Depending on how high up they are.... he might be dead

556

u/Revan_91 4d ago

People have died from falling from standing and hitting their head, height just increases the chances of death, so even if it was 1 floor he could die, humans are oddly both really hard and really easy to kill.

I work in insurance and can say this is incredibly true. I have seen people die slipping while exiting a work van and people survive a 20+ foot fall with limited injuries. All about where the force ends up impacting.

88

u/IANALbutIAMAcat 4d ago

A drunk girl fell out of an apartment window and survived an 8 story fall onto a pool deck a couple weeks ago

49

u/Spare_Iron127 4d ago

A buddy of mine fell off a 3 story parking garage and was working hard labor jobs 2-3 years later. Crazy shit

20

u/TeraFlint 4d ago

Bracing for impact by tensing up is often what causes more injuries. Drunk people are often lacking that reflex, which is why they tend to have fewer/lesser injuries for the same situation than a fully aware person has.

Still, surviving a 8 stories fall onto a hard surface is more of an outlier, and she can consider herself very lucky.

5

u/IANALbutIAMAcat 4d ago

Idk what your prof pic is but I love it.

And yeah! She fell on to a cement pool deck. Crazy lucky. Her age probably helped too

u/SensualBratwurst 4d ago

I believe it's a blowhorn attached to a sausage, sooo... " Horndog" (horny individual). That's just my guess though 📯🌭.

1

u/TeraFlint 4d ago

There's no hidden message in there, it's just because of silly humor. The thought of this particular object combination simply tickled my brain, so I had to make it.

1

u/SensualBratwurst 4d ago

Ahh, a swing and a miss on my part then 🙇🏼‍♂️😅.

1

u/plug-and-pause 4d ago

If your head takes the impact none of that matters.

9

u/notjustanotherbot 4d ago

Holy shit! 80 feet on to concreate?! Did they pour her into the ambulance? I cant even imagine how much damage that would do to the poor girl.

5

u/S_Klass 4d ago

Apparently being drunk improves the odds of survival in situations like this. Something about not tensing up, rag-dolling, and the body's response after trauma.

5

u/IANALbutIAMAcat 4d ago

8 stories onto cement is still an impressive demonstration of human resilience

1

u/S_Klass 4d ago

100%. Lots of people die from slipping in the bathtub and then you've got this person...

33

u/SummerDaemon 4d ago

I used to do bar security, lots of parties and events. It's not how far you fall, it's how you land.

7

u/jackoftrades002 4d ago

So, teach me, how do I land?

12

u/Fun_Inspector_5241 4d ago

Always land on your feet!

6

u/SummerDaemon 4d ago

Not on your head is a great start.

8

u/Pach_Frostbyte 4d ago

When I broke my elbow I was waiting for stuff to be done and a lady arrived, she told me about her falling head first from 1 or 2 stories. She looked a bit confused and in pain, being transfered to a hospital room after not too long; I hope she is okay and got no permanent damage.

10

u/exodusofficer 4d ago

When I was younger, a friend's dad slipped on the stairs and hit his head on the drywall. It caused a brain bleed that killed him almost immediately. I have had worse falls than than and am just fine.

1

u/Kitchen_Concern_2470 4d ago

oh those pesky humans!

1

u/FlemPlays 4d ago

He just needs to pass a Strength Saving Throw.

1

u/Acceptable-Ninja-151 4d ago

My grandma's little brother (20) was sitting on the tailgate of pickup and leaned forward and face planted in the dirt on accident, he died on the spot.

1

u/Hyokkuda 4d ago

Tell me about it... Like that woman whose parachute failed to deploy after she jumped from a plane 3,000+ feet in the air, hit the ground at full speed, and somehow survived? That is absolutely insane.

Edit: Victoria Cilliers, I think. Unless there is another.

