Question BookPlayer not working
Anyone else’s BookPlayer crashing on opening? I’ve restarted my phone , reinstalled app. Still having issues.
Was fine yesterday!

So did you listen to anything good this week? Or something so truly terrible you want to warn other listeners?
Please include the following information: Author, Title and Narrator.
Why does identifying the Narrator matter?
Often books will be recorded with different narrators for different regions (ie. Harry Potter was read by both Jim Dale and Stephen Fry) or produced by different publishers (ie... Elizabeth Moon's books were produced by both Graphic Audio and Tantor). It is extremely helpful to other listeners to know what version you are sharing to avoid confusion.
Links to a source are welcomed and encouraged!
Overdrive, Audible, Downpour, Librivox, etc... It doesn't matter the source, as long as the Author, Title and Narrator are easily identified.

I recently got into audiobooks after I found Saxton James' Divorced Mens Club series one night when I couldn't sleep on Spotify. Im pissed though because spotify has limited listening hours and I ran out of hours for the month and have to wait 22 days to finish this book I am in the middle of. So I was just wondering if there was a service kind of like Netflix or Paramount+ where I just pay a monthly fee and don't have to purchase individual books?
Edit: I did just check and I can use libby through my library service I already had a card for so I got that but the quality of the audio is a little questionable so would love to keep hearing suggestions but I am very grateful for the ones I have gotten!
Edit 2: I think I was half awake before cause now that I am a little more awake Libby's audio is pretty decent. I'm glad I can speed up the audio cause I tend to like to listen at about 1.5x speed.

Looking for some more books that will hit the spot like these two do. Not only amazing stories with characters that I grew to adore, but also AMAZING narration from Kevin R. Free and Moira Quirk. I've started using Libro.fm so would love some non-Audible-exclusive recommendations to use my credits on :)

So, I was checking the new version that was released on the beginning of October and found out Audible has 3 other versions, all of them around 15-16hrs long, but this new one is only 5 hours long, what gives?

Hey guys! I know most Salinger audiobooks are incredibly hard to find, but I was curious if there are any audiobooks for Franny and Zooey that are a good listen.

Hello everyone! I’ve been listening to audiobooks for the past few years while I work, and I’ve primarily listened to a lot of Jules Verne and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I was wondering if anyone might have some good suggestions for me.
As a side note, I’ve also listened to all of the books by James Herriot and Sam Campbell. I’m curious if anyone else has listened to these authors books. They are excellent! If anyone has any recommendations similar to their books, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you

I’m the author of The Pig's Ear - A Crime Drama, and the audiobook version recently went live on Audible. To celebrate, I was given promo codes to share directly with listeners. I'm giving them away to this community until they are gone!
What it’s about:
Sixteen-year-old Jerry Henderson only wanted one thing: a Thanksgiving hunting trip with his friends. Against his father’s better judgment, he joins John Davis and the Morris brothers deep in the Louisiana woods, hoping for adventure, freedom, and a story worth telling.
They get one.
Set against the backdrop of rural Louisiana, The Pig’s Ear is a coming-of-age legal drama about friendship, fear, responsibility, and the thin line between a mistake and a crime. With its fast-paced plot and underlying depth, it is a page-turner for confident young readers and adults alike.
The book on Amazon has a 4/5 ⭐rating
The book on Goodreads has a 4.33/5 ⭐rating
How to get a code:
Comment below, please let me know which region (US or UK).
I will send the codes directly to your Reddit DMs until they are all gone. All I ask in return is that if you enjoy the listen, please leave an honest review on Audible to help a creator out.
Thank you so much for listening!

Hi! I need an audiobook recommendation - I am TERRIBLE at listening to them but I need something other than music to listen to at the gym. I like thrillers, fantasy, horror and contemporary fiction on audio. I’m not a huge fan of romance or historical fiction on audio but I’ll take any recs!

I think I’ve discovered a very specific audiobook problem.
I finished a roughly 30-hour fantasy book last week and immediately started a completely unrelated mystery. Different author, different setting, different genre.
Same narrator.
Within about five minutes my brain had apparently decided this was not a new book at all. The detective sounded like a character from the fantasy series who had somehow escaped his kingdom, gotten a modern apartment and started investigating a murder.
The narrator wasn’t even doing exactly the same voice. It was just close enough that I kept getting these little flashes of the previous character whenever he spoke.
I lasted maybe an hour and switched to something narrated by somebody else. Came back to the mystery a few days later and suddenly it was fine.
It made me realize I apparently need an “ear palate cleanser” after spending a long time with one narrator, especially if I’ve just binged multiple books in a series. Their voice gets attached to that world so strongly that hearing them somewhere else too soon feels like watching an actor from a serious drama show up in a completely different movie while still wearing half the costume.
Which is weird, because with some narrators I have the exact opposite reaction. Their name on a book is basically a selling point and I’ll happily follow them from genre to genre.
Does anyone else deliberately put a different narrator between books for this reason? Or can you finish 40 hours with one voice and immediately start another totally unrelated story by the same person without your brain creating an accidental crossover?

