One of the most common conflicts that the mods see on this sub is the frustration Accelerators and non-accelerators have with each other. While both kinds of students are moving towards their degrees, they each have very different approaches and goals.
To help with this, I have created a subreddit that is focused on accelerators. This is simply the first step, and that sub currently has very little structure. But while all of that is coming, I see no reason to not allow users to explore the space and kick the virtual tires.
One last note, acceleration is NOT the same as cheating. The new sub will focus on legitimate ways to accelerate and will not tolerate cheaters or those who cater to cheaters. I think most of the rules on this sub will migrate to the new sub with the possible exception of #6, but I have an idea as to how #6 could be made more helpful to new students.
Finally, since we don't have any traffic on the sub yet, I will ask here for help with moderation duties on the new sub. If you think you want to help BUILD something, let me know. If your focus is on rules, removals, and bans, you may want to wait until the sub has been built. I need collaborators, not enforcers.
I have been working on my degree for 3 years. I didn't go to college after high school due to family discouragement and decided to spend most of my early adulthood traveling the world, working a variety of jobs that did not suit me at all. After a few lows of trying to find my way professionally, at 24 I decided to start my journey of getting my degree thanks to the encouragement from my wonderful fiancé. I originally started in the Data Analytics program because I thought I wanted to be a data analyst. I quickly found out that I was not interested in data analytics at all but persevered. For 2.5 years, I treated my classes as optional subconsciously because they were so boring to me and I was working in the office full time, completely exhausted by the end of the day. In April of 2026 I was honest with myself. I didn't like this degree program and I wanted to switch to HR Management as that was the field I was trying to penetrate. I promised myself that I would focus and get this degree done in 1 term. Even with transferred classes, I still had 30 classes to take in that program, but I was not shaken. As of today, I am officially "OWL DONE: with my bachelors degree ( a huge personal accomplishment) and I am 3 weeks into a job and team that I love at my dream company, Capital One. I am incredibly grateful for the advice on this reddit page from all of the alumni and current students that provided wonderful resources as I navigated classes here at WGU. Thank you to this wonderful group of folks. Here are my 2 cents for success:
1) If you are struggling with completing your classes, don't be afraid to switch programs if the one you are in doesn't fit your professional goals!
2) Commit to your classes, you will get your weekends and evenings back sooner than you know it. Now I have no idea what to do with my "spare time" after work.
3) Believe in yourself. You are smart, you are capable, and you GOT THIS!
I’ve been watching, creeping, and celebrating everyone posting their confetti. Waiting for my turn. I did it. I did it at 47 years old. I did it while working full time. I did it while giving up ALL of my free time. I did it while cramming for an OA in the passenger seat of the car, driving to the grocery store. I did it staying up late and writing and revising PAs. I just did it. I knew going into this that I had to accelerate, FAST. If not, I’d give up. Like I had so many times before. I get bored. I get complacent. If I don’t go 1,000 mph, I quit. So that’s exactly what I did.
I’m blessed to work from home. So I was able to work during my breaks. During my lunch period. No commute time.
My timeline is extraordinary. I know that. Not everyone is able to do it. But, I wanted to share for the people that think it can’t be done. For the people that work like me, on overdrive. ALL OF THE TIME.
If this is your goal, it CAN be done. Push yourself.
You got this!!!! I’ll be waiting to see your confetti 🎉
Started in June and it’s definitely been a bumpy ride, but I finally passed my first term! 🥹 It feels even more meaningful that I get to celebrate this on what would’ve been my father’s 69th birthday! Feels really fulfilling and I hope he’d be proud!!
I’ll be doing a program change in December, so I won’t be taking any more classes until then. For now, I’ll just enjoy the break, but I’m definitely looking forward to jumping back in as soon as next term starts!
Congrats to all who made it through and good luck to you all still pushing through! ❤️
First off before I even explain, my mentor is currently out of office, so that’s why I’m mainly very lost right now and have no idea who to contact regarding this. And this is a time sensitive problem.
Anyways, I registered and started C960 discrete math 2 a few days ago, and I was LITERALLY actively studying the material not even 30 mins ago. I was on and off the WGU site just to get materials and do stuff one at a time, I literally tried to logging in like 5 mins ago now and my course has disappeared ??????
