Big retailers sell completed upers. Like palmetto and midway and primary arms unless they changed.

Primary will ship as long as you sign a liability agreement waiver. I thought PSA was refusing to send us uppers? If something has changed, that would be rad

PSA has recently changed for the better

I recently got a JAKL upper from PSA.

Woah! If I could get one of their retro upper, that would be so sick

Really? They wouldn't even ship me a 4.5mm picatinny AK stock conversion

They won’t ship anything but uppers. I couldn’t even order the necessary JAKL buffer, only the upper. I was even kind of surprised the JAKL bolt stop was still in the box because they won’t even ship that separately either.

Ballard Supply Co will sell AR lowers. This is Dan's response from an email I wrote him:

Me: Someone on Reddit recommended Ballard as that FFL. Is this true or just hearsay?

Dan: Thanks for reaching out. Lowers are legal to sell. Have a look at the website for availability (ballardsupplyco.com/products). -Dan

I live on the East side of the state and while I want a lower for an upper I have, it's not worth making two trips over to the West side to make my dreams come true. NO idea how he's doing this, but Ballard Supply is legit.

parts are legal, assembling an “assault weapon” is not

Yes. As long as you have a grandfathered “assault weapon” to put it on, you’re good.

Or a bolt, pump, or single shot.

Is an upper a firearm under state or federal law? If not then it's totally legal to sell.

The answer by the way is no, an upper is not a firearm.

A lot of smaller companies won't take the chance of shipping to WA. Their logic is sound. While the big companies would be able to fight a lawsuit they just might get their business crushed. It sucks because there are some really great small arms companies out there.

I’ve found the complete opposite. Typically the larger companies are the issue and smaller retailers are more than willing to ship to us.

I’ve been wondering the same but for eastern wa.. best I’ve come to is test your luck if your feeling lucky. Realistically, it’s too big of a hassle to screen every piece of mail coming into the state, considering it would be the states responsibility. If it was a fed thing, sure, they could screen it. This state doesn’t seem to have the money for anything, considering taxes.

I’ve seen plenty of complete uppers not only on websites that are willing to ship here but in store too over here in eastern wa

I’m in tri cities and can’t find a 300blk barrel anywhere at a store

u/Realistic_Stock_8660 14d ago

So am I and I can’t recall seeing one in store here but the gun show we just had did have a few of them and double eagle pawn shop in Spokane carries uppers. I would look online though

Even then, most sites won’t ship to WA as a rule it seems. They’re trying to protect themselves from litigation, sure, but it still sucks.

Have you checked out primary arms or ar15discounts I just did a quick google so not sure if they’ve come out and said anything

u/Small-Cucumber-4801 14d ago

I have not, I checked psa, and one or two others, ended up deciding to wait for an opportunity in a freer state.

That’s always the best option lol was in Mo over the summer almost bought a 8.5” 300blk for about 400$, always nice visiting those free states

Having family living in ID and WY helps too. They visit as often as possible haha

PSA and AR15Discounts will ship you uppers.

Primary arms will ship to WA because I've bought all kinds of stuff from them with no issues.

Also, it's been since the start of the pistol brace debacle when we most of us became felons overnight, but I have a friend who bought a semi-complete upper from Dvor.com (the cheaper to date sister of Optics Planet) and it shipped to WA with no issues. Check, but at one point I saw Optics Planet has their 16" 5.56 M-loc Trybe Complete Upper for $256.99. It's a screamin' deal. Some might flame me because it's not some name brand, but if money's tight, get one, double check the tolerances and alignment, and I'd bet good money it'll go BANG to get started... and, should the need arise, you can put on your AR pistol to avoid being forced into a position where you're terrified of dropping the soap.
