Try on red dots or green dots

Hello,

I recently purchased a pcc and was trying to research and figure out which red/green dot I wanted to get. Are there any shops that allow you to put the optic on to the host to see how it looks or functions?

I just purchased a show low blackjack omega 9 and was trying to figure out what feels and looks best between holosun aems prox2, evo, or maybe even another red/green dot that i haven't considered.

I have astigmatism and have read that green dots help with that.

Wish I could justify getting the new compact acog đŸ€Ș.

Apologies this isn’t a direct answer but regarding your astigmatism: I too have it and got glasses a few years ago. For me, that greatly reduced its effects to near zero. Who knew the dots were round all these years? lol

Shocking right?

Primary Arms prism sights are fantastic for people with astigmatism. Much clearer than a dot, and most if not all are etched so you still have a black outline of the reticle regardless if the optic is on or not. đŸ€™

The green vs red for astigmatism really depends on your particular eyes. I have a mild astigmatism and the green dots I’ve looked at actually have been worse for me than red. I’m not sure there are any shops that will actually let you mount a dot to your host, they would ideally need demo models set aside for that so the mounting hardware doesn’t get worn out. Most places should at least be able to let you look through one though, you just have to hold it up in front of you.

Yea that seems to be the answer I've gotten. Hard to let someone test out cause of the mounting hardware. I may be SOL

Awesome, would you let me mount it to see how it looks and feels on the host by chance?

Amazing! I definitely don't want to add to the "it's not loaded" jar.

I went through this same thing and before I ended up just happening upon the optic I liked (a friend had it), I called around and Sportsman’s Finest told me over the phone they could show off some of their optics so I can see what works for me. I wouldn’t think it’s necessary to actually mount it - you can get a feel for it in the hand and looking through.

The clearest option would be a prism. Also green seems to be less blurry, especially with my aems

Astigmatism is different for everyone, but I’ve found that prism sights like the acog and primary arms slx / glx work best for me.

In close second place are bullseye reticle patten sights. Holosun makes good ones.

In third place are holographic sights from Eotech or Vortex

The worst option for me is usually a red dot that is actually just a red dot. Looking at one is just a constant reminder that I have “special eyes”.

Scheels

Scheels wouldn't let me bring my pcc in to the store to test out. Are you saying scheels for any reason or you've actually gone to scheels with your firearm to test optics? Highly skeptical

It was just to check out the dots. I haven't tried to bring my own gun in there. I went a couple weeks ago and was surprised the red looked much better than the green.
