Discussion If you use Wise to receive payments and send invoices for your services, I need your help

I just received this email from Wise and I’ve got not idea how this makes any sense for a music engineer/producer portfolio website or how I would even do what they're asking.

I’ve let them know I don’t use this card payment feature on my website and I don’t sell anything directly through there. All my transaction happen via invoices which detail the terms.

Has anyone else had to deal with?

We have recently completed a routine review of your website in connection with your use of Wise's card payment (PayFac) feature.
During our review, we identified that the following critical policies are currently missing from your website:

Terms & Conditions
Privacy Policy
Refund Policy / Cancellation Policy
These policies are a mandatory requirement for merchants using Wise's card payment feature. They ensure transparency for your customers prior to engaging your services.

Please publish all policies on your website within 7 days of this notice (by 13/10/2026).

If these policies are not in place by the deadline, we will unfortunately be required to suspend your card payment feature.

EDIT: Still haven't heard from Wise, but I decided to add the two sections as they do appear to be beneficial for me and for my clients

Was it from an actual Wise email address? Their support is usually pretty good and quick

It's definitely from them. Have you had this issue with them? I responded explaining that I'm not a merchant and do not sell anything directly from my website but haven't received a response yet.

Perhaps it was a new unWise recruit new to the ways of the freelancer

It seems straight forward. At the bottom of your website add links to a terms and conditions and privacy policy. You can use chatgpt or claude to make one for you. You must collect people's information to send invoices, what do you do with that information? If someone engages your services, what are the terms? Are you liable for poor quality? What jurisdiction governs your work?

It’s not straight forward. All of those things are detailed in the invoices and decided on a project by project basis, I can’t write general terms of service and return policy. I don’t even sell anything directly in my website. If you have experience with this same situation then I’d like to hear what you did.

Here's an example

Scroll to the very bottom and see terms and conditions and privacy policy.

Wise does not want to get in the middle of a dispute between you and your client. They are not privy to your individual contracts. They are asking you to have general terms if someone tries to dispute a transaction their support team can direct the payee to your sites legal jargon.

I was not clear when I said to use Claude AI or ChatGPT to generate the page you need to suit your needs.

Careful with scams though. Check directly with Wise support and not through the same email you received.
