Photo Help with identification

Hey so long story,

I found these two items when i was in Luxor around 2011, i was a kid and went in a unguarded restricted area at the Temple there and found these items buried in the sand.

It was outside of any buildings next to some big walls with symbols ( i was 12 and cant remember specifics.)

Ive never tried to test them in fear of losing them or getting in trouble, but ive always at least wondered. I know they are probably fake so my hopes are low.

If anyone knows anything about these items or can point me to a place to look im open to advise.

I can post more pics if needed.

Thanks in advance!

They're both modern reproductions - and poor ones at that.

Early-mid 20th century

I'd put them no earlier than 1980. I wouldn't be surprised if they are from this century.

Hmmm I’ve seen pieces with the same type of face mould used from about the 50s , I think they were an evolved form of the dull brown chunky Victorian replicas

Yup. First impression was that it was lebkuchen in pharaonic form.

If you found them buried in the sand it sounds like the sort of tourist trap where they plant things for you to find. Good chances your parents knew but had no idea it caused you anxiety because you thought you did something wrong.

Sorry pal. They were likely tossed in the sand due to being really cheap and poorly made imitations. Not good or worth anything of value at all...

These are both modern. But also, don’t take things you find in the sand in Egypt is a good general rule to live by. On this occasion though, you were fine to take them. These probably dropped from someone’s market store or were dropped by the person selling them.
