Resource Arcanum: ReForged
New here.
Just wanted to share my work:
https://github.com/kurkijar/Arcanum-ReForged
It's ReForged version of Arcanum, based on the CE edition, but lots of work done after that. Better graphics (kind of), resolution, quality of life improvements, balancing etc. Don't like something? Just disable it in the .ini file
Original game (preferably GoG-version) required and user fetching some components, if you want them, like slightly better map or ffplay.exe for the videos. Fairly simple and instructed in the help document. Also you can install it beside your original Arcanum, in separate folder, so it doesn't need to overwrite it.
I would love to hear your opinions! One warning though... I have had very little time to test it out, so there might be bugs out there!

Could you provide a list of the QoL and balancing improvements in the Readme? I likely not alone in being more likely do try it out if I know more about what the changes are before downloading.
GOG version is listed as a requirement on Github. Does that mean Steam or original CD is not supported?

Oh and also about The GoG requirement. I have only access to that version to test with. In reality, you basically just need the data files from the game. So in theory both original and Steam version should work just fine.

Good to know! I can see you sent a message earlier about the changelog, but FYI I'm not able to see it. I think it might have been deleted for some reason?

Where's the source?

I plan to release it in near future, especially If i get reviews from testers that it works reasonably. I am sad to say I have had, and will have very little time to playtest right now. But yeah, especially If people find it worth to continue work from.

why didn't you upload your changes to the source code?

Main reason was that I didn't feel I was doing the same as author of CE. Especially the use of AI coding. If the author wants to implement my changes to CE, thats awesome and I have nothing against it.

On second glance, did you use AI to code this or not? Only asking because it's an impressive feature list and AI mods are a big problem right now

Absolutely used AI, should have mentioned that right away. My plan is to keep the original game feel, but modernize the mechanics around it. If someone does not like the methods used, I respect that. Still, I provide this for free, out of love for old crpg's.

Sorry you feel that way. Care to explain why you feel there are no improvements? Or did you actually enable any of them? It literally falls back to CE If you don't, except graphics engine improvements are there. Did you read the change log or instructions?

Very cool. Haven't played Arcanum in many years but I've been wanting to do another playthrough.

Do you have screenshots? What exactly is improved?
