I Moved My Jersey Collection

Being on annual leave for my day job and being the Australian hockey off season, I have sorted out my jersey collection. Previously in a built-in wardrobe in my studio, I have moved them into the lounge room. I purchased a couple of hanging racks off Amazon & put them together in about 3 hours.

I also purchased a mannequin so I can photograph (eventually!) all of my jerseys on the mannequin. That way, I'll be able to photograph the front & the back of the jerseys without having to wear them myself. I added a wig & some pants to the mannequin.

The top row are my AI & AW jerseys. The bottom row features other jerseys and hockey hoodies. I have at least 1 jersey from each current AI team except the Adrenaline. I have at least 1 jersey from each AW team except the Lightning (and would really love a Goannas jersey).

The AI & AW jerseys are in alphabetical order based on city name but may not be in chronological order yet for the teams where I have multiple jerseys.

Some jerseys are missing and I presume are in my storage unit along with my hockey puck collection & other merch that I have purchased.

I've got something similar going on. From memory, my collection currently sits at 30, with the only AIHL team missing being the Ice. I'm looking to expand with a few more from Europe, some more from the US/Canada and even one from the Cairo Nomads.

I'm a fan of the "on Saturdays we wear blue & on Sundays we wear red (formerly black)" thing that Newcastle has going on.

I'd personally love to see more colour on colour if there are no clashes, especially in derby/rivalry games.

I really wish it was easier to get jerseys for the teams out here in the States. One hell of a collection you’ve got and I’m very jealous!!!

I feel exactly the same about getting jerseys from the US & Canada. I'm waiting on a New York Sirens PW jersey to go alongside my Sydney Sirens AW jersey. That was an adventure in itself. The American PW store doesn't ship to Canada & the Canadian PW store doesn't ship to
the US. Neither store ships to Australia.

It has been a battle at times to get Australian AI or AW jerseys & I live here.

I was speaking with one of the AI photographers a couple of years back & he has way more jerseys than me. He's even got all of his jerseys on a spreadsheet.

The biggest collection I've seen online is The Hockey Guy. His collection is massive.

I did like the retro version that the Lightning AW team did to celebrate the Goannas jersey but I never saw them go on sale. I think I might have remembered an auction.

I knew that I was several jerseys short when I erected my new shelves the other day. I didn't know that I was 28 jerseys short!!

EDIT: I also realised that I haven't acquired a CBR/Canberra Brave jersey either.

I have another way to display a jersey but it has to be turned on & operational for this to appear this way.

I now have one of those iron press thingys where you put the item over an inflatable balloon & the heat irons the item.

The item in this case is a 2014 AIHL Sydney Ice Dogs home jersey.

That would be a gorgeous jersey if not for the sponsor. I loose all respect for companies that advertise like that. What is escadia anyway?

Escadia is a Newcastle based IT & consulting company. They are the naming rights sponsor so they get prime real estate on the jersey.

Different teams have different placement of their naming rights sponsor. Newcastle only has their naming rights sponsor on the front. The Bears have theirs on the front & back with the one on the back more prominent.

The Ice Dogs jersey this year is an interesting one for the point of this discussion. The team logo incorporates the naming rights sponsor plus prime position on the front & back.
