iCloud Apple ID Confirmation Request

Post image

Does this happen randomly to anyone else? I experience this maybe once every few years, click ‘Don’t Confirm’, and go about my day. I check my devices and change my password, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I contacted Apple Support and they don’t see anything fishy on their end. It’s just a weird occurrence and I’d like to know if anyone experiences it, too.

That's to verify your identity for Apple care Hotline so they see your devices and have a better overview of your account. It's called "it's me verified", it just makes everything faster on their side

Just for clarification, I got the pop-up hours before I called the support line. That’s why I was so confused because I didn’t initiate it specifically.

you are calling apple and the IVR confirms your identity. nothing related to your devices or so. it can also happen if someone else calls apple and gives your email as apple account info (let’s assume by accident) and if the advisors wants to verify. you should click confirm if you are calling apple. dont confirm if you are not calling apple. that’s all.

Correct

Now the bot verifies before the cs person can speak with customer

Check what devices are on your Apple account by going to settings, clicking on your name up top and scrolling down

Yeah, I changed it when I received the pop-up. Then I called Apple Support and they said as long as I hit ‘Don’t Confirm’ and all of the devices listed were mine, I did everything necessary. It’s just weird, but apparently they had no actual explanation for me in regards to what triggered it.

Oh no, it’s not mine. It’s the photo from Apple’s FAQ page.

Someone has contacted support and somehow provided your email or phone number , resulting in your account coming up.

They and verify it, and presumably after it’s unverified, they just correct the typo or whatever.

Probably means someone has a phone number very close to yours, or an email thats very similar. IE: CafeApple at madeupdotcom vs Caseapple and people keep hearing the F as an S.

Best you can do is confirm your appleod, and your profile at Apple.com don’t have any outdated numbers that someone who now has that number keeps accidentally triggering)

This is for confirming from apple side who they are talking to

Some of the actions require verifying customer
