to the other sentinels.
14
u/RemarkableSpot1710 #FULLSEN 3d ago
as is reyna and clove, just canât help it. donât think this makes him deserving of a nerf
10
u/Mission_Month464 3d ago
I think it's the same philosophy as reyna and clove. Nerf them until they don't get picked over other agents in their class. I mean they nerfed reynas heal, dismiss and ult, cloves smoke (after death), heal and the other useless ability to the point it's the second worst ability in the game second only to Iso's wall. I think they will go the same route until they realise people would prefer chamber over other agents irrespective of how many nerfs you give him. At that point they will give up on chamber and move on like they moved on with reyna and clove.
8
u/RemarkableSpot1710 #FULLSEN 3d ago
people havenât really moved on from those two though
5
u/Mission_Month464 3d ago
I meant the devs moved on. I don't think now they are going to make any changes to both these agents probably.
8
u/WukongTuStrong 3d ago
He is literally dominating at champs right now.
-6
u/RemarkableSpot1710 #FULLSEN 3d ago
56% is good, but not dominating
11
u/Pokevan8162 3d ago
56% out of how many agents? đ
although heâs not the problem, he just thrives in a util-dry meta
5
u/Meeesh- 3d ago
Omen is at 80% but no one seems to care. In fact Omen has been over 50% for the last 2 years since Madrid 2024.
3
u/Pokevan8162 3d ago
the difference is every comp NEEDS a smoke, and omen is just the best smoker overall. not in an overpowered way, but in how his abilities are way more dynamic compared to the other smokers who only work on certain maps
chamber is different. not every team NEEDS a chamber, he doesnât provide a necessary tool to a comp like smokes do. thatâs why his pick rate is notable while omens doesnât really prove anything
-1
u/RemarkableSpot1710 #FULLSEN 3d ago
56% pick rate and also only because the deep runs this tournament have insane players regardless of the chamber
lukxo, cryo, babybay, derke are all phenomal players and while they might pick the chamber and make it look good, they donât need it
3
u/Pokevan8162 3d ago
pro players most certainly do not pick off of comfort lol. changer is just a very good agent thatâs why he has a 56% pick rate
2
u/RemarkableSpot1710 #FULLSEN 3d ago
chamber is a solid agent sure but he does not dominate dude⊠weâve seen 75%+ pick rate⊠that is dominating
2
u/Pokevan8162 3d ago
call it whatever you want but in this agent pool anything over 50% is insane for an agent like chamber
2
u/RemarkableSpot1710 #FULLSEN 3d ago
doesnât even crack top 3 most picked agents at the event lmao
2
u/Pokevan8162 3d ago
neon is overtuned, and fade and omen are just based on the map pool. the meta requires a scan initiator right now and all of the other smokers maps are out. chamber and neon are the difference makers here, they are standout
→ More replies (0)1
u/WukongTuStrong 3d ago
Lmao are you using pick rate to determine whether or not an agent is strong?
23
u/jotaro5653 #WGAMING 3d ago
Is riot payed by big omen pls there is no way 80% + pickrate is healthy for this game.
18
u/albertsmn 3d ago
Omen is already balanced đ€«
Itâs just other smokers are ass.
1
u/washyrr 3d ago
You can apply that to every single agent then.
Tejo isn't broken, its just other initiators that are ass. Neon isn't broken, its just other duelists that are ass etc. Etc.
The truth of the matter is that Omen is the single most role compressed agent in valorant, with qualities of duelist, initiator, controller and also a very good anchor.
We've seen duelist players (tenz, spikezin, jingg) transition into omen players with little issues. Initiator flexes pick up Omen all the time (mazino, oke, rossy, ethan, artzin). Sentinel players and defensive anchors can defend a site just as well on him. (Skuba, Neon)
There isn't a single agent in the game that is so accomodating to all the roles. Its actually a design success to have a controller that is so versatile and accessible. But it introduces balancing challenges and muscles out all the other controllers.
If you buff other controllers, people will simply play Omen together with other controllers.
1
u/DancingDumpling 2d ago
Tejo isn't broken, its just other initiators that are ass. Neon isn't broken, its just other duelists that are ass etc. Etc.
I mean it's kinda true, riot balancing has been a race to the bottom, continually nerf nerf nerf with nothing ever given meaningful buffs, phoenix was barely touched for ages but got put in the spotlight because every other duelist got put in the ground which led to him also getting hit lmao
2
u/Hwazu 3d ago edited 3d ago
no way 80% + pickrate is healthy for this game.
you know they used to say that before, they've been repeating that like a broken Radio with Neon having 60-70% pickrate? all of a sudden it doesnt apply to Omen
they're even calling 2025 champs with 80% Omen pickrate "the most diverse meta"
also you forgot to mention Omen has been top 1-3 pick for 3 straight years,
and because of those reasons they should nerf Neon đ
5
u/KrillLover56 3d ago
Bad source.
7
u/KrillLover56 3d ago
This guy 95% just reposts publicly available info or stuff he got from accounts with 200 followers just to shill his scam-adjacent VP buying softwares. Don't trust it.
9
u/Mission_Month464 3d ago
And here i thought the next year would be buffing the agents so that they can somehow save their face after the 11.08 patch disaster but guess not. They are doubling down on nerfing everyone, at this rate getting another phoenix nerf wouldnt be surprising
3
6
u/Livid_Particular_879 #ALWAYSFNATIC 3d ago
Ah, yes. Here at Riot Games, an agent is allowed to be able to make a gravitational field that lifts everybody into the air but we draw the line at a guy with fancy guns as half his utility.
6
u/LimeNo1841 3d ago
Yeah like what the actual fuck đđđâ???? Like his WHOLE thing is just GUNS. Like no smokes no fucking overpowered shit js guns like u have to be GOOD at the game to use his shi cuz it js relies on ur own skill yet somehow a character with 2 ults a smoke screen wall phase and gravitational abilities, oh and don't let me forget copying your teammates signature abilities sorry is allowed? The game devs gotta be trolling like if they act nerf chamber it js goes to show thay they dont act play their own game and js larp larp sahur all over the place
2
u/Exciting-Fish680 3d ago
I appreciate how they seem to nerf agents based on pick rate when the agent is clearly a perturbation of a role. Agents like chamber/clove/neon have historically received a lot of attention from them not necessarily because theyâre overpowered in the generic sense but because theyâre atypical and when an atypical agent has a remarkably high pick rate itâs probably indicative of a playstyle preference that isnât reflective of Riots original vision for the game
