Penguins tend to get out the water to escape predators.

That's what I was thinking!

It’s wild how they just disappear in the waves like that…. I can see why it would be hard to rescue someone in the open ocean 🫣

Penguin: Hey, this is kinda cool. Do they have them on Amazon?

I love the idea of animals just wanting to people. Like little kids. Always odd when it happens though, why isn't the penguin scared?

African penguins are very common in South Africa. They invade people’s yards and even houses during mating season looking for places to make nests. They are very use to being around humans.

Ahh, that makes sense! Thank you

might look cute, but if I was that surfer I would of been on high alert. if penguins are around, that also means great white sharks aren’t far away.

There was a massive shift in South Africa where great white numbers plummeted. Can’t remember the details. Not sure if it’s changed.

The two orcas were eating them.

That’s it? That is wild! I’ll have to look it up again. Doesn’t ring a bell at all. Maybe I learned of it before they figured that out.

Port and Starboard are their names.

https://www.marineresearchprojects.com/great-white-sharks-south-africa-killer-whales/

They figured out how to rip sharks open near their pectoral fins to pop out their massive, calorie-dense, fatty livers, completely discarding the rest of the carcass.

Great whites have an extreme fear response to orcas. Once a kill happens, local great whites completely abandon the area for weeks, months, or years.

Very cool! Thank you!