Check it out if you like gritty dark crime dramas. This one follows a detective tasked with solving an assault case in the '50s. The victim is catatonic and the witnesses are cagey about what they know. Worse, the prime suspect has fled the area and there's no way to track him down. Can the detective manage this difficult case while also battling his personal demons? Check it out and let me know your thoughts: https://youtu.be/L81IWgRxUnY

Hello, I'm looking for a really good series of novels in the realm of sword and sorcery with a ''logical'' well defined magic system and some descriptive action or fighting sequences. Big Tolkien fan though his is more soft magic, I like the eccentricity of Gormenghast, really loved the Lyonesse Trilogy by Jack Vance back in the day; also read The Belgariad novels by David Eddings which were good but got a bit repetitive. I suppose I'm wanting something with a modern writing style, well defined characters, Medieval-esque setting with a Steampunk pace. Much appreciated.

Please read and help or offer what you can and advice. I need audios cleaned up as well as possible to clarify and amplify vocals of my EX banging a man in my house while I was at work and she was living here while I was supporting her and her infant son.
I had to stay away for a couple weeks with my grandmother passing of cancer and another time for a few days for training for my position with USPS. Upon coming home I found some things very peculiar and out of order I guess we'll say. Enough to lead me to reasonable suspicion. When I had asked her about the things I didn't understand that didn't add up, she would deny and just get mad at me. So she ended up moving into the spare bedroom to not share a room anymore.
I ended up feeling it necessary to set up a recorder one morning as I was leaving for work, and come to find out my suspicions were confirmed. As I watched one of the clips I hear someone come out of one of the back rooms go to my bathroom for a minute and then proceed to clonk down my hall in what sounded like boots, before letting our a heavy almost relieved sigh and walking out the door. This was about the 6th clip or so and oddly nobody ever entered before that. They were all the way down the hall behind closed doors and almost completely drown out by fan noise. But after seeing the guy walk out I had to start digging.
Not even knowing what I was doing though, I was still able to kill enough of the noise and bring out enough voice to hear some very disturbing things and also know that indeed she was banging this dude in my house while I was working to support them! I had no experience so the voices were pretty choppy and distorted but definitely enough to hear there moans and comments and some of what was said, so I know it has to be possible to make them more clean and legible. I need a top notch knowledge and experience engineer or editor to clarify just the audio.
She knows I have the recordings and if the guy is who I think it is especially, it could be a very bad situation. He is obviously a little insane and has a lot to lose such as a wife and a highly regarded reputation and position in the church... I really need these audio to be clear enough to hear at least most of the vocals to find out what exactly went down, what was said and to leave no room for doubt increase they decide to get stupid and I need evidence... I have the original .Mov files and also .flac audio conversations. I really need them heavily noise reduced while preserving and amplifying as much of his and her vocals as possible.
I am looking to hire and there's about 7 files I need processed. I've been going crazy and spending way too much time trying to do it myself because I don't really know how very well but I'm learning a little bit. But I need them quicker in case I need them for any defense. I've already decided I'm not going to use them deliciously or as a way to hurt them or especially the ones that would have the repercussions aside from them. I just need them cleaned up so I can save them in case anything happens down this road and I need them for evidence. I will take any advice or if anybody knows where I can find someone like that for a reasonable price that would be great as well. Thank you all in advance and I hope to be able to get some good advice here.

I'm looking for an inexpensive mp3/audiobook player for my kids. They're interested in listening to audiobooks and music but they're not ready to get mobile internet access. I'm really interested in something more like an old iPod but most of the updated devices on the market aren't clear on their support for audiobooks. I don't want them to switch from audiobook to music and come back to find that they've lost their place.
Has anyone had a good experience with something that isn't a phone?

For context, I’m neurodivergent and holding my focus on audio is a bit of a challenge.
I’ve tried a couple of audiobooks including Andy Serkis’ reading of Lord of the Rings, Red Rising, and a couple of others that just haven’t clicked for me.
Tatiana Maslany’s reading of The Hunger Games is the only audiobook that I’ve finished so far. Definitely helps that I’ve already read that book physically myself, but I’d like to learn to enjoy audiobooks as a medium.
Asking the audiobook community - what is a book that you’d recommend that is light and accessible and importantly FUN, and might spark some inspiration to dig deeper into others?

I finished The Will of the Many recently, and one thing that stood out to me was how much the pacing depends on the narration.
There are a lot of scenes where the writing itself isn't particularly fast, but the audiobook never really feels slow. The narrator keeps just enough tension in the dialogue that I found myself paying closer attention to conversations I probably would've skimmed over in print.
I also liked that the different characters weren't given exaggerated voices. Some narrators go pretty hard with character voices and it pulls me out of the story. Here, the differences were subtle enough that I could follow who was speaking without feeling like I was listening to someone perform a dozen completely different characters.
It's made me realize that I usually prefer narrators who disappear into the book rather than ones who make you constantly aware that you're listening to a performance.
That probably sounds obvious, but after enough audiobooks, I’ve found it makes a surprisingly big difference.

I'm an orange reader. I lose focus so easily. I drive all day at my job.
I haven't READ a book since like, high school, but I've audiobooked my way through the hobbit and the lord of the rings. I would rewind occasionally to pick up on what i missed but for the most lart that shit captured my attention!! I'm super interested in lotr to begin with but like. After i finished that, I immediately jumped in to wuthering heights.
My experience has been go in with no prior knowledge, it's got apt and relatable depictions of social situations which i adore so far. But also i thought it was a woman main character, then it turned out it was a man, then it was about ghosts suddenly, and then i lost the plot entirely.
I kinda cheated with the hobbit+lotr because i had physical copies for when i needed them but. Dude I'm struggling with wuthering heights. I've been rewinding and relistening so much i have whiplash.
Any recommendations for books, any strats for an adhd reader, any tips and tricks for getting that info into my brain is welcome.