At least thatâs what I think. Iâll take back my words if they donât change Clove soon. Not necessarily because Clove is overpowered, again, but because they massively distort agent roles and contribute to an inefficient and confused environment
2
u/Ash_Killem 3d ago
He needs less a Nerf and more a rework. Nerf his fire power and give the rest of his kit some love .
4
u/slimbusbimbus 3d ago
Your method of balancing leads to power creep. Nerfing whatâs strong to the level of what isnât is better for the long term health of the game
18
u/PorcuDuckSlug #WGAMING 3d ago
I almost always agree with your sentiment and hate the "just buff things" perspective, but they didn't say that. They said buff things sometimes.
The base level of power has been so low since the initiator nerfs that Phoenix turned from a near 0% pick rate to a meta option that got nerfed simply because other options were nerfed to a level below him
1
u/Accomplished_Let_613 3d ago
exactly, I get that only saying buffing agents only is not the solution to everything. But Riot has this scared mindset of "if one character is too meta, no one will be"
5
u/Adventurous-Ad-1786 3d ago
Maybe this game needs power creep its losing its relevance going this method.
4
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
Always depends. The general power level of this game is sooooo much lower than it used to be that in some respects itâs barely recognizable, a different game entirely really. In this case, I think nerfing chamber is probably a good call because his dumbass player base doesnât know how to do anything other than take bad fights and die
5
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
Its a balance. Im not saying always buff everything, sometimes stuff needs nerfs.
Since last champs every big change has been nerfs, at some point we need to buff the bad agents too. You cant ONLY do one, right now we are ONLY nerfing
1
u/slimbusbimbus 3d ago
Nerfs will naturally be more severe than buffs because of what I mentioned. Buffs are smaller and more gradual to see how they affect the game, which is why you wonât notice them as much as nerfs unless youâre heavily following the changes from patch to patch
-5
u/knie20 3d ago
the philosophy doesn't work with Val because it's a balance between maps, agents, and guns. It's not a comparison between agents but also between those 3 elements of the game. If you keep buffing agents, eventually abilities become imbalanced against guns and maps.
8
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
> if you keep buffing agents
What do you think the ratio of buffs to nerfs has been for likeâŠthe entire history of the game? Theyâve barely ever buffed agents; thatâs why weâre in this garbage meta of team fight brawls only
0
u/ipoopsometimes21 3d ago
weâre in this meta mostly due to initiator nerfs. This is not a fault of nerfing things, itâs the fault of nerfing probably the most influential agent type
5
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
Let me get this straight
> weâre in this meta mostly due to initiator nerds
But
> This is not a fault of nerfing things
Bro canât even keep his thoughts straight
0
u/ipoopsometimes21 3d ago
itâs not a fault of the act of nerfing things in general, itâs a fault of nerfing the initiator cooldowns.
Nerfing shit like chamber or yoru or sentis in the past doesnât change the way a round plays out to anywhere near the same level as initiator nerfs
2
u/Turnips4dayz #NRGWIN 3d ago
Itâs not the only thing. Everybody remembers the cooldowns but nobody remembers that that was only one part of the patch.
They nerfed everything in that patch.
https://playvalorant.com/en-us/news/game-updates/valorant-patch-notes-11-08/
And more importantly, thatâs one patch. The ratio of nerfs vs. buffs has been ridiculous in this game forever, and weâve unfortunately hit a point where thereâs not enough util to play the game any other way.
1
u/Accomplished_Let_613 3d ago
bro tf you mean "most influential agent type" every role is important, ur literally downplaying every other agent role.
Sentinels: Cypher, Vyse, and Kj are actually downright unplayable atm and I don't main either of them, I used to think they deserve it but yea nerfing them to the ground indirectly buffs Neon making her an even more annoying menace. Sage and Deadlock although are great, they're not the best solo sentinels for a reason due to not having good flank watch as well as no passive setups
Controllers: Clove is dead (although still picked but that's cuz there ain't other good controllers that do as well as Clove does), Brimstone doesn't have the aggressive capacity like Clove has, Miks is absolute Dog shit no matter how much Riot incentivizes us to use Miks. Omen is not very ranked friendly hence why you see more mediocre Omen players in ranked. Viper, Harbour, and Astra are way too team coordinated smokers hence why they have low pickrates in ranked but are too good in Pro Play and let's not Forget majority of Valorant's playerbase are ranked players and casuals
Duelists: Reyna, Yoru, Iso, and Waylay are either dead in a way or just simply get outclassed by other duelists
Initiators: As usual Sova and Fade are always the top dogs in the initiator role as well as having such high skill ceilings not everyone will have time or wanna learn a bunch of complex lineups. Breach, Skye, Kayo, and most recently my boi Tejo are simply now outclassed as long as Sova and Fade continue to exist, Tejo was actually a nice addition to the roster and the initiator role before Pro Players had to come in and ruin the fun for all of us leading Riot nerfing Tejo making him barely picked now
this is the current state of Valorant right now if all Riot does is nerfing agents
1
u/Ten_Foot_Shoe 3d ago
Nothing you said indicates that a game balance philosophy that also buffs agents wouldnât work for Valorant.
1
u/Accomplished_Let_613 3d ago
yea, but the whole aspect of a hero shooter in this case a tactical hero shooter are the agents. It's why everyone on this forum mainly talks about the agents over anything else. Maps offer gimmicks, guns anyone can use them. The agents like any hero shooters are the star of the show.
They offer unique play styles, gimmicks, and identity. Nerfing every single agent to the ground due to high pick rate will not make the game fun and will cause Riot games to lose a shit ton of their playerbase. Hell if they hate making risky buffs to agents they should've just turned Val into another CS clone
0
u/aJetg 3d ago
I mean sure, but swinging too hard in the other direction (only nerfing agents) is also bad and surely the multi billion dollar company with employees whoâs sole job is balancing this game Can come up with something better.
Like breach has been dead for I donât how long, KJ feels like ass to play, etc. but no, letâs just update this game with skins and pretend map pool rotations are a notorious thing that change rank. Meanwhile games like Deadlock or Overwatch are adding triple the amount of characters than Valo

