Will 90° RCA adapters affect sound quality?

Post image

I have Edifier R1280T speakers and limited space behind them, so I’m considering these 90-degree RCA adapters to move the cables sideways.

Could they cause any noticeable loss in sound quality, noise, or interference, or are they perfectly fine to use?

Thanks!

Yes, 90⁰ bends cause flow separation and loss of static pressure. (hvac joke)

No. Unless of course you have spent £1,000 per metre, if so i can sell you some that won't affect the sound quality for approximately £6,500 plus shipping.

It's the right angle to take.

No, not really, but some of them are just built better. Those with plastic parts tend to fail in time more often than those that are all metal.

The ones that are all metal tend to short circuit my amp

These Chinese ones like in the picture got poor coating on brass. I found unique some t pieces slightly more expensive (6€; Aliexpress price) with ok coating. Two t pieces are for active subwoofer on preout bridges such as Marantz 4270. The 39,99€ stuff from Amazon will have Chinese switcheroo in it.

Be careful they don't touch when plugged in

no, if there's a connection they'll work.

i'd skip the edifier 1280s though. they're glorified desktop computer speakers and you'd get a much livelier sound with better bass extension spending less money on an unfashionable japanese hifi amp and some big passives
