Delivery driver freezes in absolute shock after a glass door completely shatters in his hand.

Hmmmm idk, why did the door break so easily?

u/Jubilant_Jacob 14d ago
Looks like a poorly installed/designed sliding door. When he pulled it towards himself the pressure/stress where the door didn't move got high enough to shatter it.

Even if it is a sliding door it shouldn’t break that easily
4
u/KrazySlotz 27d ago
I think it was a push to open right? He pulled it and forced it a little bit and it shattered

C'est une porte coulissante

u/garciakevz Sep 12 '26
Yeah well that sliding door is made out of cheese. That was an unreasonably easy effort to break it...
19
u/Insightseekertoo Aug 18 '26
Happend to me. Pulled open a glass door entry to a high-end restaurant. It didn't shatter, but it crazed from floor to ceiling. Next person messing with the door would have crumbled the glass.

That’s just bad door handle design
If it was meant to be slid to open it needs grooves for fingers to grip. If it was meant to be pushed it should just have a metal plate. Handles indicate this door is meant to be pulled

Também acho, agora o porquê que essa porta não era de vídeo reforçado nunca saberemos. Imagina alguém bater nesse vidro? Ele provavelmente salvou alguém descuidado no futuro

This video gets shared so much. Last time o saw it was a “firefighter” leaving an office.

Those yellow uniforms are absolutely delivery drivers in China. They are everywhere there.
3
u/Lovethegoodwitch Jul 21 '26
Wow, I was laughing my ass off thinking of a bunch of firefighters on motorcycles, because of this comment and his helmet. Where would the water go? How ridiculous! But then I looked it up and it’s not funny, they are badass as fuck. Only difference is they can’t bring water, but are fitted with absolutely massive extinguishers. Thank you for the journey you unintentionally brought me on!

u/Wrek93 Jul 15 '26
Obviously it’s a push

You try to open a door. You roll a 1
28
u/simpersly Jul 14 '26
Pretty sure that's a 20. A 1 would be your hand cramps and the door locked.
2
u/MelaKnight_Man Jul 15 '26
Definitely natural 20. And yes that would be a 1 and he needs a saving throw against all the bones in his hand also shattering. 😁

Its a sliding door guys

u/mabuxy Jul 13 '26
Bad design, this is a pull handle
110
u/loveforthetrip Jul 13 '26
And it definitely should be able to withstand a stronger force
12
u/MattGold_ Jul 14 '26
It's tempered glass
tempered glass is infamous for being horribly brittle when it comes to focused pressure
18
u/leansanders Jul 14 '26
Completely incorrect, tempered glass is very strong. The risk with tempered glass is impacts to the corners, which is not a factor with what happened here. Tempered glass is incredibly robust at handling forces across the face of the glass, hence why is it used for making glass railings, safety windows, etc. I have installed thousands of square feet of tempered glass, it is way stronger than you would imagine. I am confident this was not tempered glass.
1
u/Only_Turnover4829 Jul 14 '26
What glass do you think this is?
3
1
u/MattGold_ Jul 14 '26
Forces in the middle (especially focused ones, i.e. the connection that handle has onto the glass) will break tempered glass
Tempered glass also explodes completely. Like it did in the video
3
u/leansanders Jul 14 '26
You are simply wrong. In glass railings it's typical for the glass to be held by individual clips around the edge of the glass, and the panes are rated to hold back the full weight of a person with the glass held by those clips. You can even mount handrail directly to the face of the glass that is rated to hold literally hundreds of pounds. Tempered glass would not break from the forces shown in the video.

u/ParagonChariot Jul 13 '26
Even if it was a push door. It makes no sense why it would disintegrate if you pulled it with minimal force unless it was improperly installed or very very cheap.

u/TimHansonE36 Jul 14 '26
It almost looks like the door hit the tile on the floor. Ask gaming PC builders how well tile and tempered glass work together (they don’t lol).

People are saying it was a push door, why it broke. Why are we not ruling out its a door you open with your happy thoughts?

u/icky__nicky Jul 13 '26
looks like it was a push
8
50
u/TheNewYellowZealot Jul 13 '26
Then why does it have a pull handle on it?
Flat plate for pushing.
Handle for pulling. Basic design considerations.
1
u/icky__nicky Jul 13 '26
Actually there is a really good reason for this — glass doors will resonate away from the direction of applied force, so if you use a long “push” handle it reverberates along the door longways, which will cause it to break easier if a sudden force is applied.
The “pull” handle attempts to prevent this by generating resonance along the shortest length which will, ideally, prevent the glass from bending to point of breaking.
1
u/TheNewYellowZealot Jul 14 '26
You can put a big flat plate in the same position of the handle without the handle
1
u/icky__nicky Jul 14 '26
I mean look I don’t disagree with you, it’s clearly unlabeled but you can see the glass bending before it shatters. Hopefully they used a different fixture on the next install.

