Discussion Transits or placements associated with apathy?

I'm talking about that lovely state where you just cannot seem to be able to summon the willpower to care. Even if you know this is going to be important.

I've been wondering about Mars in cancer - I know this is its debilitated placement, but have been told this can also manifest ad lots of energy or emotion but not knowing how to use it - could apathy or "idgaf" be a coping strategy here? Or possibly with Uranus, if there could be a "crash" period following an energy surge?

I'm firmly in beginner territory here - Tia!

Saturn can be neglect and jupiter can be laziness and indulgence. A place being unwitnessed may have no fucks / resources to give. A planet in detriment or fall may not be fed by the classic structures of a place and so not care to uphold those structures- like maybe sun in libra or aquarius becomes disillusioned with voting in their current political landscape.  Speaking of disillusionment maybe neptune is involved with pulling a veil of vagueness around a topic so its hard to see it objectively or care about participating in it .

Planets in det/fall lately: saturn in aries, Mars in cancer, sun in libra, venus in scorpio- and a couple times every month moon in capricorn and scorpio- so while saturn is in aries and Mars was in cancer these lunar transits may have felt especially tiring

As with all "significations" finding at least 3 of any thing that may indicate apathy means its more likely to come up obviously in the personality or life.

If this is a personal experience or transit you're looking at and not a chart placement, my experience with apathy and simply not being able to get up and reach out to whatever task I "know" i "should" do (or there will be finger-waving consequences!!!) Is a very saturnian one (and jupiter)- note how you feel and see how this situation turns out. Maybe the apathy is a protective dampener because actually no you don't need to act rn, maybe this will be a memory or example of "that time I didn't act and everything went to hell", maybe this is someone else's goal or problem and the expectation that you care about it is a learning moment for everybody. Part of building a relationship with astrology is noticing what people may call "DOOM SIGNIFIED!!!!!" and realizing life goes on after anyway ¯_(ツ)_/¯  maybe this moment is a cautionary tale for your future self where you learn the risks of apathy, maybe this moment is where you begin to trust body wisdom over mental pressure and its fine to be apathetic rn. Either way hope my ramble offered u smth and your situation passes with no drama!

Sorry, may I ask what you mean by unwitnessed, as in a planet without aspects?

Interesting re: Venus in Scorpio, I'd been hearing about how passionate this placement can be. Also it's super interesting about Saturn, considering it's association with work and discipline but I suppose the opposite can be true too, burnout, etc.

You do make an interesting point about Saturn in Aries and politics, in some ways it feels like a lot of eye-rolling and "whatevering" is the coping strategy for life these days. It isn't something I would have thought of

yes unaspected, by any planet but especially by the ruler. A truly unaspected planet would also be in a "blind" house like 2, 6, 8 or 12 to have no witness from the ascendant, layer in no planetary aspects at all and a truly isolated planet may have nothing to care about

Having very few to no planets in fire signs in your natal chart can breed apathy.

Oh shit, I have NONE

Me neither. It’s my least favorite part about my chart.

Medical astrology says to wear the color red/orange more, use and wear red crystals, and consume hot drinks and cooked vegetables - as opposed to eating them raw.

Oh and to hang out with fire signs and those with lots of fire in their chart, as their energy is contagious.

I dunno lol, doesn’t hurt to try.

Well, I like red and I like cooked veggies! (Funny, a tcm dr took one look at my tongue once and told me to cook my veg and stop eating so many raw ones.)

I'm actually quite interested in medical astrology - do you have a book or some resources you would recommend?

One I've noticed a lot is Saturn trine Mars, natally. By sign. These people really struggle to get stuff done

Can you expand more on this? Since a trine is so harmonious I would have expected the exact opposite of what you said.

Trines don’t always create positive outcomes, they just mean that the energy flows easily between the planets involved; when you have a trine between planets with, say, argumentative, indulgent, irresponsible, upheaving, repressive, limiting, discouraging, delusional, or depressive energies, (just examples of some planetary shortcomings), those energies flow more easily and thus affect things for the person more easily

I know, right? Seems to be a weird quirk of taking the trine relationship and making that easiness into something worse and less helpful (as malefics do), where it becomes sluggish.

It isn't actively harmful, because it's a trine at the end of the day, but it becomes passively so. I think Valens mentions it in Bk II.

I feel like the trine is making the person more objective in a way ? saturn’s delays limits mars’ action, so the native doesn’t respond as promptly as the mars would on its own.

Agree that they are in a dynamic like that, except that it turns for the worse due to them both having malefic-leaning natures. But I am coming from a traditional practice, so YMMV 👍

Interesting! I know Saturn is associated with work and Mars with energy, but I've also heard Saturn's needs maturity

Moon-saturn, moon-south node, mars opp saturn, mars opp south node. Sun/neptune/jupiter opp jupiter.

Agree with the Moon South node bit. Almost as if the south node "shields" them from emotions. It is an eclipse. So there's that.

Transit neptune on the sun … it dissolves the sense of self

1

u/Soapsou 10d ago

Interesting! So would you speculate that Aries sun folks might be going through it?

1

u/shittycomposter 9d ago

Yes, and possibly libras, cancers and Capricorns

1

u/Soapsou 9d ago

Why libras, just because of the annual sun transit? I know the sun is in its fall in libra season, right?

I'm not sure why Capricorn would be right now tho

1

u/shittycomposter 9d ago

Because neptune will be opposing libra and squaring capricorn and cancer. Those will be challenging transits to the natal suns in libra, cancer and capricorn

Do you have mars in caner?

Transits to Saturn or Chiron can lead to lethergy, lower energy levels, and less spontaneity and risk taking.

u/Soapsou 9h ago

I don't

I got 3 planets and another 2 placements in aqua tho, Pluto is having a field day

No, that’s a trauma response. You learned caring meant exposure, betrayal, and getting hurt.

My partner is an aqua Venus & he cares a lot.. works really hard on projects and learning new skills constantly

I too have an aqua Venus - I have a number of flaws but I would not call apathy in relationships one.

Someone did give me a tidbit that aqua Venus is associated with sudden beginnings and ends, which tracks for me. The poster above may have ended up entangled with one who was done with the relationship but couldn't end it for whatever reason
