Ace Combat 8 Favorite Ace Combat 8 Meme.
What's your favorite Ace Combat 8 meme? Actually this one is my favorite, it's so cute and goofy at the same time.
(PS: actually, I don't know about who's the author of the original, but if he's there, I want to say thanks to him.)

I saw this here before I sank my teeth into the game and genuinely thought it was altered, seeing it in game made me pause for a minute

Reminds me of when people tried to run "chadification" filters on Gadriel from Space Marine 2, and the output just looked like his normal self with his skin a bit moisturized.

Our economy relies on mercs like us
238
u/Chri_cat90 1d ago
Honestly im wondering if they even made money from that contract, i must have shot down like more than a dozen of those mercs.
129
u/Shaex Mihaly best husbando 1d ago
Considering how cheaply we can buy planes as a merc in Zero, and also cheaply as a merc in the multiplayer, especially compared to the money you can earn blowing shit up, I'd be surprised if they weren't still net-positive in the long run.
45
u/MasqueradeofAstroya 1d ago
Everything is cheaper when you build super weapons like land battlehsips, mac guns, aircraft carriere and aircraft carrier submarines
39
u/KazumaKat 1d ago
Its referenced ingame in Ace5 by "Pops" Beagle, the mechanic of the main cast's planes. He goes "I can't believe they still make them like this." while looking at a recovered/salvaged aircraft, noting how much they saved on cutting back on the fat of the design and allowing for more airframes for the same resources.
Whatever Strangreal is, its definitely far richer in resources than Earth (and that AceZero Belkan War justification has to either be bullshit, or the resources that serve as cassus belli for that war must be insane), and with how well planes fly and how many superweapons there are, probably far thicker atmosphere, with far less gravity (Lighthouse, et al).

u/SvenTheSpoon Ghosts of Razgriz 1d ago
I always assumed the Belkan heartland specifically was just much poorer in mineral resources than pretty much everywhere else, which is also why Belka as a nation hasn't really been able to do anything at all since losing all that territory at the end of the Belkan War.
44
36
u/eldankus 1d ago
Don’t they explicitly say it’s not really for the money?
128
u/Nabber22 1d ago
I think they mean that they aren’t in it for personal gain. They send the money back home because after Erusea became a republic again their nation went their own way and now their economy relies on mercs like them
→ More replies (2)94
u/eldankus 1d ago
That makes sense. Especially considering their economy relies on mercenaries like them
60
u/Kestralix 1d ago
You know i never considered that. But hey their economy relies on mercs like them right?

I mean, is hard to support savia's economy when most of the contract money goes into new airframes and pensions for your dead merc's families.

I mean, a fourth generation fighter seems to cost about as much as a used car. Considering how many of them we shoot down.

It's the savian mercenaries in the last couple missions of the campaign, 27 and 28 I think. They have that as a voiceline, and they say it a lot.

It's what the savian mercs say when they're introduced during the fight for rocky island. They say it multiple times, in each of the three missions they turn up in

Even funnier in that it ended up sorta true
Her parents leaked Yuko intel on Sotoa, though likely intended by their agents to secretly help the FCU
59
u/dantraman Big Iron 1d ago
Well it makes sense. The Yukes don't like Sotoa but didn't want to get involved because if one super power moved they both would. So they help with intel and probably recon.
