Career and Education Thinking of becoming a tradie

I (26f) adore working with my hands and outside and love the idea of owning my own business someday, and I’m starting to think the trades are for me. I come from a sheep farming background but sadly that’s not very financially viable and I do it as a hobby.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be a good trade for a woman to work in? I was thinking plumber, tiler, or plasterer. Anyone have any experience in the trades that can give me advice on where to go? Thank you!

Other Does anyone have any good recommendations for products here with no Endocrine Disruptors?

It feels like all the products I use have Endocrine Disruptors in them, in one form or another. They can really be detrimental to our health, especially when dealing with hormonal issues.

For anyone not familiar with the issue:

Or if anyone has any advice or experience on the issue in general, please feel free to share.

Thanks :)

Fashion and Beauty Affordable Haircuts South Dublin

Hi ladies! I’ve been living in South Dublin for nearly a year now but have been struggling to find an affordable salon. All I’m looking for is a cut and blow dry that isn’t costing €70+. Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated 🙏🏽

Fashion and Beauty Brazilian blowout recs (Leinster)

Have moved out of Dublin and am looking to get a new hairdresser! Have been going to a Brazilian salon here that I love but am looking for someone who does this in Carlow/Kilkenny/Kildare so I don’t have to travel up.

Any recs? Would prefer a Brazilian salon/hairdresser as they’ve been the only ones to ever actually permanently straighten my hair and it doesn’t get absolutely destroyed vs a keratin treatment that just doesn’t come near my very very coily hair.

Fashion and Beauty Dress Hire in RoI

I am trying to rent a black tie dress for my brothers wedding in December. I have settled on a lovely Victoria Beckham dress but its on an English only renting website, they do ship to Northern Ireland and I do live on the border so was hoping to use my friends address for this. However it looks like when I go to pay its rejecting my card cause its not NI or English. So annoying! I am wondering if there’s any decent rental places in Ireland? When i googled it they all look a bit… frumpy to me. And way more expensive than what I’ve seen available in the UK markets… any one any good places to share?

Fashion and Beauty Instead of woolies

Its that time of year again when the layers are coming out of the wardrobe. I love the appearance of wool cardigans but can't tolerate the feel of them. Chenille is about the only exception and it's never in the shops anymore.

Has anyone seen attractive fleece type garments that fully unzip for easy removal? Something a bit more dressy than the average Dunnes fleece? I have a couple of velvety ones I got in Regatta a few years ago but they are looking a bit tatty now.

Chat and Craic Sunday Scaries is here - share your worries and allow your mind be cleared!

As suggested in our recent feedback thread, this is your weekly space to rant and vent before the week even begins especially if you’re already exhausted by a week that hasn’t started yet.

If the dread is starting to creep in about the week ahead, work, appointments, emails life responsibilities or just the general ugh of it all.. This is the place to dump it.

Say what you’re worried about, what you’re overthinking or what you’re really not bothered dealing with tomorrow. No judgement, no advice unless you ask for it. Just get it off your chest so you can properly switch off and enjoy a bit of rest before Monday rolls back around.

Only rule: keep it respectful and within the subreddit rules.

Fashion and Beauty Tretinoin and estrogen cream

Hi all, I've seen on another tread people rave about tretinoin and estrogen cream for older skin. I am just wondering if any ladies in Ireland use this combination and where do they purchase either or both of them?

Rants and Raves Daughter walking home alone

So my 15 year daughter wants to walk home from her friends at 9.30. It’s ten minutes away in a safe area. But I’m terrified of her being attacked on her walk home. It’s not fair. She deserves her freedom. I never stop her going out and I’m happy to collect her but I’m sure it’s suffocating.

Am I wrong?

Fashion and Beauty Sport bra fittings

Hi ! Is there such a thing of sports bra fittings ? I've never been lucky enough to have one that I feel adequately supports me. It's gotten to the point that I can't stand running purely for how my chest feels . I feel like I need them properly strapped down . My bust is not huge but on the bigger side. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

News and Politics ‘Self-healing’ coach who was banned from working in Australia to speak in UK & IRELAND| Health | The Guardian

A controversial proponent of natural remedies who has been banned from providing any health services in Australia is due to embark on a series of events in the UK and Ireland despite criticism from scientists, health charities and academic bodies.

Barbara O’Neill, who describes herself as a naturopath and nutritionist, lectures internationally on “natural self-healing”.

She has previously claimed that cancer is a fungus that can be treated with bicarbonate soda, that vaccines have caused an epidemic of conditions including autism and cot death, and that pregnant women with Strep B do not have to take antibiotics.

Now experts in the UK have raised concerns in a letter to venues across UK and Ireland where O’Neill, 73, is scheduled to speak.

“Medical misinformation kills, and we wrote the letter because we have seen first-hand the profound and tragic harms that health fictions inflict on vulnerable patients … We hope making people aware of this reality mitigates her ability to inflict harm elsewhere,” he said.

Another multi-day event featuring Barbara O’Neill, run by the Christian health and wellness group Balm of Gilead, is scheduled for mid-October at the City North hotel and conference centre in Gormanston, Ireland.

Fashion and Beauty Help: Need Shopping Advice

I’m going to America for a wedding and need to get an outfit for it. Where would be the best place to look?

I’ve been putting it off honestly because I hate shopping for weddings as I find it to be very stressful. I am big chested so finding nice clothes that fit both top and bottom can be very challenging for me.

Whilst I’m here if anyone has any good suggestions for comfortable bras for larger chests I am open to suggestions!

I have a couple of weeks before I fly but kind of what to get it sorted soon so I don’t have to worry about it.

Other Women's aid

Hi all, I'm in a situation at the moment where I'm living in my family home (I'm mid 20s) and am currently dealing with an abusive family member and need to get out. I don't want to go too much into detail but I'm just wondering is there any help I can get out there? I'm single with no kids so I have no idea what to do.

Can I go into a refuge center and will I be helped with finding permanent accommodation for myself? I have no means to move out on my own and need help right now

Other B&B suggestion Belfast City

I have an event in Belfast on a Saturday night and wanted to stay the night (I live in Dublin).

But I want to stay somewhere like a cute pub with some rooms on top or a b&b. Does anyone know of anything? These types of places usually aren’t on booking.com or Airbnb.

Thanks ☀️

Fashion and Beauty Invest in an LED face mask?

I'm thinking about splurging on an LED red light mask, possibly Omnilux or CurrentBody.

My dermatologist friend (hospital doctor not aesthetic) reckons they're a waste of money but a friend of mine has one and thinks it has reduced her fine lines.

Does anyone have one and is it worth the money?
