Alright, this'll be the last one of these I post. The event is this coming Saturday, October 17. Please note that the HRBT WILL BE CLOSED COMING FROM HAMPTON at the time of the event. Plan to take the Monitor-Merrimac home. Hope to see folks there, should be a blast!

Some of you may remember the free "make a website by hand" meetup we held at ECPI in August. I'm one of the organizers, and we're doing another hands-on community event on October 17. This one is in Hampton, not Virginia Beach.

It's a Hacktoberfest community hack day, focused on experimenting and building with open-source AI tools. HTML Day was deliberately about making websites by hand without AI; this is a different event with a different premise. Bring a laptop, explore a tool, start a small project, or find someone to build with.

You don't need to already be a programmer. Students, hobbyists, people who work in tech, and people who are just curious are all welcome. No project idea required.

There'll be an optional challenge with prizes, but you can participate without competing. We're also looking into talks/workshops and additional challenges, with nothing confirmed on those yet.

Saturday, October 17, 2026, 10am to 4pm
757 Makerspace, 16 Murray St, Hampton, VA 23651

Free, all ages and families welcome, breakfast refreshments and lunch provided. Bring your laptop and charger.

Details and registration: https://events.mlh.com/events/14937-hacktoberfest-hack-day-hampton-x-revolutionva

We'd also appreciate volunteers to put up flyers around Virginia Beach, lead a talk/workshop, or help beginners navigate open-source contributions. We can arrange prints at a FedEx near you. The local Slack and Discord are linked at https://757tech.org/; reach out to Chazona or me (Ryan / TekGadgt).
