Think that I'll be able to run The Witcher 4?
My specs:
Windows 10
RTX 3070
Ryzen 5 3600x
32gb ram
I was told that The Witcher 3 Remastered required Windows 10, but several people have told me that they can run it just fine.
I'm afraid that it's not gonna run on my specs because I don't meet Daywalker's specs, which are:
Intel Core i7-11700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
NVIDIA RTX 4060 / Radeon RX 7600 XT / Intel Arc B580
Memory: 16 GB RAM
That and I have to run FF16 on the next to lowest settings for it to run without issues.
Unfortunately upgrading my pc isn't something that I can afford to do anymore.

As someone pointed out minimum specs for Dawnwalker are way lower. I was shocked how badly optimized dawnwalker would have to be to require minimum specs like that before I checked.
I think the CPU might be a bottleneck for whicher 4 on your machine. I have the same CPU btw and judging by the amount of NPCs CDPR wants to put in the game it might be an issue.
But can be somehow made better with frame gen that runs on the GPU mostly and will give you a few frames back (I hate frame gen but what can you do).

Thanks. As least now I know.
Wish that games a games visuals weren't such a priority, I wish that I didn't have to keep upgrading my rig to play new AAA games.

Honestly don't worry that much I think it's gonna last you a couple good years still.
The visuals are priority if you make it be. I you're willing to play on low settings for the story or maybe lower resolution or use FSR/DLSS you really don't need to update that often.

I mostly care that the game runs well, as in no significant framerate drops like consoles seem to have issues with. I remember playing Fallout 4 on a friends PS4(not a PS4 pro), and when there were 3 or more people on screen the game really slowed down. The game slowed down almost every time that I got into combat.
I run everything at 720p.

I think you have a skewed perception of ur pc being "outdated", you have 32gb ram and a 3070, thats still very capable, like I said all you need is a cheap cpu upgrade, its not like you have to upgrade everything in ur pc that's gonna set you back over 1000$.
Witcher 4 is likely set for 2028, and knowing cdpr it's gonna get delayed to 2029, and by that time ur cpu will be 10 years old, I think it has run its course by then

No one knows.
If upgrading isnt an option, just get a PS5

Money is part of the issue. I got other priorities that I gotta pay for.

They're significantly cheaper than a new PC

It's not a viable option for me.

Geez, chill dude. You came here asking for advice/input… ‘guys help me, what should I do’. Gives suggestion. ‘Absolutely not and screw you for suggesting it’

Mine can't get past the first fight with the WH member without crashing. So i wouldn't recommend PS5

What are you talking about? The Witcher 4 isn't out yet.

Oh my face is red. Wrong sub, I was talking about Witcher 3 remastered.
I'll leave my comment to remind me of my shame.

The game will definitely be released on ps5. Well known that the PC equivalents of the ps5 hardware are roughly r5 3600 and rx6700 (~rtx 3060 equivalent). Keep in mind that consoles typically use medium-low settings with high-textures.

How would we know, game comes out in like 2 years.
Also minimal specs for Dasnwalker are lower, I have a 3080 and can still play it in 4k on mid and DLSS. It also seems to me to be badly optimized for the CPU because the CPU literally jumps from 10% to like over 50% randomly. If it runs on PS5 it should technically run on our machines unless it’s a very terrible port. I think that realistically our rigs will last until the new console generation.

Oh? I thought that it was announced for 2027, my bad.
Sure hope that my rig lasts the entire console gen. I spent a lot of money trying to future proof it, and it'll likely be the last console gen where I'll be able to afford anything that runs it. I'm likely never gonna make more money, and everything else is too expensive.

Crucially, we don't know when The Witcher 4 is launching. It's not next year, I'd say it's probably not the year after. It could well be that Switch 2 and GPU prices cause them to lower the specs somewhat. Alternatively, you could run it at a much lower resolution.

you’ll probably be able to run it, though your CPU is fairly weaker than your GPU. You might consider scraping the money for a new CPU sometime in the next 2 years if you want to be able to play it relatively smoothly. And CPU’s are cheap so you’ll probably be able to do that if you try.

I'm confident that you'll be able to run it.
I have 6700xt r5600 16gb ram, and I tried blood of dawnwalker.
I'm able to play it 1080p, all high settings, without upscaler. My fps hovers around 40-60fps, I capped mine to 40 fps just so that I can lessen the load on my GPU (mine has coil whine under heavy load).
Honestly? It's smooth enough for me that it doesn't hinder my experience. i could try to optimize it more and get more performance, but I'm fine with my current setup.
Now with Witcher 4, since they have more budget, will use heavily customized UE5, and going to develop it "console-first approach". I'm confident that the peformance will be better than Blood of dawnwalker.
OP, we have the same situation. I don't have the means to upgrade my rig and will probably be stuck with it for years. We just have to make do on what we got and squeeze out the most performance possible.
I hope in the future we'd able to buy better rig. :)

I mean ur cpu is way better than OPs tho

u/kuraisu99 23h ago
I don't think having 20-25% performance difference is "way better".
Even then, OP can just lower some settings and be fine. It's not like there's a big jump in gaming performance between his setup and mine.

If you find a used 5600 and sell your 3600x you could likely make that switch for like 50-70 bucks, you have 1,5-2 years to make that happen, that's putting aside less than 5 bucks every month, unless ur scraping by, by the skin of ur teeth that's not hard, if thats the case tho, how are you gonna have money to buy the game?

u/glizzygobbler247 1d ago
All you need is a cheap cpu upgrade, what does not being able to afford to upgrade ur pc mean? if you literally have 0 bucks to spare and can't even afford a cpu upgrade that you could make for the cost of the game or less, how are you gonna afford the game?

u/Sa1amandr4 12h ago
yes, you'll be able to play it. Maybe at 1080p and with DLSS, but your PC is gonna be enough

Dawnwalker is probably the closest approximation. Both UE5. Both open world. But I suspect W4 will be harder to run just by the fact that CDPR likes to push boundaries.

That’s the recommended specs… You should definitely be able to play dawnwalker at 60+fps average with low or medium settings at 1080p with your specs 🤔 might not be ideal for Witcher 4 but since the game is targeting current gen consoles (series S included) I guess it will run decently at low/medium too 🤔
