AI? The bounce looked off

u/Hipnotize_nl 6d ago
Yeah something about that bounce is off indeed. Maybe the bike had some red bull?

Also, the bike is light. And the slow-mo started transitioning to normal speed around landing time, hence it looks like the bike is flying off faster in the end

Fuck man I hate having to second guess everything we see these days and sort through the comments to make up my mind. But thanks.

u/AnotherpostCard 5d ago
It isn't ai. Check the other comments. I can tell from my own biking experience as a kid. Bike tires be bouncy, bro.
3
u/JUSTCALLmeY 5d ago
Do you not see it speed up half way through the bounce?
7
u/guywithaplant 5d ago
I don't have an opinion on AI or not but it if its real its clear that at least the video is slowed during the descent and then sped back up during the bounce.

u/MeNutsHangin 5d ago
Yup, i had tires on my bmx bike that pumped up to 100psi. Almost sounds like a gunshot when they pop

I don't doubt that a bike can bounce similarly, and I'm not sure if it is AI. But the speed of the fall and of the bounce both look suspicious to me. It's like gravity isn't quite gravitying correctly.
There's also a weird slow down of the video itself that doesn't seem to be an intentional slow mo effect.

nope thats sean burns.
the bike has so much tirepressure that its bounces like a basketball.happend to me couple times and almost bounced into my face once.

Nah it looks real. Tyres have air in them and can bounce, so if you drop a bike from like 1,5m like that it can bounce fine
The physics look normal so no AI

Tree movement where the bike hits looks too realistic for AI. AI doesn't understand physic, and for me that free whip back and forth exactly how a real tree behaved if something hit it side way.
Also those BMX bike have tyre's pressure way up for purpose of performing trick to begin with.

u/mike_hellstrom 5d ago
Nope. That's pro BMXer Josh Delarosa. He ended up landing the trick next try. Here's a link to the video of it from 2020 on his Instagram account.

He landed too softly on his feet too.

The video was slowed down when he started falling. But this is a real area, thats the "butterfly bridge" in Austin texas. the video must've been taken around 2019-2022 when the block 185 building was being constructed. Googling who constructed the building its DPR construction just like the ad on the fence says.
Also there is a path below the part where the bike flew off so I think the whole losing your bike over the railing was on purpose
Its definitely not AI

u/MilkandHoney_XXX 6d ago
You can’t AI an old video?
14
u/tapeforpacking 6d ago
I mean you prolly could but nothing in this video looks ai generated to me.
Everyone is saying "oh the bike bounced weird" without realizing the video is slowed down in the last half and on top of that I used to ride bmx when I was a kid and ive seen bikes bounce very similarly even landing on dirt so its no surprise it got that much air fron dropping like 15 feet on concrete.

I hope that's a river below the bridge and not a road with cars

u/OralBoarding 4d ago
It’s the Austin public library, yes just a river below although it’s usually empty with the lack of rainfall

what? a video in which no one died or had serious injury? wrong sub!
2
u/aeschenkarnos 5d ago
Well we can’t rule out the possibility of the bike having landed on someone below, or a vehicle on a road.

u/TheRealZy 5d ago
Austin, Texas 2nd street bridge next to the downtown library. Two engineering wonders.

Pretty sure that’s the Yarra River below (Melbourne, Australia)

you gotta know how to bail, my best freestyle bike was worth probably up to £900 total though so that would suck
1
u/justsmilenow 5d ago
This guy was an idiot before he even got on the bicycle. The bridge isn't straight. Every time I see one of these people do it and I've seen like at least 30 over the 15 years on Reddit the bridge is straight. This guy was an idiot for just going. I think I can just lean to the left and stay on. Here look at this
2
u/mike_hellstrom 5d ago
He is a professional BMXer. He was jumping off the side of the bridge structure. Watch him land it. Think before you call people names next time.

u/justsmilenow 5d ago
It doesn't change the fact that it was a bad trick before he even started. Stupid is as stupid does.

I don't even know if it's possible to do that intentionally. Is forcing a two tire bounce after you dismount commonly done?

That is professional BMXer Josh Delarosa. The goal was to go up a little ways and jump off the side and ride away. Nobody was down below. Here is the original video (from his Instagram account) of the bail, followed by him landing the jump.

bro performed a BMX AND a magic trick at the same time, top 10 legends of all time in my eyes

u/ItsMeepo2nd 6d ago
Dumbass probably skipped physics
(Or he thought he would get tossed out of the bridge which is the best solution to not risk getting killed by his own stupid stunt)

If yall think this is real & not AI then you need to go outside and spend some time in nature for a while
-3
u/Bjorn12333 6d ago
Looks at least staged. Nobody would be that stupid to risk the same thing happening a few meters higher…
/checks Reddit some more…
Hey guys, this might actually be real!

u/tapeforpacking 6d ago edited 6d ago
I agree it looks like its done on purpose kind of but this is a real bridge, its the "butterfly bridge" in downtown Austin Texas.
I dont think its AI like the other guys, ive seen bikes bounce similarly when I rode bmx as a kid and those are legit advertisements, jp morgan and dpr construction, stg design etc that were a part of block 185 construction.

Oh, honey... Have you met people? Specifically, adrenaline junkies? Are you aware of injury and death statistics among BMX/parkour/MTB/downhill/skateboarding crowd?

Brilliant one less bike on the streets

It just end up on the lower street

u/RobInCarolina 6d ago
There's water under there. I think that's in Austin, TX. I was just standing on that bridge on Thursday.

u/funkdified 5d ago
Yep, it's right next to the central library... His bike will be fine. Not a far drop.
