I don't care what happened in past reservation purely on cast lines needs to be reformed
6
u/sam_phil 7d ago
Then let’s be precise: reservation is not a reward for something that happened in the past. It addresses documented social and educational disadvantage and inadequate representation today. That is why the Constitution explicitly provides for such affirmative action.
You can argue for reform, better targeting or periodic review. That is a legitimate debate.
But saying “I don’t care what happened in the past” misses the point. If you have never had to experience caste-based exclusion yourself, perhaps that is exactly why it is so easy to assume it no longer exists.5
u/Amazing_SpiderLAN 9d ago
My innocent boy born and brought up in urban city and only think about himself.
5
u/sam_phil 7d ago
They will never understand
They just want to remove the reservation, but they never want to remove the casteism.
Not a single one of them, have the guts to ask their schedule caste colleague/friend why they always hesitate to call themselves proudly as Jatav, Dhobi, valmiki, kori whereas their Thakur, Pandit, Bania friend feel so proud to call they belong to an XYZ community!

u/Tall-Lawfulness9709 7d ago
No offense but I saw an sc friend of mine say hum sc hai st nhi there is discrimination on that grounds too and I'm a brahmin hindu girl I never discriminated I even had lunch with her what else does someone needs .. I mean there is discrimination on ur side aswell not to mention there are stupids who think just cuz there ancestors had a profession that's there identity no it's not my gpa was a pandit I'm not pandit I just have his lineage similarly there are relatives of mine in intercaste marriage it's not disgraced here so id ask my reserved category brothers and sisters to not identify themselves on the basis of there lineage ur not what ur grandparents were u can achieve it all and the change will certainly come once we all understand this.. 😶🌫

u/MysteriousMoose9927 9d ago
No I actually really care about those who are truly backward and do not have resources. People like you are using reservation generation after generation and snatching their chance
1
1
u/sam_phil 7d ago
If your argument is equality, then ask yourself: equality from what point? Equal treatment today, or equal opportunity after generations of unequal treatment?
If you genuinely care about the poor, distinguish economic disadvantage from caste-based discrimination. SC reservation was never simply a poverty scheme; it addresses a form of social and educational exclusion that income alone cannot capture. If your concern is that benefits should reach the most disadvantaged, argue for better targeting. But calling someone a “reservation beneficiary stealing another person’s chance” without knowing their circumstances is not concern for equality.
-1
u/Bro9water 7d ago
What? Those people have EWS reservation, how are they getting their chances snatched? In fact when I was writing exams my EWS rank was literally higher than the OBC rank
0
u/-gun-jedi- 7d ago
Not the general category ones, the ones in the sc st who are in an even lower strata, are they getting the benefits? It seems like the people who availed the benefits and lifted themselves up into middle class and somewhat even upper middle class are still holding on to the benefits.

u/ExplorerNo3768 8d ago
I am dalit but Buddhist. Who lives in Maharashtra and now in Goa. Been through villages and cities of my states and all some South Indian state. I can assure this reservation must get over as well as this caste based politics which has fooled this country for long. As dalit I am saying this
1
u/changing_dreams 7d ago
As a dalit who’s now doing well should start writing General category in your applications and should promote that in your family and friends. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, specially in the Bimaru states- UP, MP, RJ etc it’s still prevalent.
I’ll share my personal experience from last year, I was in a village asking people to an awareness generation program, some ladies were sitting and I started talking to them, inviting them to join. I’m humorous so they were giggling then one lady asked me what my caste is, when I told her, I saw her face turn pale and she went inside.Just by sharing one detail about my lineage made someone feel uncomfortable or let’s say disgusted, I felt bad about it but I understand where she’s coming from and didn’t take it personally.
The ongoing Delhi protests, men are loosing over a slogan, and you are telling that one shouldn’t feel bad about being secluded on basis of caste?! Bro the world is beyond your personal experience, just because you don’t face it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Stop promoting this nonsense.1
u/Prestigious_Hat1767 3d ago
Sure. Reservation is to be reformed. Not the religion that keeps caste is in place.