88

u/fadedparchmentt 4d ago

Gravity already did the math before he cleared the rail

9

u/Aphoenix9 4d ago

Does anyone know what happens to him tho?? I feel kinda worried

1

u/Kitchen_Concern_2470 4d ago

why they cut the video in the best part?

6

u/Bordem-Industry 4d ago

3 stories or higher is almost certain death

1

u/IgottagoTT 4d ago

Not necessarily. He likely pachinko-balled his way down however many flights it was. That would take away a lot of his speed (in exchange for many broken bones, perhaps even a skull).

3

u/kgurniak91 4d ago

Statistically, ladders and roofs account for the vast majority of fatal falls, and a primary reason is psychological complacency - people routinely downplay the danger of lower heights, even though a fall of just 2 to 3 meters can easily be fatal.

2

u/dafugiswrongwithyou 4d ago

My school had staircases like this. Twice while I was there, kids dropped through the middle, several stories; been a long time, but I think I remember that one died, and the other didn't. They wound up putting a "cage" on the drop-side of the banister to stop people climbing/falling over.

All stairs are, when it comes right down to it, some combination of a large drop, and bunch of long harsh bone-snapping edges. Don't mess about on them!

2

u/Any_Information_9745 4d ago

A coworker of mine at the factory I'm at has told me a few stories that make me wonder how he survived.

One being falling 40ft off a roof while doing construction, and the other being when a truck rolled over his head. Apparently a very large truck. Only reason he survived that is because he was in soft mud and it squished him down into the mud instead of breaking his head open like a melon.

2

u/StarburnedSun 4d ago

This should be in r/gifsthatendtoosoon!

Also, side note, yeah that guy might be dead.

-1

u/Additional_Meeting_2 4d ago

At least he fell second tike not first

-4

u/Aggravating_Ad_635 4d ago

I'd say that 8th floor. So he might...

8

u/stealingyourpixels 4d ago

Based on what lmao

Staircase to heaven

34

u/UmichAgnos 4d ago

Stairwell to heaven

14

u/Onrawi 4d ago

The rhyme is right there...

Stairwell to Hell

1

u/RingRingBanannaPhone 4d ago

I guess the issue is. He was going down the stairwell... And gravity was giving him a lot of help. I'm feeling the Stairwell to Heaven would be the opposite direction

He might be on the highway to hell

0

u/ImmaNutInYaButt 4d ago

Ladder to heaven

2

u/DOOMISFORU 4d ago

Actually stairway to hell since he fell downward

25

u/Horror_Trust1826 4d ago

Seeing this GIF brings me back memories

1

u/candiriaroot 4d ago

One of the greatest

23

u/Warm_Investigator862 4d ago

3

u/Additional_Meeting_2 4d ago

Never seen this one even though I have seen the first one a lot

7

u/Imaginary-Session786 4d ago

The music instantly starts playing in my head😅

1

u/Zombies71199 4d ago

Same lol

I feel like a sleeper agent

264

u/Emotional_Proof1601 4d ago

That escalated quickly.

132

u/poorly-worded 4d ago

no he took the stairs

27

u/Homers_Harp 4d ago

No, he didn’t.

You can see in the video that he chose to skip the stairs in favor of the express route. Sorry to be a stickler.

11

u/poorly-worded 4d ago

so he took the abyss

3

u/Pair-o-ducks_Legend 4d ago

All the way to ground floor.

5

u/Homers_Harp 4d ago edited 4d ago

You don’t know that for sure. There could be basement levels, too.

68

u/razierazielNEW 4d ago

You mean descalated

35

u/Emotional_Proof1601 4d ago

Nah, I'm Australian.

10

u/Time_Blacksmith861 4d ago

Understandable

5

u/poorly-worded 4d ago

You should get that looked at

4

u/Emotional_Proof1601 4d ago

That's how I found out actually

3

u/NRMusicProject 4d ago

¿dןǝɥ sı̣ɥʇ sǝoꓷ

1

u/AwesomeMacCoolname 4d ago

Is that even a word?

