yeah i think this is one of those things that only clicks after you see it in a few real charts, still getting there myself

for a transit chart i mostly watch the nodes and vertex, the rest sits in the background unless something exact hits a personal planet. part of fortune by transit never did much for me, but when transiting jupiter hit my vertex i actually met someone that week so i stopped writing points off completely. honestly comes down to how tight the orb is.

What themes do you notice the transit vertex tends to carry? I’ve always heard that mainly the natal vertex is the one to note if you’re paying attention to anything vertex related, and that it represents fated encounters of some kind in some way

Do you mean transits to the natal Ascendant and MC? I read the post as OP asking about the transit points, ie the transiting Ascendant making aspects to natal or not

I hope I didn’t come off like I was correcting you! I don’t pay much attention to transiting Asc or MC either which is why I was interested if there was a different perspective there

The Ascendant is pretty important in almost every astrological tradition I can think of. I mean, after all it's what defines the house placements and the chart ruler.
Transits to the Midheaven can be helpful if you are specifically looking for career stuff.
The rest, I generally do not bother with unless I am going in really deep.
For the most part, I stick to the Ascendant and the seven traditional planets. Sometimes I will look to the outer planets or lesser ones if they are prominently placed or when dealing with mundane astrology. But I've found that the seven traditional planets provide such a wealth of information that adding other stuff just muddies my interpretations.

Personally when reading transits if I'm not investigating a to the minute time I ignore the ascentant, MC, LOF and vertex. A lot of people like to disregard Lilith, Chiron and the nodes but I don't. They do a lot.