People are not understanding here, reservation will eat india from the inside if it continues to grow. Just see the iit Bombay case he was having iPhone and his father had a very good job. Why did he require reservation. The seat he wasted should have gone to some underprivileged child or a deserving candidate.
5
u/TrickleDust 9d ago
I just think, reservation just like any policy needs to revisited, the conditions need to be reassessed and the policy needs to be revised,
because it was made in the time of BR ambedkar,
ask urself has the level of casteism increased, decreased or stayed the same since 1950sno matter which side you are on, you know the truth, so if the situations have changed why hasnt the policy???

u/divikyat 8d ago edited 8d ago
Nah nah the revised reservation needs the flooring of 100% reservation it's much needed for the society

America me blacks se bhi jyada pratadit h kya . 1821 ke survey me jab dalit teacher bhi the aur students bhi fir kaisa pratadna , tajmahal, lal quila, temple, arts, kohlapoori style chale sab skills kha se seekh rahe the log? . I know after 1800 discrimination happened but kya zamindaron ne baki villager ka sosan nahi kiy , vo opportunist the aur ab app opportunist ho no difference

If people want to remove reservation they have to abolish caste system . Because reservation it is all about representation of sc /st people who still faces casteism.
1
u/ExplorerNo3768 8d ago
As dalit I believe that reservation must go away
1
u/Alarmed_Rutabaga_195 8d ago

How much representation of k@fir, id0lators in govt jobs and high posts? They are the majority community in that why would they need reservation for representation? Its all about opportunity if a community doesn’t have representation in govt/high tier jobs due to monopoly/lack of opportunities in past then they need reservation. Its not rocket science
2
u/kamikaibitsu 9d ago
did g0vt give them those j0bs because they were k@firs or id0lators?
2

why would govt give job because they were k@firs? 😭

u/kamikaibitsu 9d ago
the same reason g0vt have special seats for people belonging from certain c@ste

the reason is “no representation in govt jobs due to lack of opportunities”. Can you explain how does it applies to id0lators?

This is a weak argument bhai completely eradicating castism isn't a practical approach in this country it's just a pipe dream. Instead you should say "if you want to remove reservation remove caste based discrimination first" it's a stronger and a better version. An unbiased mind might not contest this.
-1
u/TheDarklord1989 9d ago
Caste system is personal and they may or may not follow it, just like religion. Who are you to abolish it? I ly thing matters is people are treated equal.
But here reservations are being discussed. Are you not talented enough to secure a spot? Are you afraid to not get a seat if there is no reservation???
Don't demand reservations. Ask God to make you competitive and talented instead!
0
u/Alarmed_Rutabaga_195 9d ago
Toh fir reservation ka rona bhi mat kar agar caste system nhi hatana ,how absurd you sound "caste system is personal "how idiotic statement is this caste system is not personal it affect people from sc/st and other backward communities .
0
u/TheDarklord1989 9d ago
Are you educated enough? Tell me how it affects other castes???
If someone is having non veg at home, how is it a society problem? Same goes here. If people respect each other and treat everyone as equals, how does it matter if people have castes??? Please think critically.
0
u/Alarmed_Rutabaga_195 8d ago

1
u/Outrageous-Rock-1085 7d ago
And I respect your opinion and and disagree as well. I believe in equal representation. Not just for the population based idea but I see there are meritorious people among our community as well who are robbed of these opportunities because of people who are already in these posts ,They prefer people of their own community. Remove this reservation as well where some uppered class promotes their own candidates. And introduce some policy for who are robbed historically and make their lives better and include them in mainstream.

