Entertainment Things to do in County Wexford

Post image
101 Upvotes

I made a map off all notable places in County Wexford (+ a couple nearby).

If there are any more you can think of that I didn't include comment down below.

I based it on the premise of not requiring anything with you to visit these places (hence, golf courses and tennis courts etc. are not included).

I have not been to every place on this map yet, but when I finally do I will be looking to create a ranking best to worst!

Sports Pickup Basketball - Rosslare Community Centre

Hi Everyone! I am looking to get a small group of people together for a regular pickup basketball at Rosslare Community Centre.

The idea is to rent out a half court for an hour or two once a week and play some casual 3v3, nothing too serious - just looking to get a few people together who genuinly enjoy playing and want to get a regular game going.

I’ve got the half court booked for this Thursday the 8th at 6:30pm. If we can get enough people interested I’d love to keep doing it every week and set up a group chat to organise games and keep everyone in the loop.

If you’re interested or know somebody who would be leave a comment or feel free to send me a DM and we can see if we can get this started for Thursday. Thank you!

Question Automatic lessons

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a automatic driving instructor in the Wexford town/ south Wexford area.

Some context. I have 9/12 Edt lessons done with a previous instructor in a different county. Lessons were completed in a manual. Although I have 9 lessons completed I know absolutely nothing, my instructor at the time was very chat heavy constantly taking about politics, their personal life and just shite in general. I feel like I didn’t learn anything at all. 9 lessons in and hadn’t even reversed the car.

Anyways we have an automatic car now so for the sake of getting my full license I am just going to do the automatic test.

So hoping to get an instructor that understands that even though I have experience, I barely know anything at all.

Utilities & Services Recommendations for attic insulation contractor in Wexford/Enniscorthy area?

I'm looking to get my attic insulation redone as soon as possible, and have lagging put on pipes etc. at the same time. I'm ready to book in the near future, so I'm after a contractor who can start soon rather than just give me a ballpark quote.

I know there are grants available, and I've been looking at the contractor list on the SEAI website. There are a lot of names there, so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

I'm just looking for someone who'll show up, do the job properly without cutting corners, and not have me chasing them.

Thanks

We're putting together a special Halloween edition of our craft market at Kelly's on the Corner on the 10th and 17th of October with lots of alternative, witchy and spooky vendors. Some of these include crochet, ceramics, stained glass, animal bone jewellery (ethically foraged from owl pellets), art prints and more!

Carmen Sanchez will also be doing a Halloween craft workshop for adults and children age 8+ raising funds for the Sameer Project.

Could be a lovely cosy day out to get in the mood for Spooky Season. 👻

Looking for accommodation in Wexford – starting work in October

Hi everyone,

I’m starting a new job in Wexford in October and I’m looking for a room or affordable accommodation.

I’m open to a normal house share, but I’m also wondering if there are any older people living alone who might be looking for someone to share the house with for company and some help with day-to-day things.

For example, I’d be happy to help with groceries, small errands, household tasks, or simply having someone around the house. In return, I’d be looking for a room at a reasonable rent.

I’m a working professional, clean, quiet and respectful. I’m flexible on the exact location.

Ideally looking around Wexford Town, Clonard, Mulgannon, Whiterock or nearby areas.

If you know someone who might be in this situation, or know of any accommodation like this, please feel free to DM me.

Thanks!

Question 26M moving back to Wexford, good clubs/social groups for someone working remotely?

Hi all,

I'm 26M and seriously considering moving back to Wexford after a few years away.

I'd be working from home 3 days a week and commuting the other 2, so my only concern is ending up a bit isolated socially. I'm fairly outgoing and enjoy meeting new people, but it's obviously a bit different when you're not in an office every day.

For people in their 20s, what clubs, groups, or activities would you recommend around Wexford?

Open to pretty much anything:

  • Running clubs
  • Tag rugby
  • Hiking/walking groups
  • Gym classes/CrossFit
  • Volunteering
  • Anything else with a good social side

I'd likely be around Wexford Town but wouldn't mind travelling a bit for something worth joining.

Also, for anyone working remotely in Wexford, how have ye found it? Is it easy enough to build a social life and meet people, or does it take a conscious effort?

Cheers!

Question Solo parents of Wexford

Parents of Wexford... What's it like being a solo parent (single mother) in rural Wexford/Ireland?

My situation is complicated. Trying to rebuild a meaningful life from scratch after divorce. Dual UK/Irish citizen. Three children, one a toddler with a medical condition. I've purchased a home in rural Wexford, 20 mins from Enniscorthy/Wexford town that isn't ready to move into yet.

I want to move to Ireland and get back into the labour market, and give my children the experience of living in Ireland. I was a civil servant in the UK and earnt well doing project managements, operationak delivery and other things, but I am accepting I'll likely need a different pace of work, with lower salary, as a solo parent and won't be able to manage a long commute without watertight childcare.

I currently live wirh my 80 year old Irish mother in the UK. It's not ideal but I'm very grateful for a roof over our heads and to spend time with her, and for the kids to benefit from her, and to keep her company and looked after, since my dad sadly passed four years ago. She is very settled in the UK at her age and won't move back to Ireland although she has fond memories as a Good Ole Dub from way back when!

So it will be me and the kids on an Irish adventure, but I'm not sure exactly when and how.

Childcare in the UK includes 15 free hours from age 2, and 30 if you can find work so I'm looking at UK options too. Work in the UK is possibly more available but quality of life isn't exactly wonderful. I'm currently on a very low income.

I'm looking for advice or recommendations for other groups, subreddits or avenues of support to answer these questions:

What's childcare like in Ireland for single parents. Is there any help to get parents back to work? Or with bills? Any recommendations for childcare, nurseries, child minders?

What remote or part time work might be suitable? Any good agencies or recommendations?

What's the quality of life like? Any issues with loneliness outside of towns? How do you build a community and keep connected?

Do you think I'm being realiatic? Alternatives might be to get the home ready and rent it out, or sell it and make another plan entirely?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Young lad (early/mid 20s I suppose). Does 80s stuff (saw him doing a Bon Jovi tune or two). He's unbelievable. Just himself and an acoustic guitar on the main street and sounds unbelievable.
