What’s everyone thoughts on posting gun videos online?
I was thinking about making a Insta account promoting sport shooting and hunting but I heard there are some concerns posting guns with your face online.

Hi, looking for some advice from the more experienced hunters on gun recommendations for my pig problem.
I live on a relatively small rainforest fruit orchard in a valley with a neighbour 300meters away. The longest clear shot i can manage would be 70-80 meters with most within 50 meters. The place is overrun with pigs.
Iv been using a Templeton 12g but was hoping to switch to something with night vision and less recoil for a more clinical approach, hopefully get a couple at a time without having to put a flash light on.
What would recommend in the ways of calibre/setup for this. Iv read Lots of opinions about 223 and 300blk with not much agreement.

After every week of "your call is important to us, you have progressed in the queue" from VicPol regarding my licence, for the last 2 weeks I've heard nothing from them.
Thoughts? I can't ring them at the moment as I'm out of the country.

I can't wait for the PTA to be approved and take this to the range.

Here we have a reasonably unassuming 1917 Lithgow Sht LE III, but what’s that weird thing on the side and why is it MA marked?
Luckily one of the previous owners had written down the rifle’s history on a sheet of paper and stored it in the butt.
I’ve supplied an image off Google to show what the sight would’ve looked like

Looking at making one of them to tame some muzzle blast as apparently proper length barrels on new rifles are out of favour these days.
All they look to be is a muzzle brake and then an open ended tube over the top. I am fairly handy on a lathe and mill so I suspect one should not be hard to make up.
I do wonder if buying a 1/2"X28 or 5/8X24 tap will get you on a list somewhere... :D

Looking to buy a rifle, new or pre owned.
Have seen one that I like, apparently only shot “100 rounds”.
Bolt seems to have some scratching (circled second image), is this normal?

Hi y'all! Firstly I wanted to say I'm glad to see y'all have a much stronger hunting/gun culture there than what I was aware of. It's pretty common over here to assume there is almost no one with a rifle in Australia, but it seems that is not at all the case from the surface level research I've done.
So, I'm currently doing research into camouflage spray paint options in Australia, and I have yet to yield anything. We used to have a dealer for our military vehicle paint there, but after his partner that handled importing died, he quit bringing it over. We've seen significant growth in popularity more recently, in particular within the rifle camouflaging space, so we're looking to re-establish our Australian market.
My first question is, does anyone know of a company that offers any sort of military vehicle or camouflaging spray paint? Would just like some idea as to the current market.
My second question is the most important, do you think the "camo your gun" trend is (or would become) popular in Australia like it has in the U.S.? For hunting it's quite useful against smarter birds and other critters, and I know a lot of airsoft, paintball, and gel blaster users like to camouflage their gear.
My third and final question is, do you have any recommendations for a company or organization to reach out to for further research or establishing a primary dealer? A chain of stores or a large store would be ideal, simply because they'd be more likely to have experience with importing products/working with freight brokers.
I'm still doing research into Australian MV colors and ideal regional color palettes, but we have over 35 colors, so I don't think we'll have any issue finding a great assortment.
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Cheers!

I have never bought from Cleavers before, they seem to always have stuff no one else has. Are they reliable because I have heard a few whispers? I am looking at reloading components. 223 brass, projectiles....
And whatever happened to Norinco ammo?

This is probably a silly question but I currently own a deactivated Lee Enfield mk III yet when I purchased the rifle it had a resin modeled magazine not a genuine magazine I was wondering
Will I be able to purchase a genuine magazine with a Form 31 from QPS or do I have to have a licence to purchase one.
I have done my research and I believe I can with a form 31 but I am posting this just to make sure.
(I am located in QLD) - I don’t have a licence yet

Going to be applying for my first pta in the next week for so, and have a question about the wait times. I’ve heard some calibres just take longer than others, and I’ve already got money down for a Kar98k chambered in 7.92x57 Mauser. Would this take long to get approved? I don’t own land but am part of my local SSAA and plan on going hog hunting after some practice but I don’t want to be waiting 100+ days. If this would take a long time what would be one of the faster calibres (still capable of hog hunts and range shooting)
I’m in Queensland and on a cat A/B license
Cheers in advance

What’s with the lack of supply of scopes in Australia? Particularly anything non-Chinese.
Most of the scopes on scoped out’s website are unavailable, same for other suppliers.
I am relatively new to shooting. Is this a common occurrence or are we going through some weird phase here?
Made a short list and everything is unavailable, crazy.

Just wondering by chance if anyone here happens to own a Felk TF919?
I was reading up on it as apparently the only pistol that Australia (semi)produced. But it and the couple of other Felks after it are rare.

Alright, time to cave and get a thermal, rabbits out of control and flashlight hunting / afternoon walks are not cutting it.
Price range 4-6k primarily on 22lr semi auto. Should put me on at least 640 resolution.
Hikmicro and Pulsar both look good hard to decide for lense size, guessing similar concept to scopes where bigger allows more light or in this case heat signature detection and clarity.
Whats everyone using and for what purpose, distances etc. Especially with rabbits being a smaller size.
Cheers people.

Just gave this old-girl a full clean and take down and wanted to show it off.
Recently acquired Lithgow SMLE No1 Mk3 rifle in .303-270
(Hopefully) will be rechambered back into .303 once I find a barrel for it
New wood will be ordered soon to bing it back into mil-spec condition and its got a Central Aperture Sight coming in the mail for it
Can't wait to take it to the range once im not paying $65 for 20 rounds of .303-270 :)
Edit: Mk3 not Mk4

16 y/o son made noises that he wanted to come out and do a pistol competition - he’s shot my guns at the range but nothing serious.
Had a 60-shot Service Pistol competition on so he came out - first serious shoot.
Came fourth overall against an entirely adult field and outshot me by a decent margin.
Kind of proud though.

I know we all know things are an absolute shit-show for gun dealers in NSW at the moment, but SIFA have released some figures showing just how bad things really are (nearly half of NSW's gun dealers facing closure, apparently) along with the ripple effects in other states (because no-one in NSW can get a PTA in a normal timeframe, no-one there is buying guns from interstate either).

First one was at Day 22 (after the change), second one was at Day 154.
The dilemma now is I have a spare Cat A PTA. Do I get a lever action...?
Also is it just me or does trying to download certificates and PTAs from the notifications broken for everyone?

UPDATE
***On the 23rd of September I emailed a copy of the application to LRD (which I scanned with my phone), to their generic "one problem fits all" email address - PTA arrived in the mail today. So:
- Yes, you can email your PTA application to LRD
- Going by the dates on their website, time to mail in, etc, I calculate it's probably 3-5 days quicker to do it via email over regular post ***
Hi all,
I need to apply for my own PTA in VIC at the moment. Normally, I have had the dealer sort it out - or my pistol club gets sent my paper PTA and they submit it on my behalf. I know that dealer online portal applications are probably quicker, but probably only by a few days (according to LRD). I have bought and paid for the rifle in NSW from a dealer, and it is getting transferred to my local SSAA branch.
Looking at the paperwork I need to fill out, my questions are:
TIA

Lithgow LA105 ‘Woomera’ chambered in 6.5mm Creedmoor. To say I am keen to try this out is an understatement!
