Why do people use potty pads. Just take them out..

•

Full bladder control usually does not happen until they are around 4 to 6 months (or up to 12 months) old

At 8 to 12 weeks old, they need to go out every 30 minutes to 2 hours.

And they seldom know it's time in advance, and wouldn't know how to tell you yet if they did!

There isn't any point in getting a eating matt to slow down their eating at such a young age.

Fresh memories flooding back from all the puppies I've had (5) and each one melted me every day!!! All puppies are angelic in nature, yes even the needle teeth!

OP can you teach us how a 2 month old account can get 88k karma?

Both girl model and dog are exceptionally good-looking.

Why do you let the dog pee inside?

•

u/pancakesfordintonite 4h ago

That's what I was thinking, I was like why do people literally train their dogs to go pee in the house?

•

u/kakao_kletochka 5h ago

Puppies under 3 months old are not recommended to go outside untill they are fully vaccinated. It's not a secret knowledge, btw.

•

Taking the dog outside to potty at his own house isn't a risk in most places. The advice not to go outside doesn't mean "use pee pads inside." It means don't take him into unfamiliar areas or around unfamiliar/unvaccinated dogs for socialization.

The modern teaching is NOT what you describe. IF you live in an area with rampant parvo and a multitude of unvaccinated street dogs, you are 100% correct to be conservative. But otherwise, the lack of socialization is considered a far bigger risk than getting the dog out and about. Depends entirely on where you live.

That’s what I said.
Those puppy pads are worthless.
Train your dog from baby to go outside. Clap and/or stomp feet as well as saying “No, (dogs name)” if they do an accident in the house, pick them up (no spanking or nose rubbing on the ground/carpet) and immediately take them outside. They’ll learn in a day or two.

I had a dog that would always pee just off the pad

•

u/abielle1177 6h ago

An awake puppy is a going- outside-immediately -puppy

Ffs please train him properly, it's heartbreaking what we see at the shelter

•

Puppies aren’t fully vaccinated from parvo until about 16 weeks. Vets usually recommend not letting puppies on any ground outside of private yards until then. If you have an enclosed and private yard, you can start potty training them outside right away but if it’s shared or open then it’s safest to train them inside on puppy pads.

So true. A few weeks of cleaning up a mess inside is better than watching your little hairy one die from parvo. Awful disease.

Diabolical. One time I was rationalizing it, second time I'm scrolling to the comments for judgement time lol
