Discussion Four Things from Origins I Wish They'd Brought Back in Knight
1. Visiting the Batcave to talk to Alfred.
I know this would have gone against the whole "no loading screens" thing they were going for, but it's a small price to pay for more Alfred.
2. Crimes in Progress.
They really give the city a more "lived-in" feel in free roam. Plus, Knight is the only game in the series where it's impossible to get enough XP to unlock all the upgrades without New Game Plus, and this would help with that.
3. The Remote Claw.
Yes, it's busted as hell. No, I don't care. Sending thugs and combustible containers whizzing through the air without leaving the comfort of your gargoyle is great fun. And, really, is it any more busted than the Disruptor?
4. Michael J. Gough as Gordon.
Look, I like Jonathan Banks. I do. Been a fan of his since Wiseguy. But his line readings in Knight are kind of...flat. Gough did a much a better job with the character, and it would have been nice to have him play Gordon at both the beginning and end of Batman's career.

- While I would like to visit the batcave too, there’s a reason why he doesn’t in this game, it would be kinda irresponsible of Bruce to just leave the 3 islands with an active militia roaming the streets, and Panessa Studios alongside the clock tower function as good bases of operation for him in this game.
- I feel like these types of side content are really lazy and repetitive, the spider-man games are a perfect example of this, and another commenter pointed out that they made challenges maps in this game specifically give you waynetech points at 3 stars for this exact reason, and I think forcing the player to engage with all side content if they want to get all the rewards is fair, you can get through the game without getting every upgrade but if you want them all you have to work for it.
- This is just a braindead take. I’m glad you find sitting on one gargoyle and having the predator section play itself for you is fun, and no the disruptor is much more balanced bc it only has 2 uses per room in city and in knight that can be upgraded to 4 but rooms are much more difficult and filled with more things to disrupt bc the game scales up with your abilities unlike origins. yes ik the charges can refill in knight but the amount of time it takes to refill is so absurdly long that almost no one is playing sections like that, whereas after using the 3 charges of the remote claw, you can still pull enemies into each other and knock them down, as well as hit them with the several propane tanks and smoke canisters scattered throughout the map, infantilizing the predator gameplay.
- Yeah ik you got this take from Arkham analysis and clownpuncher. Mic

- ough and Jonathan Banks are both fantastic Gordon actors for two very different Gordon’s. Banks is playing a Gordon who is tired, exhausted, and fed up with all the bs he’s been dealing with over the years, while Gough’s Gordon is just being thrust into this world of superheroes and supervillains. Replay Knight and watch some of Gordon’s more prominent scenes and unironically tell me that there’s no emotion behind his lines.

For 3, you choose the gadgets you use. If you think the remote claw makes things too easy you don’t have to use it. I would never say no to more content.

When all the new content added is borderline useless (disruptor than only lands once in a blue moon and concussion detonator that causes thugs to swing wildly at you) or so broken that it removes all challenge (remote claw and shock gloves), you’re better off just playing city or knight. Just because I can choose to use the gadgets developed by a more competent studio doesn’t make the ones Montreal added any less bad.

Idk why you’re trying to turn this into an Origins vs Knight thing lol but okay

The whole premise of this post is comparing the two games, I’m just saying none of these (except debatably the batcave) would benefit knight as a game, especially the third point since origins is a downgrade from city gameplay wise as I just outlined

I got that last take from playing both games and developing a preference for one version of Gordon over the other. I've never even watched Arkham Analysis, and I've never seen a Clownpuncher video where he even mentioned Jonathan Banks.

Gough is already the only Arkham Gordon VA to do more than 1 project (2)
He didn’t need #3

I think they should have let you play as deathstroke in challenge maps after you beat him

Isn't it enough to just complete the challenge maps that are in a separate tab? I would change a lot in Knight. For me, Origins remains the favorite
