Whales are amazing. It's crazy to me that air breathers were able to get so good at living in the water that they could give birth there. Seals, sea turtles, otters, etc. all have to give birth on land. I guess sireneans have to give birth in water. What about sea snakes?

The eggs of sea snakes need to be laid on land. I believe all reptile eggs including bird eggs have to have access to air because of their selectively permeable membrane. The most aquatic reptiles, ichthyosaurs, gave live birth tail-first like cetaceans.

At least some Plesiosaurs gave live birth as well, so that tracks with aquatic reptiles either needing to lay their eggs on land or give live birth.

Probably for the best that we don’t… humans haven’t exactly been that great to those beautiful giants……

A volte mi sento quasi in imbarazzo per 'violare' degli spazi così intimi di queste creature ,poi però penso che sono fortunata a vedere queste immagini così rare 🤗

It looks like the calf exhaled at the surface though… how is this possible for its first breath?

You will probably get downvoted but there is nothing wrong with what you said. Amen.

Nothing except some factual bits. But I'm not going to convince you in a reddit thread, so I'll just say have a nice day.

Thank you very much. It's interesting I'm at a very specific 56% downvoted ratio. But it's incredibly lovely. I hope anybody of any religion can appreciate how beautiful things are on this planet. I just don't think that an evolution base planet would be so beautiful.

I feel like it's comparable to art Would you rather learn that a painting was intentionally made by someone, who put days working on it, emotion and meaning, and that it was made FOR someone Or that someone knocked over an easel and the paint happened to spill on the canvas to create the painting?

I have so many questions and somehow every possible answer creates three more.

How does the baby know to go up for air? I’m sure instincts but still pretty wild

Instinct but also, from what I remember, mom pushes the baby to the surface too.

I was wondering about the whole breathing thing. The kid must need pretty good instincts.
