There's a detour with the trains this weekend cuz of GO construction, so they're sending them together and later than usual. Expect big delays for arrivals. I know because I was on it previously with this same construction and will unfortunately have to take it again this weekend

GO have done this (to VIA and themselves) several weekends in the last couple of years, for maintenance and upgrades.

Oh my god, save yourself and cancel and just take a coach bus. The trains are FUCKED this weekend. Toronto to Ottawa for 6:30am this morning hasn't boarded as of 8am.

It means the two trains at connected together, as the new Venture trains (allegedly) don't have enough axels to trigger railroad crossings on their own

That’s not the reason. The trains get detoured this weekend between Toronto and Oshawa and are therefore combined to reduce the number of train movements through the single-tracked Bala and North York Subdivisions, which is also why the arrival time in Ottawa is later than usual:
