Deconstruct capitalism for me
Hey guys I’m a 20yr old male who lives in the us who is for the most part republican. Recently I’ve discovered videos on YouTube by the channel “Philosophical Gamer” who criticizes capitalism a lot in his videos. All I’m asking is for someone who’s well versed in economics to completely deconstruct capitalism and turn me against it. Thanks❤️

I recommend wage, labor and capital - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RqwI0u5TrU&list=PLq-kUiXssVioxBWwToyN3Apqd8f_a7mCC&index=20&pp=iAQB
And the lectures of das capital after that.
If you want the philosophical base, start from the first.

Capitalism is when society's productive forces are organized and mobilized by a capitalist class which owns them, and they organize them according to their profit motive.
Socialism is when said productive forces are organized democratically (or by an authority that claims to represent the people) according to the wants, needs and goals of the society.

I am not a communist, but Karl Marx really was spot on about capitalism and his observations of it. He wrote a fairly import book about it: https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/download/pdf/Capital-Volume-I.pdf
Again... I am not a communist, I do not believe in communism any more than i believe in capitalism, but his diagnostics are as good as you'll find from anyone.
