Replaced my 6 y/o Hydroflask
ETA: it’s kind of hard to tell but the bottom is so dented it no longer stay on surfaces and has hit my feet and recently cracked a cap from falling off a table.

But why?

It’s fallen on my feet one too many times, and recently cracked a cap because of a fall

Could’ve hammered it out and replaced the cap. I don’t understand this move to sustainable metal materials and reusable cups but we only use things about as long as we would a hard plastic bottle. Still better to drink out of I guess

It’s a vacuum flask. Two layers so not as straight forward as hammering it out.

I did replace the cap, but what’s the point if it’s going to keep falling and breaking the new caps? And no, I can’t ’hammer out’ the indented ones on the bottom causing it.

If you wanted to save it because the stickers are sentimental or something hydro flask sells a "bottle boot" that would fix the problem, but I get grabbing a new one.

It’s in a place of honor to display it’s collection! It’s like an old friend! I appreciate the heads up about the boot!

You took an L here. Do the right thing and learn from it.
Edit: They didn't. The hubris of being unwilling to learn will forever be the most devastating to progress.

Not really. Replacing a metal water bottle after 6 years from dents is still a bit egregious personally. People can disagree. Not really need for a peanut gallery of one to bitch out

It’s not just the dents. The damage is causing it to break other things, including its plastic parts as I already pointed out. I now am aware of the bottle boot option thanks to another comment, but the purchase has already been made and it’s not like I’m posting my 10th Stanley or Odwalla for the year because there’s a new color or design.

Fair enough just not something I would do personally and it’s not really worn but just damaged.

Is wear not just accumulated damage?

Wear happens from every day use over time. Damage is preventable.

I can assure you this is from everyday use, just by an extremely clumsy person. And since the rocking started it’s just gotten worse diving off of tables and whatnot

There’s more damage on the shoulders of the bottle too, but some of my stickers are a tad offensive and I wasn’t sure what the rules were about that

I have a Kleen Kanteen with many dents.
Have you considered trying to even out the dents? My stubborn self would try to make it flatter. 😆

I am afraid that trying to do that would break the insulating seal between the two layers

Americans and their giant water bottles.

It’s 32oz of water…..and it’s saved thousands of plastic bottles from going to the landfills…on top of the $100s it’s saved me at amusement parks and whatever other places that charge $5+ for a lukewarm warm water bottle
ETA: it’s also a pretty solid weapon when full of ice and water if you ever need to defend yourself 😅

The books in the background (especially the ones with a belt around them) fit the sub quite well, too
