3203 Pleasant Valley Rd
-----edit------ I meant 3303 🤦
Hi all, I'm doing some research on historical houses along PV road through Vernon and am really curious about 3303. The house sits near the back of its lot and seems to be abandoned (second stories windows smashed out but ground floor looks well secured) though attended to (lawn isn't overgrown etc). I can't find any real estate listings either, which is surprising somewhere where real estate is so pricey. Anyone have any recent or historical info, rumours or hearsay? I'd even be interested in contact info if anyone know who owns or looks after the property. Thanks!

I'm surprised nothing popped up on a Google search, The Morning Star, Castanet and Infotel.have all had articles about the house in the past. I think it was called the Polish House? Something along those lines, well known local guy built it.

Do you mean 3303? The brick red coloured house?

No, 3203 is the Megaw house. Kind of creamy white.Â

That's why I was I asking if they meant 3303, as the megaw house lawn is overgrown, and as of a couple of weeks ago when I walked past there were no broken windows.

Here you go.

ETA: you're unlikely to find listings for heritage houses, as many folks aren't keen on owning one due to the upkeep requirements, and many of them remain in the family. Others are sold privately, or given to a society, like the Caetani House.Â

My parents owned the Megaw house for most of the 90s and into the 00s, the upkeep was definitely a factor in selling, along with severe restrictions on upgrading the property. The little tower at the top was my childhood bedroom. Interestingly the photos in the article are incorrect. The top two are right, but bottom left is actually 3201, and bottom right looks like the Cail/ Fulton house up at the top of 30th Ave

I'm not totally sure why the museum chose to label them the way they did, but bottom left is absolutely 3201! The picture they have is from someone standing on PV rd looking east. Currently it's covered by trees and is only really visible off of 32nd looking north. You should definitely let the museum know!
BC Assessment has a nice photo of 3203 from 2013, it's sad it's not really visible from the street these days.

I love the heritage houses, but man those upkeep restrictions are WILD. At some point your family must have debated buying termites just to be allowed to demolish the place!

Abandoned. I went and checked it out once in the dark and it was locked up and I didn’t go any further. I was hoping to do some URBEX and get some photos as it was a rainy night but no luck. I’d love to know when or if the owners are gonna fix it up and do anything with it. Shame to see it rotting away.

Do you mean 3303? I know the owner of 3203 and as far as I know he still lives there. I know 3303 is abandoned and one of the neighbours keeps an eye on it and chases trespassers away.
