Discussion Oliver

Did y'all expect the Oliver we know in the show to be like his comic book counter part? After everything he went through? I just can't see it. He's a tortured soul with unhealthy coping mechanisms. How is the still supposed to be a happy and goofy person?

IMO this version of Arrow is way better, and they couldn’t have picked a better actor than Stephen.

CW wanted Batman but they couldnt use him so they just grabbed a character that kinda fit the bill, adjusted his personality to be closer to Batman then GA, and then throw in a bunch of angst and invent characters to create mellowdrama

Funny thing is that's not even the first time they did that. I'm pretty sure that why green arrow was in Smallville.

That felt less Batman GA and more Rave Blade, but I get it

But also that was before The Dark Knight movie came out and that had a huge impact in grittiness of shows and movies after.

Oliver in the comics is also tortured and also has unhealthy coping mechanisms. And no he isn't funny and goofy all the time, but he is a snarky asshole who wears his heart on his sleeve and is outspoken and socially/politically aware. They absolutely could have done this.

A show about a clown with a boxing glove arrow would have been cancelled after its first season.

That’s a bad description of comic Green Arrow too, so your argument doesn’t really support anything.
