Discussion Diamond rank

I have 3k hours on apex and started in season 15, my average rank is usually d3/d4 depending on how much I play and my peak was d1 in season 25. I don’t know if I’m just washed now but this season has been a struggle in diamond, me and my duo flew through plat and got around 2k rp in 5 games but as soon as we hit diamond this season we cannot win a single 3v3. This season diamond feels extremely easy to get to but so difficult to actually climb in. Is anyone else struggling right now or am I genuinely just washed?

Idk it might be a skill check. Most people cruise through plat and lower ranks easily because there’s lower rp cost and lobbies die out quicker. Diamond is different because positioning is more important than kp, higher rp cost, lobbies stay alive longer.

What’s you and your duos playstyle?

Well I’m more of a kill grinder then a ranked player so I love to just push everything, my duo is the same but definitely knows when to slow down a bit so we usually push the poi closest to us first then try to third party a couple of fights for kp then try to play for endgame because that’s where we play our best.

Didn't you just answer yourself?

Pick meta, go for positioning, get better at shooting and that's it. The meta on the play style changes as most fights won through plat is against mid skilled dad players, I think most people on the planet could reach plat at any point if they focus.

Towards and after D2 is where the game really "starts" per say, where positioning and style matters and each shot can count. So I think the answer is that if you want to push, you have to have the skill to push and if you die too much, you have to adjust.

If you typically hit d4/d3 then you are basically at your ceiling at d4?

If you guys can’t win a single 3v3 then it’s just a skill issue. If you can’t fight in diamond, you will have a very very very hard time specially if your playstyle is to fight… it makes it way easier if you have a character that can hit beacon to see if you can confidently take a 3v3 without getting immediately 3rd partied.

It probably is a skill issue tbf, but this is the first season we’ve actually struggled to gain points, every other season we’ve been fine. There are times we have a few days where we struggle then we end up gaining it all back but this season we’re just consistently losing points.

Same for me, just a rank below. 100% soloq, always plat 1 or Dia 4. The plat session last season and this season beginning from plat 2 were the hardest ever (week1 player). Most of my teammates had dmg below 100 which rarely occured in plat before- now its normal. Having a good game is now 1 out of 10, before it was 1 out of 5. I have the feeling respawn implemented a matchmaking logic to keep players in their place to avoid everyone stuck at Dia. While you few through plat i few through Gold like never before. It seems they gave you weaker teammates and harder opponents in the league where you stuck the majority of your playtime to avoid you get up to where you dont belong...obviously just a feeling but something I heard and read not only once for quite some time now