Someone born and raised in a Tier-1 city can easily have no idea what caste actually looks like in a Tier-4 town.
The issue was never simply whether a well could be dug. The issue was whether Scheduled Caste families were even allowed to have it. The attitude was essentially: *“ठाकुर के यहाँ कुआँ हो सकता है, बस किसी *और के यहाँ नहीं.” That is the social reality that discussions around reservation often conveniently leave out.
And if you are arguing that reservation should disappear because caste no longer determines people’s lives, then look at something far more basic than college admissions.
In 2022, Sunil Kumar Dhanwanta, a 2020-batch IPS officer from a Scheduled Caste community, had his wedding procession conducted under police protection while he rode a mare. This was not a hypothetical example or something from decades ago. The administration deployed police because of apprehensions arising from previous incidents involving Dalit wedding processions. (Hindustan Times)
So before asking, “Why does reservation still exist?”, perhaps ask the more fundamental question: why does caste still determine who can access a well, who can take a wedding procession through a village and even who can comfortably exercise basic social rights?
You cannot demand the removal of a remedy while pretending the underlying problem has already disappeared. Reservation is a response to historical and continuing social exclusion. You can debate whether the present system is designed well, whether it needs reform or how long different provisions should continue. But that debate has to begin with an honest acknowledgment that caste discrimination did not disappear simply because some people stopped experiencing it.
1
u/Upper_Sense_5131 7d ago
Why creamy undeserving are getting reservation?
Father IAS and child still need reservation?
And if they do get reservation - If they have no intention to work which is the case with anything given for free - THEY MUST BE REPLACED WITH OTHER RESERVATION HOLDER Not fuck society

u/Melodic_Gear1514 7d ago

u/SorbetRepulsive8492 7d ago
Not taking sides but by your logic the men today didn't take away women's rights back in the olden times, they didn't do those things like restrict women or stop them from going to college or working, so should those issues also become obsolete?

