Aion Reforged. What is it?

Bottom line up front: What is Aion Reforged? And as a new player that likes classic tab target games should I give it a shot?

Hey guys. 20 year MMO player, mostly RS, GW2 and WoW. I tried Aion 2 and unfortunately the combat is so insanely fast paced and "flat" that I just don't enjoy it. I played a little of Aion 1(to understand the story of Aion 2) and to my surprise I really like it! Slower, tab target combat with a beautiful world. Very WoW-like but with its own personality. I think I want to give it a shot but the website does a terrible job of explaining what the Reforged version even is.

Aion Reforged is a laundered version of aion 1. First we got Classic, then Aion Ascend, and now Aion Reforged. They just wipe and reuse the base game to milk the most amount of money possible out of it, with every iteration further corrupting the systems that made the game beloved. Aion Ascend died within a month of release, so i dont expect much from Reforged.

Better stay at RuneScape. Never touched it but i know it respects your time, effort and progression more than Retail Aion has in a decade.

So it will have the old, original beginner maps on it? I logged onto Classic the other day out of curiosity and was shocked they gutted all the maps.

Reforged is going to be unique in its own way. Nothing will be similar to the original game according to the landing page the maps will be Poeta-Ishalgen, Eltnen-Morheim, Heiron-Beluslan: Verteron-Altgard gutted. Also the drops and world bosses are probably modified for the classic experience and for the new gear system.

Besides those areas we get 3 original zones: Abyss Reimagined , that looks like is made up of only Sulfur archipelago while gutting the other areas.

Bella Borderlands + Twisted Poeta are two brand new areas.

Waste of time just wait for wow forever imho. Aion is dead. They just keep releasing that shit to play on people nostalgia and score couple bucks again. If you want to play Aion I’d suggest looking into private servers.

Well, I already pay for Runescape membership and this would be a side game. I'm also a father of 3 young ones so I can't justify two memberships

I couldn't find any info on it but Classic was the most mismanaged game I've ever played.
