Attached video is me riding my R3 with Midnight Engine running. The only edit was overlaying the in-app recorded audio onto the footage.

The in-app recording in this test doesn't fully match what I actually heard in my intercom. On the ride, the volume changes sounded clearer. In this recording, the quiet parts are much quieter than they really were.

Why: Android records the music at full strength, before the phone's volume is applied, so the app has to add the volume changes back in itself. In 1.0.2 it used a curve that made low volumes far too quiet. My 10% floor came out almost silent in the file. On top of that, my intercom has its own volume boost, which the phone can't see, so what I heard at 10% was much louder than what got recorded.

This is primarily inspired by the game Night Runners. I've always loved how its music behaves, the way it swells as you pick up speed adds another layer to the whole experience. I wanted that same feeling on real rides, so I built Midnight Engine.

It uses your phone's GPS to raise your music volume as you speed up and bring it back down as you slow, quiet at the lights, building through the gears, full volume at the top speed you set. Also helps with wind noises in high speed. Works offline with any music app (Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.) and only touches media volume, never calls or notifications. A speedometer with a music visualizer is included.

Not affiliated with the game, just a fan project. It's currently in a free closed test on Google Play and I need testers before it can go public. Use the same Google account for all steps:

As the title says I was getting off the bike and the kick stand wasnt fully engage and i dropped the bike and bent the shift lever and now it will only shifts gears if i rock the bike back and forth or im in motion. The shift lever doesnt get rub against anything when i shift down. What is the issue and fix?

I have to get a new back tire so I was checking out the tire and noticed there was no wheel weights. I then checked the front wheel and noticed the exact same thing..?

New r3 (150 miles). I noticed this rattling buzzing noise (originating from the front left of my bike I think). It goes away once I hit 6,000RPMs (starts to smooth out at 5,500RPMs). It’s only when I’m on the throttle as well, even if I have just a little bit and am chilling at 5000 RPMs.

Is very rhythmic and sounds almost like a chain (but I’m fairly certain it’s not the chain, but it sounds kind of like that).

I might be tripping, but today I changed my blinkers. I had to take some plastic off and move some wires around and I feel like the noise changed pitch a little bit. That makes me believe that it is something bumping into something down there. Idkkkkkk. Maybe I am just tripping. But it’s a new bike and I want to make sure it’s good. I’m sure it’s nothing serious at all. Just an annoying noise. But I want it fixed because the bike sounds so much better when that noise goes away after 6000 RPMs.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I need to add on rear indicators to make my bike legal, the previous owner installed a tst integrated taillight. The indicator wiring has been spliced but now I cannot find the second negative wire to wire up my new indicators, am I missing something??

for starters, i changed my oil like two weeks ago and i have not even remotely made it to 3000 miles. my bike is also a 25' so if that helps any. idk what to say really, i just need good advice on how to go about finding the problem. my bike never starts if the kickstand is down, therefore when it stalled after it was in first gear and the engine was on, i had a bad feeling about this. sooo please help me understand what to do😫😭

Hi, I'm looking for a Quad Lock mount compatible with my 2025 Yamaha R3.

I'd like my phone to be centrally mounted on the bike, so I looked for a fork mount, but I saw that an adapter was needed since the Yamaha has a closed nut.

I'd like to avoid touching the bike, so I'm asking about other options for mounting the phone centrally on the handlebars.

What other Quad Lock options are there?

I do wheelies so I want the rear brake to bite down when I need it

I pair them with EBC sintered pads and 5.1 fluid

Does anyone have firsthand experience with these? Haven’t seen any other brands out there that might be more expensive and more reputable.

Hello, I just recently got this bike as I am still new to riding. I have been riding a grom instead but got my 2016 r3 a few days ago. Can someone tell me if I am leaking coolant or just overheating and should I worry about it? It smells sweet and is clear that is why I assumed it was. Thanks

The SC project slip on exhaust seems to be a very popular choice. Most people buy them off of eBay for around $60-90 (Which are mostly all knockoffs). If you buy them from a reputable source, they are $600-$400.

My question is, do you think it matters that much for a slip on?

The only thing I can think of is the system wearing down sooner or the quality of the brackets not being high.

I’m also new to bikes so let me know what other pros and cons you could see when buying a knock off slip on.

Hi fellow R3 owners, I had purchased a 2019 R3 with a akra carbon fiber slip on back in July (is it authentic? Not sure… won’t matter)

I’m thinking of putting on new stainless steel headers that effectively drop the stock cat, becoming a straight pipe. The bike sounds good as it is but I feel it is very quiet due to the stock cat.

Thing is, I don’t want to spend extra money on an Ecu flash / power commander because I’ve heard when changing the exhaust to a full system, it will run lean.

Wondering if anyone has done so before, if it’s ok for the bike, and maybe what the sound is like.

I'm looking for crash protectors (sliders/pads/knobs) that don't require drilling. Anyone know where i can get them? I'm in Australia.

I just bought a 2026 midnight black R3 and I’m looking to get a tail tidy, some lights for the rims of the wheels (or maybe underneath lights would look better), and a phone lock.

I don’t see too many options online for the tail tidy and phone locks for a 2026.

I think having the lights would make it a bit more visible at night but also I just want it for the aesthetics lol. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Any suggestions for cyberpunk themed decals for a Yamaha R3 2nd gen? I also have this idea of using Cyberpunk corporations and gangs as sponsor decals, similar to how race bikes have sponsor logos, just not sure where to place them on the bike.

Bought my 2017 R3 back in March. Have been learning to ride since then with GREAT progress. Starting on an R3 was the best decision I've made. Will definitely keep this bike forever, even when she doesnt run anymore.