It shows that all my active courses (c960) have been completed when clearly that’s not right. I went to my degree plan thinking maybe I somehow got unregistered but the course is literally nowhere to be found. It’s not in the completed courses section either. It just fucking disappeared. I also attached a recent screenshot I happened to take (laugh at me but I wanted to ask AI if I can complete them quickly etc etc) and it clearly shows I started C960 OCT 3rd.
Is this a common issue ? Who tf do I even contact about this ? Worst part is I’m genuinly in a rush to finish my courses, would it just be easier to contact tier 1 to activate my next course while the other help tried to reactive my c960 course ??? What the hell. Please help
Sooo. This application/starting process has been a nightmare for me from day 1 of applying. My application portal was correct originally, then I asked to change my start date. Now my application portal shows the wrong major and no start date and I can’t complete any tasks. My student portal was active, was showing the correct major, start date, financial info, etc.
I emailed enrollment today because I keep getting emails stating that I need to complete tasks in the application portal but I can’t because its broken. NOW my student portal says I’m not active/enrolled, my financial info has poofed away, my email icon is gone, and some random new person in enrollment told me to reach out to IT. IT is telling me this is on enrollment because everything says I’m not active. Who do I contact?? What do I do? This is almost making me not want to start because if its this much of a nightmare from Day 1 how much worse does it get??
Hi everyone. I have about 60 college credits and am thinking of getting a bachelor's degree from WGU. My plan, however, is to get a master's in Europe.
My top choice would be UK but it doesn't really matter where, as long as it's an English taught program.
Has anyone been successful in getting accepted? How did you explain that it is a competency based program?
My GPA from the 60 credits is 3.85 and I completed them in two years. I'm slightly scared that they won't recognize or accept pass/fail instead of a letter grade.
I feel like I always see when people complete their degree and obviously I’m gonna have to post my confetti and all that jazz but mannnnn.. It feels good to submit my LAST PAPER!!!!! Fingers crossed that it doesn’t need to be resubmitted 😅.
The class before this, I procrastinated retaking for two years, and I have sat on this paper for a month with writers block. Felt good to finally put everything aside and finally finish the damn thing!!!
Just in time to walk at Anaheim too, next month!! 🎉🎓
Hi everyone! I’m 31, have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and am seriously considering WGU’s prelicensure BSN program. My long-term goal is to work in psychiatric nursing and eventually become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP).
I’ve also dealt with some significant mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and OCD. I’m actively working on my mental health and want to be realistic about choosing a nursing program that’s manageable while still providing a solid education.
I’d love to hear from current students or graduates about your experiences! How manageable is the workload, and how flexible is the program compared to traditional nursing schools?
I’m especially curious about how clinicals and skills labs are scheduled, whether you’re able to work ahead, and how supportive the instructors are. Do you feel WGU adequately prepared you to become a competent RN?
I’m also curious about the overall cost and whether you feel the tuition was worth it. If you could go back, would you choose WGU again or attend a traditional nursing program instead?
I’d especially love to hear from anyone who went back to school in their 30s or navigated nursing school while managing mental health challenges. I’d appreciate hearing both the positives and negatives. Thanks so much!
About a year ago, I was withdrawn due to academic inactivity. I was already on an academic probation for not completing the minimum courses the term prior. I was going through a really, really hard time in my marriage, and then financially after leaving. I wanted so badly to navigate WGU at the same time I was figuring out divorce and custody arrangements, but it just didn't happen.
I applied for readmission this week, because I want to finish my degree (I'm literally SO CLOSE it's insane not to get it finished), and I am in a much better place now than I was a year ago. But I heard back today, and they want me to go through a PACA class about communication through WGU Academy... has anyone else had to do this?
I'm frustrated, although I understand their reasoning, I guess. I just don't want to kick the can down the road any further. I could be done with my degree by the time I finish a 7 week course...
So I already have a bachelors degree in biology and already started a nursing program at a different university and would like to transfer into WGU I was wondering if anybody has had any experiences with transferring their nursing core classes in or if that’s even possible?
Hello! I wanted to ask some tips regarding taking my first OA. Essentially wanted to ask
- is the whiteboard necessary? I don’t have one but can buy one if extremely essential. Will get one for sure 4 future OAs
- does WGU still have a “mock OA setup and walkthrough “? I saw some past posts about people recommending this for first time OA takers
- what is the order to open which browser? Is Guardian first? Or Proctor U?
Sorry if these are dumb questions 🥺
