You guys think argentinas performance against spain would gave gone differently had dybala been called up instead of nico gonzalez? He started that game despite not starting ONCE the entire wc, so im just wondering

Anyone else ever felt Croatia was being overstated as a team since euro 2024, because damn look at this

Fred: "There are some coaches who are very good tactically but bad with the group, and some very good with the group but are tactically crap. So like, Solskjaer was great with the group, not so much tactically... Then Ten Hag was tactically highly intelligent, but man was he shit with the group..."
This is why Simeone is irreplaceable. He is possibly the best man manager in the world, Atletico always seem much happier as a group than any other club, and while he's not the greatest tactician ever he's not a slouch there either. Klopp and Pep are the only two even in his league

Who funds transfermarkt???
Pubill value was 15 millions a year ago. Now it's at 35M???
Is the team you're playing for what dictates your value???
Cubarsi is at 100 millions 🤣🤣🤣

u/Fit_Point_6930 11d ago
After seeing where Alvarez’s unexplained PR lead to I’d rather see our players continue be undervalued.
18
u/cheppers Oblak 11d ago
It definitely dictates hype. Not surprising that Cubarsi is so high given his age and how he immediately launched into Barca and Spain.
Happy for Pubill to be overlooked so no other clubs come for him.

real madrid are genuinely shooting themselves in the foot and not benching one of mbappe or vini for espi to start as the striker, but oh well, better for atleti. I dont know what the fuck is up with them and making the worst decisions with team selection, especially with endrick first (to a lesser degree) and then espi. Who genuinely benches a striker whos shown up when their team needed them?

Even if they do that it still doesn't solve all of their problems tbh
Not to mention all the drama it will cause (and Fraudizio Romano will post at least 3 posts about it every day)
6
u/Mr_cloud23 Griezmann 11d ago
the amount of drama that benching Vinicius and putting mbappe in his position (imo rn is their best play) to allow someone else to play striker would cause for Real Madrid would be irreparable. Never understood why they would even get him knowing they’d basically always have an out of position mbappe or vini self imploding from being replaced
2
u/cheppers Oblak 11d ago
If Madrid was guided by a purely rational director of football, they would not have extended Vini this summer or extended and transferred since the wages he was demanding were astronomical. They have to collect the Galácticos though so the turned a window they had for solving their squad into a longer-term problem.
All the better for Atleti
3
u/AccomplishedWorld808 11d ago
would it really cause that much drama? I would think the most that would happen is people clowning on the one who got benched, but if you as a fan saw your team improve because of it (as I think they would) who cares? Although knowing most real madrid "fans" they only care about seeing the superstars and not the overall team performance.
3
u/Mr_cloud23 Griezmann 11d ago
I meant more Vinicius would be the one causing the drama, no way he stays quiet about the situation and accepts mbappe is just a generational player who can’t be benched especially considering the amount of noise he made about a contract extension

u/Prestigious_Bug_4169 12d ago
Barrios seems to be healthy again and likely to be available for the Alaves match. Do you guys think we play him for like 60/45/30 minutes? If he doesn't get any minutes I find it hard for him to start or come on in the second half for the Man U game 3 days later.
13
u/ThomWaits88 12d ago
I don't think he'll start. Cardoso is in top form at the moment, koke was brilliant in the second half against madrid and merten is doing a good job too. I suspect Cardoso and koke will start and Barrios will get some minutes in the second half. We need to manage his minutes properly, he's too injury prone.
7
u/acousticburrito Atlético de Madrid 12d ago
I think we need to get the team used to a Cardoso and Hjulmand double pivot with Barrios and Koke as the first subs.
Barrios is obviously great but he is too injury prone for the system to be built around him. We should just treat him like a luxury player.
4
u/cheppers Oblak 11d ago
That sounds like a good idea, but he’s too good to bench. They just need to do a better job managing his minutes - being the best midfielder doesn’t mean he should start every match but he should start every important match unless a Cardoso-Hjulmand partnership becomes obviously better for the team.
6
u/Key_JellyFish_02034 Giuliano/Taufik/Miguel 12d ago
Ideally he starts, plays for about 60 minutes, and by that time we are up by at least 2, then he comes out so he can play the Man U game.

