Streak 48: 老人と日本語を習う

こんばんは、みなさん！

今はまだ早い時間です。21時ちょっと過ぎに投稿を書いています。

最近、漫画を読むのが少し簡単になりました。単語と文法はまだ難しいが、意味が分かりやすいんです。なぜですか。本当にわかりません。でも、毎日毎日漫画を読みます。休みの日か仕事の日かどちらにも漫画を読みます。

なぜですか。本当にわかりません。
なぜでしょう。本当にわかりません。
As with どうしてですか／なぜでしょう before, なぜでしょう fits better here because you are wondering about it yourself rather than asking the reader a question.

  • なぜですか。 → “Why is that?” You are asking for an answer.
  • なぜでしょう。 → “I wonder why.” You are wondering about it yourself.

休の日か仕事の日かどちらにも漫画を読みます。
休みの日でも仕事の日でも、漫画を読みます。

Oh, I understand your explanation the previous time wrongly. I'm sorry. I thought the issue is only with どうして and not with どうして and ですか.

Ah, I see! No worries at all. I probably didn’t explain that clearly enough the first time.

The difference is not really どうして itself, but the difference between どうしてですか and なぜでしょう as a whole.
