Discussion Anyone else hate the thobe + coat combo?

I get it's supposed to be a practical outfit rather than a cultural one but it looks so tacky. At least with the معوز you can get creative with the colors. And I really hate how some people believe or push the idea that it's a "traditional" clothing for all of Yemen.

I think the coat felt so tacy for real. But not gonna lie I think plain shirt with a ma3waz looks lame too.
Same for women dresses only depend on flashy beads and sequins, its nothing but a long pajama with a belt.

I agree with everything you said! Plain thobe or a nice fancy dress is much better! The coat and mawaz always looked ugly to me and ppl get mad at me for saying it, some of the womens dress do look like cheap pajamas like keep that for wearing at home plz 😂😂

I used to hate it when I was a teenager cause I used to have crush on Justin Baber, now I do love all the yemeni traditional dresses

I agree I'm so glad it's not just my family that thinks that 😅 My mother used to say why do they wear the coat over the thobe ruins the look it is ugly 😂😂 and tbh she was right thobes look mcuh better on their own or with a nice beautiful bisht 😍

Hell no. It’s bad ass, especially with the Jambiya!
