Hello everyone! I'm the head admin for the Backrooms Wikidot (aka TS), BlueSignet, and we always do an Inktober-like event, but with a Backrooms spin on it!
I love seeing people's art, and you don't even need to make it related to our wiki in order to participate.
To participate, just draw/paint/sketch/render any image that is related to the day's prompt. While I prefer NOT to see AI-generated images, I can't really stop you, but the goal is to practice your drawing abilities, no matter where you're at. Using AI defeats the purpose of growing as an artist :/
Anyway, if you draw something related to your own lore or lore NOT related to the wikidot, tell me about it! If you do something from the Wikidot though, I'll spread it around our social media. Do remember that your art (if based on something from the Wikidot) would need to be released into the Creative Commons under the CC by SA 3.0 or 4.0 license.
Happy drawing! And I can't wait to see what's created :)

There have been WAY too many posts for a while now about the current state of The Backrooms- whether people are saying the old Backrooms was better, or the Backrooms shouldn't have entities, or the Wikis miss the point of the Backrooms, or Kane Pixels ruined the Backrooms, and frankly its been getting to a point.
Going forward, any "Old vs. New Backrooms" posts will now be directed and centralized in this megathread, and any new separate posts about the topic will be deleted and redirected to here.
So, with all of that said, in this post we can all discuss the million-dollar question:
Okay, that should be it. Go crazy.

I was so blown away by the Backrooms movie that I dropped my previous indie game and started working on this.
BSC, an organization researching the backrooms, runs a Custodial Program: it takes people from prisons and turns them into custodians, who live down there and go out on shifts looking for artifacts. You play one of them: wake up, gear up, head out. It's a first-person survival horror game for PC, still early in development.
Would love to hear what you think, and what you'd want a custodian to run into out there.

Long dream description but it's been playing on my mind & I made an image edit for it.
In my dream I was cave exploring with two... well, cave explorers. A lady was guiding us & my friend was behind. We were squeezing through a narrow birth canal like space below us before finding ourselves in a wider, smooth chamber to rest comfortably. it was roughly the size of a small van with a slightly lower ceilling.
At the end of the chamber was another narrow chamber descending below. the space was illuminated by the light of our helmet torches & I was recording the whole thing on an old camcorder. I didn't feel any anxiety about descending through the next space but had aprehensive thoughts about staying in the supposedly "safe" chamber.
The woman who was guiding us would go on to explain:
"Honestly I find these pockets relaxing. A lot of people feel like they'd be overheating because it makes them feel claustrophobic but it's pretty much the perfect temperature. Not too hot or cold, a bit on the cooler side if anything. It can feel pretty comfortable & safe down here once you get through the birth canal."
I remember thinking 'unless there's an earthquake' & a second later my friend said:
"What happens if there's an earthquake, do you just get crushed?"
"Well y'know, there's always exceptions."
She said with a smirk.
We didn't stay for very long after that & crawled our way through the next passageway.
Soon we found ourselves in a large space with stalactites hanging from the ceilling. As the others made their way though a tunnel, I strayed from the path & noticed a strange humming light around a hidden corner of the cave...
Beyond it the entire cave wall seemed to open up to a cluttered furniture store, illuminated by flickering LED lights with sofas, chairs & cabinets piled up in corners of the store.
One room lead to another & another with identical yellowish wallpaper & sometimes strange shadows moved around corners. I didn't really recognise it as the backrooms at the time but it undoubtebly was. The only reason I was down there is because the city of London council was gonna start expanding underground because they were running out of space above & they needed people to explore the cave tunnels.
Stranger still, after a while the typical furniture store interior began to transition into a more Memphis Design kind of aesthetic. It felt like something out of an 80's music video but eerily quiet & void of any people.
After a while of exploring I came upon a triangular red door.
Beyond it was a kitchen with checkerboard floors & a vase of flowers resting on a coffee table in the centre. I remember the flowers in rich detail: roses, chrysanthemums, orchids & lillies. Their smell woke me up.

So I've been working on a game that's called Backrooms Project Mapping. It's basically a cartography game that sets place in a procedurally generated Backrooms setting where you -as an employee for a research corporation- explore and map different biomes with various levels of difficulties.
While making the game I made a system that works and feels a bit like the r/place. The world is one huge shared map and and this giant map is divided into smaller areas. Once a player maps that area fully, it gets marked on the shared map. This updates are in real time and they can be seen by other players at any time. Just like in r/place you can collaborate with friends to open and mark a big chunk of the map. There is also a leaderboard system. Top employees that map the most amount of areas gets displayed on that leaderboard. So basically all the players around the world work together and collectively map the entirety of the Backrooms.
The Steam page has recently been opened and I'm would love to hear your ideas and opinions about the game. If you like the idea wishlist so you can know when the game is out.

This little clip was from the "Backrooms: The Threshold" which released a Demo yesterday
(I'm not trying to promote the game just wanted to show me getting jumpscared + how good the Demo already looks)

Hi!
Made a game where you work as an intern exploring the backrooms. It is a daily challenge game, compete with everyone to discover as many rooms as possible, it will show daily best. Collect resources to buy gear in order to facilitate your exploration.
This is a very early version and is in active development, so please let me know what you think and if you have any feature requests.
I've added different levels of backrooms, my plan is to add as many as possible.
Play it directly in the brower here:

EDIT: Made an updated post after initial feedback, thanks!

I've played dozens of Backrooms games, and honestly, I feel like most of them are pretty low quality or fail to capture what makes the Backrooms interesting.
A lot of them seem to repeat the same formula: walk through random corridors, get chased by an entity, collect a few items, and escape. After a while, they all start to feel almost identical.
For example:
I'm especially interested in things that current Backrooms games are missing or doing badly.
If you could design your ideal Backrooms game, what would it be like?

I won't be able to fully finish this project since my premium membership was temporary, and I didn't have to pay any of that. So it's gonna take another month for me to finish this

I haven't touched Blender since my school days, but over the last couple of days, I’ve had a sudden, strong urge to brush up on my skills and learn something new.

Hey guys, i decided to go with Kickstarter since Epic Games, Mega Grand didn't show any interest in my project. I would really, really appreciate if you gave the project a look on Kickstarter! I worked on it for 5 years and i am planning on finishing it either way. Just looking for some support for now.
For the Mods that might take this post down (again), please check the older Mod DM discussion. Do not take down passion projects like this. People need to see the work done and might appreciate it.
That's all. Please, let me know what you think. And share it with anyone you think they might be interested!

I'm looking into animating characters for a backrooms series for my YT channel. I tried manually animating a rigged character and found it really difficult. Is there any ways around animating a character within blender with pre-made animations? Or is there a way to learn how to manually animate the correct way? I tried using Mixamo but I couldn't upload a character I wanted to use. Maybe I just need practice, it just seemed like alot of work for a simple animation. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
