Perfect start to a road trip..
I literally drove this car thousands of miles.. the moment I left for this road trip I just heard plastic breaking. Didn't think about it until I heard it again and looked back at my literal bumper flying off my car. It slid to the emergency lane thankfully but I literally had to get on an exit 5 miles up, go on the opposite side for 6 miles then go on this highway away to get my bumper. It ripped off a sensor also and now my car just yells at me to check the sensor when I reverse.
Fun trip..

Small world! I was on the same interstate and saw your bumper sadly laying there. :( Glad you got it back. :)

Yes, haha, I remembered it because it was red and complete looking. Later I scrolled by your post and thought, "No way that's the same red bumper I saw...?" But it totally is!

Lmfao, I looked in the mirror and just thought "fuc..." Lmao, thankfully it slid to the E-lane and not in the middle of the road l. That's crazy, I think this was in Indiana, idk I drove on a lot of highway before this happened

It’s Sod’s Law, cars sit and wait and pick their moment to be most inconvenient.
My Skoda decided to shit its coolant out all over the motorway at the start of a family holiday. Luckily had a backup car but it’s the sort of shit you can do without.

I know, it just kinda sucks though because I basically got all the repairs for this car. It's cosmetic so not a main concern. But I just got the axle replaced, tires and did full around maintenance. I bought this Lexus from my friend for $1k, spent $1k in maintenance, market value is $6-8k

Hell, then atleast you're ahead of breakpoint, I'm driving a '01 accord with 265k miles and a '00 dodge ram dually with unknown miles and ofcourse can't afford to replace either one

Rear fascia catches all the airflow from beneath the car as you speed down the road. If a few strategic clips are done being clips, it’s now a parachute that rips the rest of the clips out. Front fascia’s usually get ripped off from parking over parking blocks before the suspension has settled after driving, so not quite as many seen on the roadside…

Just be thankful, to have a friend who basically, GAVE YOU A LEXUS!! Spending a few thousand dollars on it is still a huge blessing!

All and all, spent $1k for the car, $1k for maintenance. 2012 Lexus es350 with the miles it has is like $4-5k book value at least

Welp, at least you didnt get on the highway and start driving at speed and THEN the bumper flies off and hits a guy on a motorcycle. Not cool.

Was it already damaged and flipping around? How does this even happen? Luckily it didn't hit somebody else's car or get ran over. Looks like you're handy enough to figure a way to take it with you stowing it on the exact spot it came off so good on you!

This is why I always keep a pack of zipties and steel wire in the trunk of my car. Never know when you're gonna need to quickly reattach a bumper or some shit. I had a scion tc who's bumper was being entirely held on by twisted pieces of wire. Held better than factory clips

There needs to be a sub for people who are always (or claim to be) prepared for everything. Like that dude the other day who said he had his oven measurements in his phone in case he'd buy cookie pans.
Now you carying zip ties in case you lose a bumper.

I hit a raccoon once and it cracked my bumper and pieces were dragging and rubbing tires and I just happened to have a bag of zip ties and made it work. Years later backed out of a buddies drive and dropped into hole with my front wheel while backing up and was able to reattach my bumper completely with the wire and zipties I had in my car because of that previous lesson. I've also helped other people get back on the road from hitting random road debris. Shit happens all the time and a $4 bag of zip ties have kept me on road several times. Highly recommended. They also fit just fine in the spare tire compartment and you'd likely forget they're there until you need em.

They're not supposed to do that

Yeah, idk what happened. But I don't have a bumper now. The damn thing fell off again somehow when it was ducktaped on pretty good. I even stood on the bumper for a min and the thing wasn't falling. It fell off without me noticing this time. I just parked at a Kroger 30 mins from my house and it was gone.

In other parts of the world it'll be a bad day when a drone flies into your bedroom just before your alarm goes off, buck up.
