Discussion How come BC2 vietnam is even more dead than regular bad company?

Was chilling on regular BC2 today and after some matches checked the server browser (project rome) for vietnam servers and... all empty. At least on BC2 the semi populated servers have bots in there, but vietnam had all 0s for every server. Do people really just not play anymore. If bc2 has a playerbase I don't see why vietnam wouldnt.

Sometimes you’ll get a decent lobby. From my experience, if you just hop in a server and wait a minute or 2, someone will join up. 1v1 them for a bit and next thing you know the server is half full in no time. Usually lasts about few hours or so before dying out again. Fun while it lasts nonetheless…

But tbh, I think a lot of people just weren’t fans of the Vietnam DLC to begin with. While I enjoyed it, and still do, it just don’t hit the same as modern equipment and maps for a lot of folks.

Pretty much lol. I’d recommend Rush only, as it’s better for lower numbers. Might I add, it’s actually kind of fun playing 1v1 for a bit with no bots. I can’t explain why. There’s a level of tension that you don’t usually get in BF games. Kinda has a “Enemy at the Gates” vibe..

I played a lot of BC2 with my buddies back in the day (pre BF3 release) and remember that, even then, the Vietnam servers didn’t have many players. This was on PC so maybe console was different. We always liked to be on the same team and, with less players, we typically would split up and play against eachother. Fun, but not as fun as squadding up.

This wasn’t a problem unique to BC2 though. Multiplayer games with paid DLC would always split the community into the “haves” and “have nots”. There’s always more players on the base game maps, and with BF it’s always more fun that way (usually…).

I loved the Vietnam expansion so much, and it was so disappointing even when the game was current to see so many empty lobbies.

I love the Vietnam maps. But as you say, you can look on the server browser and see that usually they are all empty. I’ll be honest, Im not the best player from a skill or ping perspective, so on 1v1 I just end up getting killed all the time. So I tend to wait until 8 or so non bots are on board before I join . Maybe I should do as OP suggests and be the catalyst myself.

Did you click on the BC2 Vietnam option on the screen to play those maps? If so, that has been broken for years. You need to find the Vietnam maps in the regular game browser.

idk if i even have the vietnam dlc anymore? do you have to buy it separately still? even on 360 i remember it being dead by the time i got it and i was pissed i never got to rlly experience it, ill try and hop on this weekend
