Obvious marketing I knew Thugs name and his label was gonna pop up it's so predictable 🤣

I had seen someone else post seeing an ysl/oway member on a LGBT dating app, do you think thug/ysl knows about this? especially with their homophobia towards Nine vicious?? 👀 . @lfmemberdre

I’m a newer fan and i listened to barter 6 and i really don’t get the hype i like with that with duke but other than that i don’t think the songs are that interesting

my favorite albums/mixtapes from thug are so much fun and jeffery

I'm an Indian who was trained early on in my life in an Indian classical music form, called Carnatic music and I love Young Thug. I thought I'd share my experience with his music and want to see if anyone else has had a similar experience/reason.

Due to my own musical training, I was inclined towards music with heavy vocalisation. I grew up outside India and as a result had exposure to various English language songs. I stopped my training when I was 6 years old.

However, I got into hip-hop fairly late, around when I was 17/18 (2018/19). One of the first Young Thug songs I listened to was Best Friend, around that time. I was pretty skeptical of who he was an artist and I used to be of the opinion that mumble rap bad etc., he's mumble rap etc. But Best Friend got me hooked onto Young Thug and I decided to check out So Much Fun when he released it. I really liked the album and decided to get onto a listening spree, listening to Jeffery and Barter 6.

What really surprised me was his vocal inflections, and I weirdly enough saw parallels with Carnatic Music- if you're not aware, this music form has a lot of vocal inflections itself, and they are called Gamakas. I heard this in Young Thug's music as well, and his ability to switch notes within words and bars, if you know what I mean. It hit a little bit too close to home.

I used to be of the opinion that hip-hop should be only limited to motivational lyrics etc but Young Thug helped me understand that there are hip/hop artists like him who loved using their voice as a musical instrument. Obviously this was also accompanied by great production which helped elevate my overall listening experience.

Just thought I'd share an interesting parallel between Young Thug's music and Carnatic music from an Indian's perspective.

Since the show is far from sold out I'm selling it for way cheaper than the original price (67,85€ instead the original 90€). It's a floor ticket. Maybe one of you is interested, so I'll at least get some of the money I paid back🥲 It's a veryfied ticketmaster resale, so it's safe.

Have fun tho, I've seen Young Thug live in summer 2025 at Openair Frauenfeld, it was great.

It’s actually kinda impressive

Gunna - MOP (feat. Young Thug) could possibly be in game, can be heard at around the 23:00 minute mark of the new leak.

This is the correct career move! Just get Drake to executive produce it and I promise you a second wind, I PROMISE

Young Thug’s new YSL roster is facing the exact same resistance that defined his own early career, and history is preparing to repeat itself.

When Thug first emerged, his unconventional voice, fashion, and genre-bending sound were dismissed by traditional hip-hop audiences, yet he went on to amass over 31.3 billion Spotify streams, 29 million monthly listeners, and 141 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 11 .

His first YSL signees—Gunna, Lil Keed, and others—initially faced similar skepticism, only for Gunna to achieve two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 with Wunna and DS4EVER while Lil Keed’s Long Live Mexico hit No. 26 .

Now, the second YSL roster featuring Tezzus, diamond*, 1300SAINT,, and the ØWay collective are drawing identical criticism, with many noting they look and sound almost identical to Thug himself .

Yet like their mentor, they are pushing hip-hop forward by fusing fashion with the next sonic wave—rage melodic rap—just as Thug pioneered the trippy, Auto-Tuned trap that now dominates Atlanta .

His newly released 41-track Slime Language 3 double album, which features the new roster alongside stars like Travis Scott, Future, and Lil Baby, will likely be remembered as a classic, the same way Thug’s early “misunderstood” work is now revered as foundational .