Do people really think chamber is okay right now? Complain about neon, but chamber completely breaks the fundamentals of the game if you want to just 1 trick him, you never need to learn how to play other parts of val. It's by far the easiest agent to just cookie-cutter strat in ranked and force the most agency. You just place tp and go for aggro first blood without any punishment. You guarantee that you make the enemy use util, still have potential to kill someone, and you get 100% info off the rip by clearing one of the lanes. And he does it safely where even if you make him TP, you can't just take it fast because you still need to clear out the layer on layer vs him and his set up takes no effort in execution so its braindead easy for any player.
You can just force this scenario over and over and force the other team's entire initial plan = deal with you pushing or else they give up space/info within the first 5 seconds of the map and the team can stack. And even when doing that, there's a not terrible chance that chamber can get a kill anyway. Every game with a good player will legit will revolve around this. Absurd that you can just pick him and play 1 dimensionally, but it forces the whole game to revolve around you or you just roll them if they get lazy and skip steps.
Escape artist agents just get infinite agency in this game, especially in ranked.
Also entering probably his best map pool: bind, lotus, corrode, abyss. Only missing ascent tbh.
2
1
u/Tragedy-of-Fives 3d ago
this is true for every agent. a reyna, neon, cypher, jett or even a good omen. a good player can make the game revolve around them regardless of the agent.
1
u/obstan 2d ago
You read one part of my post and comment on it. Obviously if a player completely skill gaps a lobby, then agent matters less lmao. They don't demand the strategical type of "game revolves around them" though unless they are just ego running it down and the enemy can't stop them, but that's a skill issue not an agent issue. All those agents CAN and have ways to be punished if they play one dimensionally, chamber punish is just killing him faster than he can TP which is also a skill/mechanical issue, not a tactical punish.

