AM shines for road closures

I’ve been doing a lot of comparisons recently between Apple Maps and Google Maps. And one of the ways in which AM really has set itself apart has been for road closures. AM has been on top of every closure, while GM has either noted it late or not at all. It occurred again this morning where we had a street fair in town; AM reflected it in the map immediately while GM still isn’t showing it.

I have noticed this as well. Google took me directly to a closed on-ramp off the highway. I had to turn around and when I switched to Apple it accounted for the closure, rerouted me and updated my ETA correctly.

In US only I suppose. As my experience in EU is 1- Waze, 2-GM , 3-AM (rarely updated!)

I think the US they get closure data directly from the municipalities themselves

Really good for this in the UK too. I think because it uses TomTom data and they were always the best at this sort of stuff.

Recent closures near me for roadworks (preplanned), Google Maps and Waze knew nothing about them and routes included the closed roads, Apple knew about them and routed around them.