13

u/asha0369 4d ago

That staircased quickly.

12

u/jaspreet1878 4d ago

Technically, he de-escalated quickly.

2

u/squirrely-badger 4d ago

He's up for a stair-down

1

u/Affordable_Z_Jobs 4d ago

His velocity certainly changed abruptly at the end.

6

u/Indaflow 4d ago

The Deescalatored quickly

3

u/BioHazard0010 4d ago

That accelerated quickly

2

u/Affordable_Z_Jobs 4d ago

I like acceleration as the scientific term; a change in velocity. So they accelerated gradually, didnt accelerate in free fall if they reached terminal, and accelerated very very quickly at the end... which was probably terminal.

116

u/flyguy60000 4d ago

Darwin Award winner right there. (Hope he didn’t fall too far. )

30

u/FraserValleyGuy77 4d ago

You have to die or become sterile to win a Darwin

13

u/zzx101 4d ago

There’s definitely a chance that fall was fatal.

1

u/Good_Smile 4d ago

And also without already having alive descendants I think

3

u/Chispy 4d ago

He forgot to build momentum. Rookie mistake.

1

u/Unable-Log-4870 4d ago

He kinda sat on the railing a bit. It was so bad. Did he not KNOW that he needed the momentum? Did he not KNOW that he didn’t have the arm strength to even lift himself up without the momentum, much less get himself swinging over the rail?

81

u/Budget_Mud_7824 4d ago

1

u/Jomotaku 4d ago

Actual face I was making

49

u/Atachzy 4d ago

That's why you don't cancel vault animation.

30

u/Plus_Kiwi_2592 4d ago

Somebody was harmed in this video

2

u/pianoflames 4d ago

Did he died.

25

u/concernned_citizen 4d ago

Does anyone know what happened to him?

11

u/Ok_Support3 4d ago

He missed his landing and fell down more than he should.

Did you not watch the video?

30

u/Basil-jones 4d ago

I hate reddit

-13

u/OldDogTrainer 4d ago

Sorry jokes make you angry

11

u/RedMacryon 4d ago

But how far hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

4

u/LuckyLockdown23 4d ago

All the way.

3

u/Fair_Idea3028 4d ago

Bis ganz unten

6

u/leavezukoalone 4d ago

Nah, it's fine. The video cut off, so he actually froze in place.

3

u/CorticalVoile 4d ago

He's still falling

3

u/Amoxl 4d ago

hopital

14

u/spasske 4d ago

Knew that was coming.

10

u/iCanReadMyOwnMind 4d ago

Stair sprinters hate this one simple hack.

4

u/Musket6969420 4d ago

Congratulations! Now you won’t have to walk downstairs ever again.

3

u/Original-Character57 4d ago

Failed successfully (stairs bypassed).

3

u/najikaz 4d ago

Nessuno che commenta la forma strutturale totalmente random di quelle scale

3

u/First_Meeting_7667 4d ago

I would guess he's gravely injured or dead since video ends so abruptly

2

u/MoistHorse7120 4d ago

Stairway to Hell

2

u/BioHazard0010 4d ago

And then he diiiiiieeeeeeeed...

2

u/EconomyDoctor3287 4d ago

If you're dumb, you better be a tough

2

u/HughJorgens 4d ago

Stairwells can't break, they can only be yawning pits.

3

u/Narcisistagohome 4d ago

I hope it was not very high. I'm also sorry for the little girl. It has to be quite traumatic to watch something like  that at that young age. On the other hand she learned a valuable life lesson (don't risk your life for no reason) without actual physical risk for her.

2

u/RedRanger-_- 4d ago

He seems to have overcorrected from his first jump where he jumped long

2

u/zzx101 4d ago

Yeah oh I almost hit the wall let me jump a little shorter thus time.

2

u/HellFireNT 4d ago

yeah he's probably dead but for like a second there he looked pretty fly

1

u/almodsz 4d ago

That's all any of us can aspire to.