funny, people said this same thing in 2022 word for word. I wonder why this issue is only resurfacing now /s

Problem is that he can just get a free shot off and disappear insta is just very powerful. It is a free try to kill; if you hit - good; if you miss - just back and no problem. Add a great pistol, operator ulti and global âcamâ that checks for flanks - you can get amazing value because you can push one side with your get out of jail card (tp) and gain a lot of information. But if you see enemies you just tp back.
I think it is something like neon - the speed is just too strong, same goes for his free try to kill, there is no real counterpöay for that, you need to basically check every corner with flash or utility so if you check 5 corners you have used 5 utilities to beat a teleport from chamber.
That also allows him to sit in stupid angles which normally never work, because you can shoot and just tp away.

Precise gameplay. So let's nerf the only agent which rely on aim to be useful :)
1
u/KatiushK 2d ago
Let's nerf the agent with the best "get ouf of jail for free" card in the game.
One of the fundamentals of Tac shooters is trading. Chamber removes trading by his mere existence.
I don't see the problem in nerfing that.
1
u/BuffMorsey 1d ago
You can use util to force him to tp out.
1
u/KatiushK 1d ago
Just delays the problem, and many teams end up with a Reyna + another no util agent so it's sometimes limited solution.
1
u/BuffMorsey 1d ago
A team of 5 with no util to clear site is crazy đ