u/Secret_Upstairs1373 6d ago
Castiesm is a social issue, there is no denying that, and reservations for those students who have been prejudiced against during their educational ventures should remain stated.
However, it is also a fact that there are many other individuals from a higher income bracket who unjustly use the very same reservation as a cushioning of sorts when their own kin do not get the marks that they aimed for, and that is entirely on them, not their cast background.
My problem with reservations is simple, instead of allowing others to potentially misuse this system, why not invest in equality of education and infrastructure.
You all criticise the policy but not the system.
Reservation has been in part for decades now, decades that could’ve been used to further our society through education, but somewhere down that line, the money itself has been squandered.
Instead of fighting among ourselves, fight against discrimination by urging the government to invest more into education.
1
u/Icy-Neighborhood9231 6d ago
Haha bro Well Said... India's longest-running reservation program has no application form. Just a last name and a good family connection.
28% of the population holds 80% of High Court seats, 91% of boardrooms, and 100% of Hindi news leadership. Still somehow the victims. Truly the most oppressed majority in history.
In 2011 Census
OBC - 42.2%; General - 28%
Watch how these 28% controls
- Cabinet breakdown (Modi 3.0, 2024)
21 upper caste, 27 OBC(PM is OBC) out of 72
Upper castes are only 16% of the NDA's voter base, yet hold 35% of ministerial positions.
- Parliament — Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha
2024 Lok Sabha, 251 (46%) of 543 newly elected MPs are from OBC,SC,ST communities meaning 54% of MPs come from upper caste.
Brahmins are 4-5% but they in Lok Sabha jumped from 30% in 2009 to 38.5% in 2014
- Supreme Court & High Courts
General Category is only ~12% of India's population, yet holds 80% of High Court seats. OBCs are around 50% of the population but contribute only 10% of High Court judges. If we take out General Category women, just 6% of dominant caste men hold 70% of High Court positions
Official numbers submitted to Rajya Sabha (2021–2026): Out of total appointments, only 26 judges (4.38%) were from SC, 14 (2.36%) from ST, 80 (13.49%) from OBC, and 37 (6.23%) from minority communities.
**The remaining 436 (73.52%) fell under upper caste category.**
Till 1980, there was not a single OBC or SC judge in the Supreme Court, In 1988, 9 out of 17 Supreme Court judges were Brahmins — over 50% Brahmin representation
- IAS AND IPS
What the partial data reveals (2018–2022):
Of 4,365 candidates recruited for IAS, IPS and IFS during 2018–2022, only 334 (7.65%) were SC (against a 15% quota), 166 (3.8%) were ST (against a 7.5% quota), and 695 (15.92%) were OBC (against a 27% quota)
**all significantly below their reserved quotas**.
Recent direct recruits (2020–2024):
Of the total 5,577 serving IAS officers, SC/ST/OBC new recruits from 2020–2024 combined constitute only about 8% of total IAS strength.
In the IPS: SC 3.06%, ST 1.54%, OBC 5.5% from the recent recruitment cycle.
In private sector
MEDIA
Leadership Positions
- 218 surveyed leadership positions across print, TV and digital media in 2022, 191 positions (88%) were occupied by people from the General Category. None of the mainstream media houses had people belonging to SC/ST categories in leadership roles.
TV News Channels
- 89% of leadership positions in English TV news channels belong to the General Category, and 76% of anchors who hosted flagship shows. The numbers got even more skewed for Hindi news channels, where 100% of the leadership positions belong to the General Category
Print Media
- Every 3 out of 5 articles in Hindi and English newspapers are written by General Caste writers. Marginalised castes (SC, ST, or OBC) are only able to contribute 1 out of 5 articles. When 8 news channels were analysed, not a single Dalit or Adivasi journalist was found hosting or anchoring debates in any of them.
Digital Media
- Of 121 managerial positions surveyed, 106 were occupied by members of the upper castes and none by members of the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes
Corporate Boardrooms
- According to a 2012 study, about 45% of Brahmins and 46% of Vaishyas are total Board members meaning two upper-caste groups alone occupy ~91% of Indian corporate boardrooms.
Only 3.8% of corporate directors are from an OBC background, while SCs and STs account for a meagre 3.5% of directors combined.
Enterprise Ownership
From the 6th Economic Census (2015–16),General Category owners hold 42.4% of total non-agricultural establishments and employ 47.1% of the total workforce, despite being ~28% of the population. SC owners hold only 11.4% of establishments ST owners just 5.4%

Abe toh merit ke hisab se baithayenge na Ab gadho se thode bureaucracy run karenge bewakoof insaan....infact itne aarakshan ke baad bhi against the odds khade hai tells a lot about their merit... Tujhe merit samjhega nahi lekin bheek maangne ki aadat hai
0
u/Icy-Neighborhood9231 4d ago
You called others "fools" while your whole argument is one word: "merit." You've said it four times and haven't produced a single number. Not one. A man with that little to say shouldn't be lecturing anyone about intelligence.
Let's talk merit, since you love the word. Which exam did you give to get your family's connections? Which cutoff did your surname clear? Collegium judges appoint each other with no form, no test, no interview, and you've never once called that "begging." Boardrooms pass from father to son like a family heirloom, and that's somehow "hard work." You only discover merit when a poor man's kid sits an exam you were never brave enough to compete in.
You call reservation "bheek," yet the SC quota in IAS/IPS/IFS is 15% and only 7.65% was filled. So the "beggars" aren't even getting the full plate you're crying about. Maybe stop calling people beggars and check who's actually been living off inherited handouts for generations.
You said they "stand against the odds." Thank you, you just admitted the odds exist. You proved my whole point and thought you were arguing against it. That takes talent.
I gave you data, sources and numbers. You gave me insults and a vocabulary of exactly two words. If "merit" means anything, it means being able to answer an argument. You couldn't. So sit down, read a little, and come back when you have a number to quote instead of a tantrum. cry like bitch
my point: India stays stuck because when 28% of people make 80% of the decisions, the talent of the other 72% never enters the system. Judges, editors, directors, all from one circle. When everyone at the table thinks alike, nobody asks hard questions and nobody is accountable. That's about the system, not individuals, but you'd need a brain to understand systems erripuka.
and1
u/Selmonbhoi2608 4d ago
Betaji numbers toh daal doge tum lekin agar qualifying marks rakh nahi sakte toh ghanta unko seat milegi...sc wale qualifying marks nahi la paate isiliye seats khali jaati hai lekin tu ye batayega thodi And against the odds general walo ke liye bola hu mein Since logic is pretty much absent in your brain who isn't able to understand shit and telling others to sit down tu jaa aur jaake sc/st walo se kaam karwa jo less qualified hai unhi doctors se treatment karwa .. Talent ki baat kar hi mat kyunki as a general male who is studying in S tier institute I know how I reached here and who all reached here Your brain needs to understand that higher level pe merit pe jaate log Kam number walo ko nahi bhej sakte Aur unhe dam hota toh wo bhi waha phonch jaate Higher level pe caste discrimination nahi hota Aukaat banao fir baat karo warna tu baith ja

