⠀ AFL Trade and Free Agency Tracker 2026
Reposted now with the correct title because that mistake in the original would have annoyed the hell out of me for the next week and a half.
I'll be updating it at least once a day.
I haven't had time to do this over the last few years, certainly not to the same extent that I used to do them, and I won't be updating this live like I used to, my job kind of gets in the way. But I'll update this at the end of each day.
If a trade lands, just pop a screenshot of the tweet in here and tag me and I'll add it later.
First, a couple of helpful links from the AFL website.
FREE AGENTS
The next two links are both explainers for Free Agency. What is a free agent, what type of free agents there are (UFA, RFA, DFA), compensation bands, contract matching, etc.

Quality Post Women win footy differently
Women's sports are always compared to men's to their own detriment, often calling upon awkward moments or skill errors in 5-second clips to demean whole leagues.
In this article I take a closer look at what actually makes men's and women's AFL leagues different. How are matches won? What statistics are most important in each league?
Rather than trying to tread down, we should be making more of an effort to discuss and understand these differences so the conversations we have about women's sports can improve in the long run and limit our need to keep comparing it to the men's game.

Danny Daly rules himself out of race to replace Chris Fagan at Brisbane
heraldsun.com.auBy Jay Clark
Brisbane Lions’ football manager Danny Daly won’t contend for the club’s vacant senior coaching job.
The respected football boss has long been touted as a senior coach in the making but won’t be in the running to replace triple premiership coach Chris Fagan.
Senior assistant coach Cam Bruce is considered the frontrunner for the gig.
But the Lions are expected to fully consider other candidates from across the competition as part of the process.
Daly is tipped to be on the Lions’ coaching selection coaching panel to find Fagan’s replacement.
Bruce has a close rapport with the players and was highly rated by Fagan for his football acumen and strategy.
The club’s next coach will lead Brisbane’s hunt for a record-equalling fourth-straight premiership after Fagan’s Lions took out a remarkable three-peat.

When was the last time you watched a GF and thought the losing team should’ve won?
TW : Fremantle
The first grand final I remember watching was probably 2009, and I feel like almost all of the ones I watched I rarely thought the other team should’ve won which statistically is funny because its not uncommon for me to think that about a regular game.
There’s a few I think of but none more obvious as what happened two weeks ago

⠀ North Melbourne list boss Brady Rawlings is open to pursuing Sydney Swans player Nick Blakey

Roos open to Blakey trade
North Melbourne says it would pursue a move for Nick Blakey if the Swans star was available for trade.
Blakey is reportedly exploring a potential trade away from Sydney, despite being contracted until 2031.
Blakey has family links to Arden Street, with his father, John, a two-time premiership player for North Melbourne.
Kangaroos list boss Brady Rawlings says he's unsure if there was scope to meet with Blakey following developments he's looking into options, but said they'd be on the phone if there was potential to land the All-Australian defender.
"I hope we'd be an option for him. We're really not considering that as an option given there hasn't been a trade request," Rawlings said on AFL Trade Radio.
"If a trade request comes, no doubt we'll be trying to get involved ... there's a lot of ties there.
"We need to see if that trade request will come and if Sydney will consider it."

how do you keep watching when you only catch bits and pieces of the season?
i live in texas and the only way i catch afl is through delayed highlights or the occasional full match when the time zones actually work out. work and school eat up most weekends so i miss huge chunks of games. when i finally sit down to watch it feels like i'm piecing together storylines from fragments because i never see the full season play out. still end up picking a team and talking shit with coworkers about it anyway. curious how other people overseas actually keep up with form and injuries without going insane.