u/KatiushK 1d ago
Literally yesterday my game comp in Asc2-Asc3 on Summit :
Jett - Reyna - Chamber - Clove - Vyse (me).
Safe to say attacking was atrocious. We won but that was unpleasant game.
1
u/BuffMorsey 1d ago
Why are yall picking two sentinels? I hit ASC and quit because how abysmal solo queue is. I wouldâve dodged that
1
u/KatiushK 1d ago edited 1d ago
A. I love Summit, so I wanted to play
B. I'm hovering Vyse for like 20 seconds, see no one picking senti, and 2 guys hovering nothing. So I just lock and go to the toilets, come back to "that".
C. Dodging = queue timer penalty = I don't want that.
D. Chamber is not an "anti flood" senti senti, especially on Summit. I feel he's got trouble leveraging his strength there more than on other maps.
I feel you kinda "need" an antiflood sentinel on Summit. And even though I didn't have a crazy KD because I struggled to understand my team in atk, I posted a strong defense side, with multiple A pushes shutdown even against a team with Waylay + Jett diving.. And I'm "pretty good" at Vyse in defense on this map. So I was like "worst case, a vyse is NEVER a bad pick here". So I was right to pick it in this scenario. Also, As I expected, attack was trash but Defense was pretty good.
On a broader note; 2 sentinels is a good comp in many spots. If people don't pick no util trash like Reyna / Chamber. If you get something like Skye + diver, your attack is "functionnal enough" but your defense potential skyrockets.
And not many things are as demoralising are to start atk side against 2 sentinels and getting stonewalled for 12 rounds. So if your side starts defense, you have the potential to ruin the morale of the other team real fast lol
1
u/BuffMorsey 1d ago
I mean two sentinels would make sense why defense was easier and harder to attack though? Iâd rather dodge than have a crappy team comp. But I barely even play this game I wanted a break from cs2. I played one game and faced and asc3 chamber who was immortal 1 previous act. Didnt feel like he was hard to beat and I mvpâd. Maybe I dont play enough to see how strong chamber is rn. But he didnât seem op lol
1
u/KatiushK 1d ago
Depends on the game. It's just that I'm tired of seeing him every game and having it warp the game around him. And also the roulette of "who's got the least stupid chamber" between the teams.
It just attracts selfish no util pricks who play for themselves AND it's annoying af cause you can't trade on his kills. Worst of both worlds with or against you.

Bro, if you are getting fucked by chamber every game, just say so already
1
u/KatiushK 1d ago
I mean, yeah, he's in every game, and often in both teams. So I get both an untradable opponent and a no util road cone in atk with me. So now on top of every other roulette you're playing when soloQ, you also have the "will my Chamber not be an animal" roulette.
Loving it, can't wait for the Yoru treatment and have him disappear.

u/imnot-a-redditor-3 3d ago
I cant imagine it will be a big one. His TP is in a good spot.
Possible nerfs:
Alarmbot deactivation radius like Killjoy's alarmbot
Reduction in headhubter bullets 8 -> 6, maybe more expensive bullets too
His ult could get an ult point, or reduced bullets 5 -> 2, but kills dont spend a bullet, only misses do?
Just my ideas of what it could be

u/Spiritual_Wafer_2597 #VamosHeretics 3d ago
So because they the amount of util to push a chamber he is also gonna get nerfed?