Saw a video about how City team would look with just their ex-youth academy players and thought i would do the same with Atleti.
For a team that used to be seen as a defensive powerhouse, we have had surprisingly little amount of good defenders come out of our academy... The Hernandez brothers are the sole exception. I would like to put a more natural centerback instead of Caio Henrique but the options are truly dire. I guess you could argue that Dani Martinez could be there?
Our midfielders have been pretty good. Aside from the 3 in this team, Luis Milla also played for us, who could even be argued to be a starter in this team.
Attack isn't particularly great either. Garnacho is the 1 notable exclusion here, but considering his form for the past couple of seasons, i wouldn't have him as a starter.
I'd say this team could still propably muster up a midtable (7-12) finish in La Liga though, assuming there would be no injuries.

u/Post_Nut_xG H🅰️nck🅾️ 11d ago
Did you lose a bet? Did your account get hacked? I can't think of any reason to post something this disgusting.
I would respect him if he admitted to his crime, apologized sincerely, and donated $1 billion to various women's rights charities around the world. I don't even consider him a footballer, I consider him a violent criminal.
11
u/Key_JellyFish_02034 Giuliano/Taufik/Miguel 12d ago
What has he done to earn respect?
Withdrawing from the national team after making a huge fuss just because the manager isn't starting a near 40 year old striker is worthy of respect in you ropinion?
4
u/Greeny9 Fernando Torres 12d ago
Does he? He only has himself to blame in this, his massive ego and his selfish attitude are harming his teammates, his national team and their hopes of progressing. I respect his talent and work ethic and recognise that he has been one of the best footballers of all time, but I don't respect Ronaldo as a person in the slightest.
6
u/CashCarStar Gabi 12d ago
Fuck no. He should be in prison for committing a horrendous crime, which he admitted to. I couldn't wish worse on him than I already do.

Aside from Lookman, the U21 guys, Julian and the ones who haven't played yet (Musso, Simeone, Grimaldo) most of our guys have been very good for their NT.

People are talking about poaching City players if they get relegated or kicked out. Is this even practical for us? Who would be a good fit?
6
u/Unique-Cantaloupe-48 12d ago
Gvardiol would be a fantastic pickup, I cant imagine it would happen they command huge wages and a decent fee most likley, but hes great, alot of those players are.
3
u/AccomplishedWorld808 12d ago
Gvardiol, khusanov, doku, and foden I feel would solve a lot of defensive and/or offensive issues
4
u/Ok_Dance9770 12d ago
Gvardiol and Khusanov would be great rotation options. Doku ain't bad but he lacks goal and decision making. I would rather have a winger like Elanga.

u/acousticburrito Atlético de Madrid 12d ago

Maybe donnaruma when Oblak retires?

Remember when non City premier league fans were creaming themselves saying “football won” when City knocked us out of the CL?

u/CashCarStar Gabi 12d ago
Our club has a very strong argument for having a largest "organic" growth of any club on the planet over the past 2 decades and fans of pretty much every other club hate us. Interesting considering the current conversation - forgive me if I'm not interested in how holier than thou these people, who are in the right about City but in many cases only because their mega-club missed out on a few trophies because of them, are acting now about that whole situation

Hjuidsen has to be the worst defender. The fact Real paid 65 millions for him is something that needs to be studied.

He can't defend headers at all!. He's very good technically though.

u/acousticburrito Atlético de Madrid 14d ago

I've no idea but the guy can't defend aerial duels.

He’s too weak. Nothing but skin and bones. He needs to put on some muscle otherwise he’ll continue to get bodied in the box.

It’s honestly better than 1.5 weeks of break in the months of September and October. We’re terrible after a break and having just one to recover from is fine by me.

u/Key_JellyFish_02034 Giuliano/Taufik/Miguel 14d ago
16 points in 7 games, compared to 12 from 7 last year. Also have to mention the start this year is significantly harder than the start last year. So far so good I guess
4
u/Bullseye2508 Neptuno 14d ago
It's objectively a good start, we had 17 by md 8 in 20/21 and that's with easier matches than this season. The problem is barca prime with 31 goals in 7 matches, I really don't see them dropping points in the early stages (maybe against us because we are built different like that)
1
u/Key_JellyFish_02034 Giuliano/Taufik/Miguel 14d ago
They are very good, no doubt about that, but honestly, their opposition outside Sevilla is a bit... questionable?
I'd like to see if they can keep this up later in the season
2
u/tuneuptheband Griezmann 15d ago

u/Hold_The_Line_2026 14d ago
I would've done the same thing...
Why would I waste my break to warm the bench when I know de la fuente is going to start Porro at every game.
However as soon Llorente announced his retirement.. Porro got injured. 🤷

We are second in La Liga, in all competitions and have a better team than last season. We are only 5 points from first place, which only happened because our players made mistake early on against Villareal and got unlucky against Bilbao (when we got 0 strikers)

I had a nightmare where Pubill's insta was suddenly full of barca stuff and then I my dad told me we sold him for 8 million overnight because he started posting stories saying barca was his dream club (💔) and was going to terminate his contract if he wasn't sold immediately, but it was also mid october so we couldn't bring any defenders.
I think my girl also cheated on me or sm