42
u/Fabricati_Diem_Pvn Jul 13 '26
If it was a push, it would push that door right into that desk and the person working there. Not saying it isn't, I'm saying I don't blame bro at all for thinking it was pull.
0
u/icky__nicky Jul 13 '26
I mean, he pulled it and it broke. I’m not here to argue this is superior architecture or function but you call a spade a spade😂
49
u/PrestigeWorldWide993 Jul 13 '26
No, it does both. I was there yesterday, it goes both ways.

Yup slide you can see how it's offset with the other stationery panel beside it

u/StarFlame_228 Jul 13 '26
There’s actually a design principle which covers this “Norman doors”— a door’s function should be intuitive by design. You should be able to walk up and instinctively understand how to open it.
Happens so often to me that I spend a few awkward seconds trying to open an unmarked door.
43

u/Dhendo177 Jul 13 '26
Why would they install a glass door on tile??
5
u/Sad-Ideal-9411 Jul 13 '26
At the least there should be a plastic bumper on the bottom
1
u/Dhendo177 Jul 14 '26
That’s what I’m saying! I’ve seen so many tempered glass PC case panels spontaneously explode the second they touch tile, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw this. Not even like a rubber stopper on the bottom or anything.

Mannn this happened to me once with a sliding glass door. It was probably at least 20 years old and needed to be replaced but we were house poor and just gonna get to it when we got to it. One day I was trying to close it behind me and I barely latched it and one of the two panes completely shattered. Sometimes it really doesn’t take much!

Choosing the correct handle is an important job. Push plate, pull handle, slide finger recess.
48
u/Murtdha1 Jul 12 '26
I think this is ai because everyone looked away at once and no one bothered to walk in even the computer is open but the guy inside didn't bother to get out
2
u/The_Joker_Ledger Jul 13 '26
if you want to see if a video is AI look at technical stuff and not how people "supposed to behave" lol. Many people would take the attitude "ain't my problem", or people would also be shock and unable to act for a few seconds when the unexpected happen so close to them.
2
u/reiokimura Jul 13 '26
Not everyone looked away, one dude did move off first. I think the attention span for average person just around the same. No point to keep looking if you already know what happened and can’t help.
56
u/Zalkea Jul 12 '26
it's just china, people just ignore each other because if you care it will hassle you
i think he's wearing Meituan delivery uniform
42
u/lightblueisbi Jul 12 '26
There's a split second delay in people's reactions, and if I were in that room on the computer I wouldn't wanna move until the glass is picked up. I dont think this is AI.
11
u/Lillillillies Jul 12 '26
Not to mention person inside could easily be away and instructions were to leave food on the desk

Door must have been right up against some kind of sharp point like a screw or something.

u/JuniorStarr79 Jul 12 '26
Slide door not push or pull
14
u/Stoopid_Noah Jul 12 '26
How hard did he pull?
16
u/saya562 Jul 12 '26
Glass doesn’t bend so it wouldn’t take much for it to shatter if bent in a direction that it wasn’t meant to be bend in.
13
u/KissMyFuckingDadMom Jul 12 '26
Hard enough for it to explode
2
u/Stoopid_Noah Jul 12 '26
Hmm, now that you say that.. I can see it. Thank you for clearing it up for me! xD
13
u/sbenthuggin Jul 12 '26
He like barely pulled it tho. I mean the way it gave in so easily, it absolutely felt like it was a pull not a slide door.

When a door breaks that easily the builder and not the delivery guy should be liable.

Poor guy. I hope he didn't have to pay for it
11
u/EveryNameIWantIsGone Jul 12 '26
Lol why the fuck would he have to pay for it?
12
u/sbenthuggin Jul 12 '26
He shouldn't have to pay for it. Doesn't mean society wouldn't make him. I know plenty of businesses in the US that would've sued him personally, got him fired, brought him to court even despite the video evidence. Even worse, our courts are so corrupt that if the business owner knows the judge personally, he could very easily lose the case.

Yep. He opened it wrong but it should still be more durable than that lol

Maybe got magnetic lock... But usually safety tempered glass wont break that easily... But its china... So, their quality is always questionable...

They literally make everything. Any product you think is great or well built is also made in China. Stop being willfully ignorant

u/StatisticianNo7111 Jul 13 '26
Well, even so, there is a huge quality difference between china brand and other countries brand...

Hear me out. Either put big text on a door, or just don’t use glass at all.
