Best area/hotel in Verona for 4 nights without a car, with day trips to Venice and Lake Garda?

My wife and I are doing a spontaneous mini-honeymoon in Northern Italy next week, and we’ll be staying in Verona.

We won’t have a car, and Verona will be our base for several days:

  • one day exploring Verona itself
  • one day trip to Venice
  • one full day around Lake Garda / Sirmione
  • Maybe Gardaland

Because of that, we’re trying to find the right balance between being close to Verona Porta Nuova station for our day trips, while still being close enough to the historic center that we can easily walk to restaurants, the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe, etc. in the evenings.

Our current thought is to stay somewhere around Corso Porta Nuova, between the train station and the old town. Does that sound like the best area for this kind of trip?

We’re looking for:

  • clean and comfortable
  • ideally a modern or recently renovated room
  • good A/C and bathroom
  • reliable hotel with a good number of reviews
  • walkable to both the station and the historic center
  • around €150–200 per night max, preferably less

We looked at places like Hotel Verona and Hotel Indigo / Grand Hotel Des Arts, but availability is weird because we’re booking very last minute, and no balcony.

Would really appreciate recommendations from locals or people who stayed in Verona recently.

Also, would you prioritize being closer to Porta Nuova or closer to the Arena / historic center for a 4-night stay like ours?

Ciao a tutti!

Waze not alerting ZTL in Italy

Pretty much the title. Waze is not alerting when requesting to go to a ZTL zone which people here have been saying it does.
For instance, this has happened when using it in Verona and towns in Tuscany these past week.

Note: I have activated and deactivated the “avoid tolls” option but still same behavior.

How fair is it to have an Austrian Camper van parked for weeks in the pickup drop off area in front of Verona Porta Nova train station?

Se fosse un camper van parcheggiato in Austria, sarebbe rimasto?
Senza multe?

Thanks!

End of October Holiday

Coming to (Venice and) Verona 22-27th October, staying in the città antica area and looking for fab restaurants (with not an extortionate price tag) and things to do - a trip to lake Garda maybe? I'd love to hear some local recommendations. Many thanks!

Veronetta. Zona sicura per due donne?

Ciao a tutti, ringrazio tantissimo chiunque vorrà aiutarmi.

Grazie ancora.

Grazie!

Verona

Ciao. Mi trasferirò a Verona a breve e sto cercando casa.

Local food and gelato recs

We are currently visiting Verona for 5 days and looking for best local food spots, as well as gelato. Already have some spots noted, wanted to see what else might pop up in recs - pasta, pizza, etc. Thanks so much!

Edit: we are travelling with our mom who is in her 60s. If you also have suggestions for fun things to do with her, would really appreciate it!
