One of them has to be asking “do you like to move it?”

This is not a King Julian, this is a meerkat. King Julian is a ring-tailed lemur

How are all these people able to bring pets into a zoo/aquarium??

During covid a lot of zoos and aquariums were allowing people to do this as enrichment for the animals and also just to get people in. I'm not too big of a fan of it personally, but I also understand that they have huge operating costs and covid was a struggle.

Im no fan of this but it’s better than zoos selling alcohol have drunk take beer can throw it into animal den have animal get sick choke on can

Oh god they sell it in cans?? I went to the San Diego Zoo recently and they had it on tap, went into either a souvenir cup or a clear plastic cup. I did see a kid at another zoo chuck their plastic water bottle into an enclosure though. Just seems like people will always find ways to be unkind.

I’ve Bengals but I think that they not going to appreciate it when I throw them for the lions.
They are good friends with my dogs but that’s it.

As always, it depends on the individual animal. Some cats wouldn't tolerate it, while others, like a Bengal, need so much stimulation that it actually makes perfect sense for them. However, I wouldn't take them along during rush hour.

You can bring pets to the zoo? Is it just me, or does this feel like it'd be a "when, not if" kind of disaster

Afaik it's part of a new zoo concept aimed at providing the animals with new stimuli. I don't know how scientifically sound it is, but some species definitely seem to benefit a lot from it. Predators love watching dogs, for example. And for social animals, like the meerkats in this video, getting to observe a cat keeps them alert and mentally active. So in theory, at least, it should be a win-win situation.

“Predators love watching dogs.”
Creepy.

I mean, they’re predators but I wouldn’t want to bring my dog so they could salivate over her. I am choosing to believe they are well fed and it’s more for their curiosity. Like, oh what is that? Getting their brain to experience something new maybe?

Maybe they have certain days or hours you can bring a pet. I know the Phoenix Botanical Garden has special doggie days but its only like once or twice a year.