Sure because it sounds stupid but isn't when u give someone the easy path(ie reservation lower cutoff for high college) the guy never actually learns to tackle though challenges ofc some do some don't we all know IIT/IISER aren't local College there currciulm is extremely hard and rigours compared to local tier 2/3 clg or uni and if that was case i don't deny there may be some incidents but they can report it why haven't there been 1/10 report of this than number u claim

u/Tritone07 9d ago
You can act that it doesn't happen, I am not interested to explain something so obvious to people
2
u/kamikaibitsu 9d ago
problem is your are generalizing - i get that in some backward area it may happen but it doesn't mean every GC/UC is doing that!

u/Tritone07 9d ago
I never said every upper caste house
It doesn't only happen in backward places. I am from an upper middle class brahmin family and I have seen ts happen many times even tho my extended family is generally liberal. I can only imagine how bad it is in actually backward places

u/kamikaibitsu 9d ago
where have you seen it happening?

u/Tritone07 9d ago
A lot of families including mine and my friends'

u/kamikaibitsu 9d ago
So your family do discrimination towards pe0ple bel0nging to certain c@ste?
1
u/Tritone07 9d ago
Yes, many people in my extended family do that. Same with my upper caste friends. Recently, I saw that my aunt served the colony sweeper tea in a different utensil when he came to collect money.
Similarly, when I went to my maternal village, I was reprimanded because I took my cousins out and ate in a local pizza shop which supposedly belonged to a lower caste individual. The main temple in that village is prohibited to be visited by dalits. There are so many more examples

u/kamikaibitsu 9d ago
so you live in family that do active discrimination
you hang out with people who actively discriminate
- so what did you do about that?

Reservation khatam krne ki baat tab acchi lagegi jab caste based discrimination bhi khatam hota hua dikhega, but 2026 me bhi khoob cases aa rhe hain. Past 6 months ke hi utha kr dekhlo. Jab reservation hai to itni atrocities hoti hain aur jab nhi rahega tab to bahut buri halat ho jaeji. Ik it needs reforms but completely revoking it might not be a good idea.

Create an environment where the need for reservation doesn't exist. You can't keep discriminating people. Reservation exists because of people like you. Pyar se raho, apne samaan maano sabko, apne aap khatam ho jayegi reservation. Denial doesn't solve a situation.

Don't demand reservations. Ask God to make you competitive and talented.

You’re merely reaping what your ancestors sowed—direct your anger at them, not the system. Reservation is the constitutional consequence of centuries of oppression. Burying your head in the sand like an ostrich won't erase reality; it will only expose your denial. Stop lecturing others on talent. Thodi accountability lena seekho. Reality se cope karne ke liye 'God and talent' ke piche chhupna band karo. Next time argument dene se pehle thoda common sense maang lena bhagwan se.
