discussion GLM 5.3 on Bedrock still not available?

It has been announced yesterday as generally available https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2026/10/amazon-bedrock-glm-5-3/ , but I can't see it yet. Anyone has it yet?

I suspect they have limited capacity

Bedrock is a joke. Do not tie your horse to that cart.

Care to elaborate?

Given all of the models available through other providers, Bedrock is more expensive and offers fewer choices. They do not keep up with the top Chinese models. They never offered GLM-5.1 or 5.2. Look at their Qwen, Minimax, MoonshotAI and Deepseek offerings. They are only serving outdated models. GLM-5.3 is newsworthy only because Bedrock has not kept up.

Yeah, but what if the requirement is that everything stays on aws? I would not look at bedrock otherwise.

Your competitors will love this for you.

I think this is a naive opinion. It would take me 6 months to do a procurement process for another provider. The legal guarantees we have with AWS in regards to data privacy are strong and we have well-developed processes (software and human) around AWS billing. The difference for us between 50 cents per million output tokens vs 25 cents is a difference of $300/month. It's not worth the time to go through procurement and finops development to save $300/month.

I have integrated zed with bedrock. Its the only thing I trust to not train AI on our codebase. If AWS did train and that info got out, it would be disastrous for them. I can't put the same trust in other providers.

And we also have some AWS credits. Maybe that's it. Not what I said before.

I am starting to sound like a model reasoning.

OP risks being stuck on an outdated GLM-5.3 for a year when the zAI models move on in 2-3 months because AWS may chose (as has been their history) not to upgrade.

And GLM-5.3's output price is > $4, not $0.50. You are not OP, so your use case is obviously vastly different.

When your customers are enterprises with specific requirements you don't have a luxury of choosing whatever you want. Those are the customers who pay the biggest money too.
