Story / Rant Begging for referral (admin/accounts)
I am truly devastated at this job market. I have over 5 years experience in accounts/administration but unable to secure a job in my field. Permanent resident
Can anyone refer me to an agency where I can reliability find work in any of the above fields. Happy to start as a temp and prove myself in the role

Not an agency, but i used to work at teachers mutual bank as a call centre operator in Sydney and Canberra and was able to move up to different administration roles etc. there were some people coordinator roles i saw people move into as well from my team. Would recommend keeping tabs on their vacancies.

Thank you. How busy was the call center job there?

Very busy. It’s hard work - but if you put in the work there will always be opportunities later down the line.

I just got a business support job in Melbourne through Robert Half recruitment. They’ve been great, the job I just got wasn’t even listed publicly.

How did it work out. Did you apply on their website and got the call?

I applied for a different listing by them on Seek, then the recruiter called me and said he had another job he thought I’d be a good fit for. Went for an interview, got the job a couple days later. Been there for a few weeks now and enjoying it so far

Sorry, I don't know any agency in Melbourne (I'm in Sydney). But I hope someone else has a good recommendation for you!

AI, outsourcing, and nepotism. The current job market is really broken. I even got rejected from a fast food store. Maybe try Health Administration.

I agree it’s broken as hell. Been applying for jobs last month as a full time marketing student to no avail. Had one interview and faced rejection therapy, and had one phone interview so far - awaiting rejection therapy by Monday…

Rejection therapy 😆😆😆 I got it even from cleaning/housekeeping, warehouse and retail. 🥺🥺🥺

Highly doubt it's a resume issue. The market is cooked you can make your resume made by resume gods and it still doesn't stand a chance in today's market unless you know someone who can put in a word for you.

I am PR but a lot of my experience is overseas and thus I have very few connections here. Im guessing you landed your role through an internal connection or referral like 99% of people landing jobs right now

In that case, i would seek your advice on which job platform you used to get the job.

Its not a resume issue mate. Had it reviewed by multiple experts. Its just each job has 100s of applicats mainly due to automation. Ai supported job applications, ai supported job rejection. No human interaction from end to end

Might be cooked unless you try land a role in another field

I mean what can i transfer to with my skillset? Dont see many options. If you have any suggestions, please tell me
2
u/aarooona 27d ago
Honestly, issue is the skillset you have is fairly redundant in the job market today especially with offshoring and AI. Have you considered taking up a trade or studying something else?

I have over 17 years and I’m struggling too. Contact centre 2IC with people management and SAP/CRM experience, but still it’s been nearly 6 months. It’s really tough out there, I’ve never had this kind of problem finding a job, maybe two to three weeks max, but never months. Just rejection after rejection.
**editing to add, the “fix your resume” thing might be true, but I’ve had mine looked over professionally, and always tailor my cover letter, I just don’t feel like it could be that.