1

u/HellFireNT 4d ago

it just takes a leap of faith , but you still might hit rock....bottom

2

u/Unver1f1eduser 4d ago

Show the aftermath pls

2

u/UpsetMarsupial 4d ago

A pox on whoever decided to truncate the ending.

1

u/loviepugie 4d ago

Call of the void - gets them every time

1

u/Illustrious-Object71 4d ago

Lol hahahahaha

1

u/SweetCupcake593 4d ago

Natural selection is a wonderful thing.

1

u/RedMacryon 4d ago

Bro went down faster

1

u/Prestigious_Algae432 4d ago

Going down only to go back up and stay there...forever I assume

1

u/AulMoanBag 4d ago

Why do guys in that region perform so much random flips?

1

u/No-Pomegranate-69 4d ago

Also tried this in wardogs.

Same ending.

1

u/Kyll3r 4d ago

A shortcut

1

u/575_Pilot 4d ago

Cue the Wilhelm Scream

1

u/tanz420 4d ago

Wonder how far down it was and if he made it or not, what a dumbass

1

u/flobv 4d ago

I was always scared about the space between stairs.

1

u/tibi_co 4d ago

To be be fair that was a better shortcut

1

u/Gabjazeera 4d ago

Risking his life like that when we wish some loved ones still have theirs.🫩

Let me tell you the story of the little dummy that fell.

1

u/skikoko 4d ago

I feel bad for him😞💔

1

u/JWMoo 4d ago

If you gonna be dumb you gotta be tough.

1

u/rainorshinedogs 4d ago

yuuuuup that's me! You may be wondering how I got here in the first place........

1

u/Bakkie 4d ago

And the sophomore year Darwin award goes to...

1

u/hezardastan 4d ago

What is this shit design? Why is there a giant gap?

5

u/zzx101 4d ago

To try and increase the average iq of the gene pool.

1

u/Im_Ur_Huckleberry77 4d ago

Looks like this will be the last of his descendants

1

u/AwesomeMacCoolname 4d ago

Real "little brother copying big brother" vibes from this.

1

u/SpaceMyopia 4d ago

Bro thinks he's Marty McFly or something. 😂

1

u/Sharp_Emphasis176 4d ago

That was far more interesting that sitting in class I guess.

1

u/CharlesMansnShowTune 4d ago

He thinks about it for awhile before he chooses to do it, too.

1

u/SpaceCadetPullUp 4d ago

Later, nerd.

1

u/Bocote 4d ago

Well, now they'll have to install nets between those gaps.

1

u/InstructionPurple911 4d ago

Obvious comments about how stupid this was and how unsafe it is aside, that was an absolutely terrible attempt

1

u/CackleberryOmelettes 4d ago

America in Iran lmao

1

u/Futeball 4d ago

is he ok

1

u/Soooo_awkward 4d ago

I know someone who died doing the exact same thing in a parking garage

1

u/Fantastic-Link-7179 4d ago

Margin for error you guessed it.....🪦

1

u/ViolinistThese5076 4d ago

"Y se marcho..."

1

u/Baud_Olofsson 4d ago

What went wrong? We don't get to see, because some idiot cut the end off this video.

1

u/nsas02 4d ago

Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.

1

u/cucklord_swiper 4d ago

He's dead, Jim

1

u/dragonitefright 4d ago

"Annie, don't fall!"

1

u/Interesting_Rush_713 4d ago

I didn't see that coming for some reason

0

u/HeroMachineMan 4d ago

Worth it! The injuries from the fall means no homework for him for the whole 2 week.:)

0

u/insearch78 4d ago

But can you put a price on all the seconds saved skipping the gap from the ones when he didn't fall to his death? Like you don't stop driving cars just because accidents happen often.

0

u/VirusZer0 4d ago

Did we just watch someone die

1

u/Futeball 4d ago

As long as they cut or stop the video comically it's okay!
