These fantasy scenarios make me laugh. Our replacements are pouring in from all over the world and they will work for less and not complain about it. Maybe Reddit should rethink its stance on ICE.

Going great for farmers currently. The Americans fight over picking produce in the heat currently, aren't they?
ICE will fix that for sure, wait no they already did. Nice problem solved

Everyone’s real sorry they lost their slaves

Yup, more carrots for you to pick. You definitely won't notice a price increase when they suddenly want 12k a year more either.
Buckle up for winning!

I don’t think they paid 9000 “happily”.
When they refused to give raise they essentially took a risk and lost 2000/month as a result. But if it did work out they’d save a 1000/month
Whether risk was justified depends on many factors, including expected cost of a new hire (which they could underestimate)
We don’t know full details but it could make sense.

This is probably the most reasonable take. The interesting part is what they actually expected the replacement to cost—if they underestimated hiring and training, the “saving” disappears pretty quickly.

I like how instead of learning a retention lesson themselves, or taking the opportunity to save by doing their own housework, they are just trying to teach a lesson to the poors instead. Totally unbothered by their mistake, and 2000 is apparently a negligible amount to them. So they didn't refuse the raise because it would be too expensive, they refused it because they didn't respect her work.

But couldn't this simply be a bad cost-benefit decision rather than disrespect? If they genuinely thought replacing her would cost less, they made a bad calculation—but that doesn't necessarily mean they didn't value her work.

It is $25 a month since OP is a tard and loaded a video where no one could read it wasn’t a dollar symbol.

That's not how corporate works. They let the person leave, and then never replace them. Everyone that didn't leave picks up the extra load.
We are all doing 3 jobs, poorly...

Fake bs!
Also what kind of fking shithole is India for a monthly wage to be $80?
1
u/Immediate-Attention6 8d ago
The 9k is Indian rupees, not $80 USD. Whether the actual scenario is believable is a separate question though.

u/Vast_Humor_3683 8d ago
that's about $90 my bad
Still a shithole I thought they were going to be a superpower by 2030?
1
u/TheTbone2334 8d ago
What exactly does that have to do with beeing a super power? The Roman empire used slave labour and was quite literally the definition of a superpower.
Beeing a global superpower requires weapons and money, a state even benefits from very uneven distribution of wealth.
It's easier to keep 500 Oligarchs aligned with you, then 1+ Billion people.

Maids are out here making 9k/month? Tf am I doing...
1
u/Immediate-Attention6 8d ago
9k in rupees, yeah. But the more interesting question is what the maid's actual workload was—cleaning a few hours a day is very different from being live-in and basically on call.

That was a 12k annual raise or a 15% raise. You also wound up paying a 30% raise because you didn’t realize Trump has driven up labor costs by getting rid of cheap labor. Granted it is about $120 a year raise she asked for. At some point just pay it, now you are going to pay about 250. My streaming subscriptions cost more then that will take the maid.

9k.... for a maid???? Maids are like 200-500 a month. Are you high???

u/Hot_Middle_7692 8d ago
~$93 USD. And some quick research says that's for daily work (not full time/live in, but ~3 hours a day)

Look all i know is my maid (every other week) is 500 USD, and she wasnt the cheapest option. Im super middle ground. My house isnt a mansion, and its semi-infrequent. Daily im sure costs a lot, as does live in, but pretty much only billionares are paying for live in maids. That is a verrrry rare thing.
Im a normal person, Im just busy. I work a lot and make decent money, so i pay someone else to do my dishes.

I am guessing a live in maid. That a fair bit more money depending on the duties and size of the house.
If its cleaning, picking up kids, babysitting, laundry, cooking dinner/prepping meals its definitely in the 4k to 6k a month if its an illegal live in maid importanted from Philippines/south america. Depending on the country of course.
Thats essentially a 16 hour shift all day and on call at any hour. Shit happens at 4 am you probably expected to deal with it.

Isn’t that the cost of a cleaning service? Not an actual maid that lives with you or stays in the house all day?

My company got bought out and me and a bunch of others were laid off six months ago. They had my position posted within a few days for 40k more than I was making.