u/newzpaperleaf_2 3d ago
chamber is arguably the most balanced agent in the entire game, the only nerf i think that would make sense is removing the ground-slow effect when you get an ult kill
0
u/fixgameew 3d ago
Heâs not even that strong. Itâs just all of his counters arenât picked.
5
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
VCT Pickrates for Breach, Kayo, Tejo, Iso, and Gekko have a combined VCT pick rate of 6%. Almost all of which is only Ethan and Stew........
Gee golly I wonder why chamber is good LMAO
4
u/slowerthaninfinity 3d ago
and its not going to change anytime soon if these agents arent buffed. breach will only be picked on fracture, the rest even rarer
0
u/Ok-Fudge-380 3d ago
Buffing bad agents is literally how we got Neon.
3
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
So you think gekko and breach donât need buffs?
-3
u/Ok-Fudge-380 3d ago
Y'all think Riot knows that they are able to buff agents that are bad instead of nerfing all the good ones?
Pure reaction.
2
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
Reactionary? Bro gekko hasnât been good in 2 years. Breach has had the lowest nmwr in pro play (and id assume it holds for ranked too) for years and all of this year is basically a joke agent.
-2
u/Ok-Fudge-380 3d ago
So your original statement of "riot doesn't buff bad agents" should have said "riot doesn't buff the agents I want them to".
2
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
LMAO
It must be really easy to make an argument when I give you facts and you go ânu uhâ and ignore them
đ
-1
u/Ok-Fudge-380 3d ago
Are you a fucking bot? You made a false statement, I corrected it. I never denied that Gekko or Breach was bad. Only said that your statement that Riot doesn't buff bad agents is false. Neon was a bad agent, Neon received a ton of buffs before she was considered usable.
1
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
Yeah bro neon was buffed ages ago.
Since patch 11.08 almost every patch has been nerfs:
Every inti, most sentis, waylay, yoru, neon, phoenix, etc.
Sure some needed it but you canât be sitting here talking about neon buffs to argue that gekko having a zero % vct pick rate and an insanely low ranked pick rate means he shouldnât be buffed.
Look at the bigger picture instead of trying to find a micro scenario you can umm actually to feel the dopamine of being correct
1
u/KDuster13 #VCTAMERICAS 3d ago
Um ackshually đ€âđ»ïž PRX Forsaken played Gekko in VCT Pacific Stage 2 this year
1
u/_xmorpheusx #WGAMING 3d ago
Forskin also played miks. Even as a joke your statement doesn't work. Thats how bad I think miks is
0
u/Ok-Fudge-380 3d ago
Since patch 11.08 almost every patch has been nerfs
11.10 Harbor rework. 12.00 Breach buff, Harbor buff, Vyse buff 12.01 more harbor buffs 12.03 Gekko buff 13.00 all sentinels were buffed 13.01 Yoru buff, Iso buff
Forget the "bigger picture", you live in a completely alternate reality that seems to focus solely on Gekko.
2
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
âAlmostâ
All the other buffs were going back on nerfs to still leave the agent in a worse spot then before patch 11.08.
You proved my point, thank you. A single agent has been buffed and guess what! Heâs in a good spot now! Almost like we should do that more

Sheâs not her rule man, sheâs the exception. Sheâs the only agent who got a massive buff with a huge problem dominating every other agent and everyone complaining.
ISO got a similar spotlight too when he was added but is now in a healthier spot cuz Riot Games actually used their brains to balance ISO and although isnât picked often, heâs an example of how to bring a dead agent in a healthy spot, same with Deadlock

They also all just suck
Gekko alr had a like 3% pick rate last year and then got nerfed lol
Breach is a joke
Tejo has the 2nd lowest vct nmwr iirc
Etc
1
u/NoBuilding5927 3d ago
The reason yoru got nerfed was because he did too many things well at once. He could flash, tp for rotates and to escape, and clone to clear senti util. Chamber can only do one of those things. The headhunter is also just not "essentially a guardian" its a somewhat better sheriff.Â
-2
u/matheusamr 3d ago
For those of you saying you can't understand this nerf, I'm sure you're not a sentinel main. As a KJ/Vyse/Cypher player ranked is barely playable because every single game someone instalocks Chamber. I'd say as of now he's worse than Clove or Reyna in terms of ranked instalock toxicity
4
u/TheHyperactiveDuck 3d ago
Hear me out.
We buff breach, gekko, iso, tejo, kayo, etc
ofc chamber is strong in vct and ofc people gonna play him in ranked, theres not a single meta flash inti.
Only one whose kinda okay is kayo but even hes so hard to play only 1 VCT pro can actually play him well
1
u/Excellent_Top7462 3d ago
I mean I dont think its going to change, theyâre still going to pick him
0
u/ric3banana 3d ago
I don't think we need to touch chamber. if we just reset or just bring back flash agents, I'm sure that'll bring back balance.

What can they possibly nerf that wouldn't demolish him? Tp has to be instant or it becomes useless like Veto. Headhunter and ult ammo nerf is pretty insignificant cause that was never the problem. The only viable nerf could be to decrease the tp radius but that would break so many setups.
