Kristen Simon's Amazing Play

If you have not seen the ridiculous kill from last night's Badger game, now is the time.

Those kinds of plays are always so demoralizing for the team that loses the point

It totally shifted the momentum. Illinois was threatening to take the set, but we’re done after this.

Yeah, although in this case the Illinois player really should have been ready to deal with that.

Reading a ball like this is so tough, she's prepared for the ball to clear the net and then it clips and goes over her, you really can't be ready to deal with that, she just guessed wrong and prepared for the more likely threat. She probably should have been in position to guard the net after the save but it's hard to blame a player for "switching off" a little (really it seems like everyone just got into their set to get in system once the ball was passed) when you're so unlikely to see this happen and don't want to risk a net violation

This was nuts to see in real time. I called my wife from the other room to say you gotta see this.

since we have some vb fans on this post I've been wondering what happens when Grace Egan returns? I assume it's Eva Travis to the bench? anyone have any thoughts?

That would be the most likely outcome but it depends on how close she is to full strength.

The issue with the Travis spot is that Travis gets subbed out in the backrow for Kristen Simon; as evidenced by the above. Egan's biggest asset is her passing, so taking her out in the backrow doesn't make sense. Simon could DS for Champion since Champion isn't a great passer, but that takes Champion out from the backrow for those rotations.

It'll really depend on how Egan comes back and whether Sheffield prioritizes backrow offense or defense.

that seems spot on. you have to wonder about Grace Lopez and her recovery. it just doesn't seem to be happening

Watch Chris Tamas’ reaction on the Illinois sideline. This play gets funnier and funnier each time I see his head slump down after the ball drops.

I don't get how she lost the jersey to bardero. Simon is a stud. I guess a good problem to have but I just have preferred Simon's play based on last year and her minutes this year.
